Then and Now Chapter 46 "Violated?? Dear that simply was a make over!" Krys said stifling a laugh. AJ spun around and stared at her in disbelief. "You...it was you!" he said in a shocked voice. "How...how could you?" "Very easily, little lipstick, eyeliner, body glitter...presto! A brand new you." She said smiling sweetly at him. Kevin laughed, "Sorry Bone but damn you look..." "Like a freak!" He said, pulling himself up to a sitting position. "AJ a freak!" Jenn said and broke out laughing. D grinned, "More like a contestant in a uhm drag queen contest..." "I'd think he'd win!" Kev said turning away from AJ. The sight of him was too much to take, he was almost crying from laughing so much. "Some friends you two are." AJ muttered bitterly. His eyes turned to Krys, "Just you wait Kryssy I'll get you and you're little helpers too." He stated glancing at Jenn and Nina."Traffic's moving!" Aimee said happily. They'd been stuck in the same spot for nearly two hours. Any longer and they might have had to get out and search for food. Ryan laughed, "I was starting to think I'd be stuck in here for life." "Oh the horror!" Ang teased. "Hey do I see food anywhere?" he asked, semi seriously. "Oh boy he's definitely related to Kev and Rok!" Aims said laughing. Brian watched as Kevin's Suburban went racing by him once they hit the straight stretch of highway. "Uh guys, did you just see..." "A rather feminine looking AJ sulking, looking out the window?" Lis finished, staring after the vehicle in disbelief. "So I don't need a sleep." Bri stated. "What? What are you two talking about?" Nick asked, looking at Lis and Rok. "You'll see when we hit the next rest stop." Bri said, hitting the gas. "You'll see." Howie pulled the suburban up beside the gas pumps. "So I'll uh fill the tank." He said getting out of the vehicle, not looking at AJ. He knew if he did he'd crack up laughing all over again. "Good I'm not getting out of here." AJ said stubbornly. "Actually for us to get out, you kinda have to." Jenn said, pointing to the door. He turned around, "Oh really? There's another good reason for me to stay put!" Kevin sighed, "AJ, let the ladies out." AJ rolled his eyes, "Fine..." "Besides your driving the last stretch, you might want to get out and stretch your legs." Kev said getting out. AJ's eyes widened as he looked out the window. Thankfully the gas station looked relatively deserted. Images of his 'new look' on the cover of the National Enquirer flooded his mind. "Just a quick walk then I'm back in here. Hmmm maybe I can wash this stuff off my face." D looked over. "AJ you can't! You've got to let the others see." AJ shot him a deadly glare. "Oh sure give Frick and Frack lifelong blackmail material? No thanks, its bad enough you and Kev saw this." Bri stopped the Durango. "Wait till you see...oh my..." he said as he saw AJ standing with his back towards them. "What are you talking about Rok?" Han asked, as she climbed out and stretched her legs. She couldn't wait to finally reach Florida and she could lay out in a nice bed for hours and hours and then go swim in the ocean. "Someone gave AJ a new image." he said, walking over to her. "Just remember don't laugh to loud." Nick headed over to Lis, "You saw Bone...what'd they do to him?" Lis smirked, "You don't want to know..." He sighed, "Krys and her crazy imagination." they joined Bri and Han and headed for the group that was forming near the gas pumps. "Hey D, Kev...Bone!" Bri said trying to keep his voice level, he didn't want to let on that at least he had seen some of AJ's newest look. "Hey guys." D said, smiling at them. Kev smiled and walked into the store, "So AJ turn around man...ignoring us or something?" Nick asked with a smirk. AJ groaned, he'd never live this down. "Fine, but I don't want to hear one word from any of the four of you got it?" "Yeah sure." Bri said, adjusting the zoom on his camera. He knew this would be a historic moment. He'd have to make sure he remembered to get multiples of that pic when he got the roll developed. Slowly AJ spun around and Nick and Bri burst out laughing while Han and Lis just stood there staring. "Thanks for the support fellas. At least the girls have enough decency not to laugh." "Sorry! Its just...I never knew you were a summer!" Bri said laughing so hard he was crying. Nick grabbed his stomach and turned around, "Come on Lis...I need something to drink." he said trying to stop laughing. Krys laughed as she looked out the glass windows of the convenience store and saw Bri and Nick with AJ. She looked up to see Kevin, "How ticked is he?" she asked, taking a final glance outside as she headed for the till. He smiled, "Right now he's pretty upset but I think he'll get over it soon. I gotta admit you got him good!" She bowed. "Thank ya! I was watching him sleep and suddenly the idea came to me so I just had to go with it. You sure he's gonna forgive me though?" she asked, slightly worried. Kev grinned and patted her on the back. "Krys if ya gotta ask you don't know AJ that well." "Gotcha! See you back at the car." Ang and Ryan walked past AJ as he leaned against the Suburban. Suddenly the both stopped and turned around. "AJ?" Ang asked, walking towards him. "Oh man...yes I know I'm wearing make up..." he started. Ryan smiled. "Which girl got ya?" AJ shook his head. "Krys! Can you believe it?" Aimee walked over, "Oh my god...AJ!! You look actually kinda good...little much on the eyeliner but really not too bad." He shot her a dirty look, "Thanks Aims. Now just go about your business...pretend you never saw me, that would be nice. Oh and never EVER speak of me looking like this!" "Got ya!" Ryan said and pulled both girls towards the store. AJ leaned against the Suburban, drinking the orange slurpee Kevin had brought him when he noticed Krys walking towards him. "Oh no stay back! Haven't you ruined me enough for today?" She smiled, "AJ it was a joke, just like when you guys threw Nick outside in his underwear." "Ha ha well this isn't funny!" He pouted. She set her bag down and leaned beside him. "I’m sorry okay? Better?" "A bit." he smiled, "but I gotta drive home looking like this! I can just see it, go pick up the dogs at mom's and she'll die laughing...I'm still trying to forget the fact D's got his camcorder somewhere around here, he'd sell the footage to someone...there it'll be 'AJ McLean as you've never seen him before..on the next TRL'" he shook his head sadly. Krys laughed. "AJ relax look," she opened her backpack and pulled out one of her make up remover packages. "Here," she ripped the small package open and took out the napkin type thing. "all better." she said as she wiped away the makeup. AJ leaned over and looked in the driver's side mirror, surprisingly he was back to normal. "Good, thank you." He leaned over and kissed her forehead. "Now don't ever do that again!" "Swear! We talking now?" she asked. "I think so. Why don't you sit in the passenger seat? We got a lot of catching up to do!" he stated, picking up her backpack. "That we do!" Howie walked out behind Jenn, "Hey looks like we're all talking again!" he said with a grin. "Looks that way." she agreed turning around. "Hey D." "Hey sweets." he gave her a hug. "Shall we go?" Brian laughed and walked alongside Han, "Do you think we ought to tell them we've been talking pretty much the whole trip?" "And ruin the fact they think they made a breakthrough? Nah." She laughed, "We going yet?" "Soon as we find Nick..." "Argh, where did he disappear to?" Han asked, looking around for him. "Talking about me?" Nick asked, walking up behind them. "Yeah, where'd you go?" Bri asked. "Had to fill up the Durango or else we wouldn't make it out of the parking lot! The gang would be in Florida and we wouldn't. Everybody ready?" "Uh huh."
