When Roses Grow Black Chapter 17 Brian looked up at me and a gentle smile caressed his face. "I had began to think you never learned how to be nice," he joked at how rude I had been acting. I felt my face turn fifty shades of red, and he began laughing at me. I tried to speak, but found it'd sound a mere whisper, "I'm sorry. I guess it's just a reflex from my sub-conscious." "Aw, that's alright. Just don't go back to being a bitch on me," Brian warned. My mouth dropped open and I think maybe he could see clear down my throat, since my jaw was nearly on the floor. He swore!!! He called me a swear!! Brian burst out laughing at my reaction. He then leaned in and whispered in my ear, "We are real people, we just happen to be famous." I pulled my jaw back up and closed my mouth as I yet again turned red with embarrassment. "We're getting off subject here, aren't we??" I inquired trying to save face. His smile disappeared and I knew we were back on the previous discussion. "Well, what happened? What's wrong??" "Me and Nick were sharing a room at the hotel we're staying in because, well, there's no real reason, I don't think. Like I said, me and the others went out while Nick stayed in. I don't know what happened, but when I came back later that night what I saw scared the shit out of me." Brian stopped to recollect his thoughts before continuing and I figured it would be good to save the questions for after. "I walked in to the suit and I found the place a mess. I wasn't shocked at first since Nick is the messiest person I know. Anyway, I... I went to see if Nick was still up. I went into his room and the first thing I saw was a small trail of blood leading out of the room." I could see in his eyes that as he went through the story, he was reliving it in his mind. I could almost see the image flashing through his eyes as he saw them. He began getting chocked up and I had to stop him. "Brian, it's alright to stop if you want. You don't have to tell me the whole story," I stated softly as I placed my hand over his. He looked me in the eye and I knew from then on that he wasn't one to quit. Somehow, that comforted me. I knew he would continue. "At first, I thought it was just a prank he was pulling on me. Like so many other times when we shared a room. So , I followed the trail all the way to the bathroom. The door was closed and there wasn't any sound coming from inside," he began again, his voice perfectly normal. Yet, his eyes remained distant as he watched the events in his head. "I opened the door, and ......and..h...h...he.... was...was just lying there, not moving. He looked like he was sleeping only, he was lying in a pool of his own blood...............By the time we got him to the hospital he was white as the hospital sheets. The doctor said it looked as if he were stabbed in his left shoulder with a broadsword."Next: Chapter 18 |
