Then and Now Chapter 47 "Another hour and we'll be home." Nick said, looking beside him at Lis. She gave him a tired smile "Good, I can't wait." "Me either...I don't think I ever want to drive again." "Not even to pick me up tomorrow?" she pouted. "I thought you were staying with me tonight..."Krys changed the radio station, glancing in the backseat. Nina and Kev were sound asleep in the last seat and Jenn and Howie were whispering. She leaned back and looked at AJ. "Actually the trip didn't end badly..." AJ laughed, "Right. Does that include my short stay as a drag queen?" "That was the highlight!" "Oh very funny! I'll remember to make sure the next trip we go on has an equally memorable highlight for you." "Oh my highlight was making you up!" she smiled cheekily at him. "Your darn lucky I'm driving girl!" He said laughing. "I'll get you Krys." "Keep dreaming Bone, keep dreaming." she said turning the radio up. Brian woke up to the Durango pulling to a stop. His eyes opened slowly and finally focused on the gate in front of them. "We're home?" "We're here..." Nick said. "I'll wake Han up." Bri stated, a smile appearing on his face. Lis turned around, "Rok buddy remember there's two other people in the car." "Aww darn it!!" he laughed. "Han, Hanners wake up." he whispered, brushing the hair out of her face. She moaned softly but stayed asleep. "Han, come on we're home." "B I wanna...sleep." she mumbled, resting her head on his shoulder. "You can sleep in awhile, but first you gotta leave the Durango. Besides don't you think a bed is more comfy then this?" "Yeah okay." she forced herself to sit up and stretch. "Oww, remind me never do a road trip as long as this one." "Will do." Lis said as she got out. AJ pulled the suburban through the gates, following Nick to his driveway. "Guess where we are guys and dolls!" AJ yelled. Jenn glanced out her window. "Hmmm I'd say in Kev's suburban in Nicky's driveway." Howie looked up from his magazine. "Home all ready?" he asked surprised. "Already?" Kevin said, glaring at D. "Do you not know how long we've been stuck in this vehicle?" "Most of the day." D answered with a smile. "Hey I happen to enjoy road trips." Nina groaned, "Why is he always so peppy? How can you stand it Jenn?" Jenn laughed, "I've learned to drown him out." Brian started unpacking the Durango, "Hey guys, what do we want to do?" he asked as everyone climbed out of the Suburban. "Sleep!" Han yelled, heading over and sitting on the cool lawn. "Look leg room!" she said stretching her legs out. Aimee pulled the truck into the driveway and stopped behind the suburban. "I've never been so happy to see this place." She said opening the driver's door. "Sadly neither have I!" Ang said following her friend outside, she glanced at a sleeping Ryan. "We'll leave him sleep." "Sounds good." Aimee said all ready on her way to the group. "Pizza?" Nick asked, slamming the trunk on his Durango. "I can order..." "That sounds good, wanna meet back here in about two hours?" AJ asked. "That way we all can head home, clean ourselves up and get back." "Good idea AJ." Nina said nodding her agreement. "Yeah that'll work." D agreed. "Come on Jenn, I'll drive ya!" "Well since your my ride you'd have to!" she called after him. "I swear, sometimes I wonder about him. See you guys in awhile!" she smiled and pulled her bags towards D's car in the back. "So we might as well get going." Krys said, picking up her bag. "Yes boss!" AJ said giving her a mock salute. "I'd order extra pizza Carter, I'm starving." "Even after you stop at McD's on the way?" Nick teased. "Hey a quarter pounder can only sustain a man for so long!" AJ yelled as he got into Krys' car. "See ya in awhile!" he got in and slammed the door. Aimee laughed, "What a crazy bunch. Okay I'll see if I can make it back for the pizza." she said smiling at Nick. "If ya don't I'll be upset with ya Aims." Nick said grabbing her bag for her. "Oh you will will ya?" she teased as he walked her to her car. "Yep I will. Remember two hours..." "Yeah yeah, okay see you then!" she gave him a quick hug and got in her car. He waved and jogged over to where Lis was sitting on the grass with Bri and Han, "Man this looks like a parking lot." he stated as everyone pulled out of the gates. Brian laughed, "Or a small car dealership." "So can we go in?" Lis asked, laying back in the grass. "Yeah I'll go in first, you guys can show up when you want." he said getting to his feet. Nick looked around the house, finding it deserted. "Hello?" he called, dropping his bags in the front hall. He made a face at the silence and walked into the kitchen finding a note on the table. 'Nick, everyone headed to Orlando for the weekend with Lis' parents. See you when we get back mom and dad' "Nicky?" Lis asked, walking towards him. "Yeah babes?" he said, turning around. "Where's everyone.?" "Orlando with your folks. Be back Sunday I guess, which means you are staying right here with me..." "With you..." "Yep you and Han can't go stay at the condo alone, besides you don't have the key to the place." Brian and Han stood in the doorway. "The girls are staying with you?" he asked, having heard the last piece of the conversation. Nick nodded, "Yeah just till Lis' parents get home...you can stay too if you want B. The other guest room's yours if you want it." Brian smiled, picking up his bag. "Thanks Frack, I'll go settle in." "I'll help." Han said with a grin following him. Lis grabbed a drink from the fridge and turned to him, "So guess we're not rid of each other yet." "Which is good." he said wrapping his arms around her waist. She leaned against him, "I think I gotta agree with you." she said turning around. Han threw Brian's bags down on the floor and fell back on the bed. "This feels great." Brian laughed, "I am not even gonna say anything." She picked up a pillow and threw it at him, "Shut up B! I'm trying to relax, I mean Kentucky was nice but isn't this better?" He fell beside her, "Gotta admit this has its plusses I mean your just right across the hall." "See...and they have pizza delivery!" she said sitting up. "I think I'm gonna grab a shower. See you downstairs." she gave him a quick kiss and left the room. "Shower, hmmm good idea!" Bri said, grabbing a set of clean clothes from his bag and heading into the bathroom. Next: Chapter 48 |
