Then and Now Chapter 30 Nick walked over to the threesome and set the food down, he tried to pretend they weren't staring at him in shock. "So..." he said, putting his hands in his pockets and looking around. "Good move there, Frack." Brian said finally, coming to his senses. "If you hadn't called me, I wouldn't have hit the pole, tripped and demolished the tent." Nick protested. Lis laughed. "Right. Are we going to eat or sit around all night?" "Eat!" Nick answered, sitting down and opening the various containers of food. Han just shrugged at Bri and sat down. "So, you two okay with me and Lis sharing your tent?" Nick asked, handing everyone a plate.Ryan looked up from his notebook. "So they left here about seven this morning, and you said they were planning on using the old bear path." "Bear path?" Aimee asked. Ryan laughed. "Its just the name for it, on a map it resembles a bear paw. Some guy nicknamed it that and it stuck." Kevin noded, "Its been known as that for as long as I can remember. So what do you think?" Ryan spread out a map on the kitchen table and everyone peered at it. "If they were going to the lake they would have only used half the path..." "If they made it that far." Ang said, leaning beside Ryan. He nodded. "I doubt they would have, given what you said about AJ." Howie laughed. "I'd be surprised if they made it ten feet on the path." AJ sat near the fire, it was starting to dwindle so he'd have to go get some more branches to keep it going. Over in the corner, Krys was laying against her backpack dozing off. He stretched his legs out in front of him and sighed. Leave it to him to screw up his time alone with Krys, he shook his head and leaned back. Brian watched as Lis pulled her sleeping bag inside of their tent. "I'm sorry Rok." she apologized. "Hey its not your fault." Lis laughed. "I don't know, I did agree to this little trip." Krys heard footsteps in the cave and looked around tiredly. AJ was walking around the cave, heading towards the back. "What are you doing?" she asked yawning. AJ glanced at her startled. "Just checking the place out. I have to go get some more branches soon." "From where?" AJ pointed outside the cave. "Gotta go outside. I'll be back in like half an hour." "Your going to leave me here alone?" "Just a couple minutes." Krys jumped to her feet, and nearly fell over. Her legs had fallen asleep. "AJ McLean, you are not leaving me alone. What if you get lost and can't find your way back here?" "I uh, I never thought of that." "We'll go together, take our bags. If we don't get back to the cave we can always find somewhere else to spend the night." She reasoned, strapping her pack on. "Thats what I love about you Krys, always so full of ideas."
