When Roses Grow Black Chapter 26 My eyes shot open as I let out a weak scream. I looked around me and tried to think of the last thing I could remember. Suddenly the image of Nick falling to the ground with the sword in his shoulder replayed in my mind. The dream was the only thing my mind allowed me to focus on. I was more disoriented than I had ever been in my entire life. I could barely even remember my own name never mind where I was. I basically knew it was dark. Frustrated, I allowed my mind to take a vacation. The moment my head hit the pillow I was asleep. ææææææ The Dream ææææææææææ "Rose…Rose, please, my dear Princess, wake up," I heard a very familiar voice calling me. I looked from blackness into the deepest pair of blue eyes I had ever seen. A smile broke out on to his beautiful face and brightened my mood all together. "Nickolas," I whispered almost too quietly to be heard. I was partly afraid that if I spoke too loudly he would disappear from in front of me. He was clothed only in his pants and his shirt was working as a bandage for his shoulder. "Oh, my! Are you alright??" I asked worriedly. "Now that I can look in to your eyes, I will be," he replied brushing some hair out of my face. I smiled and couldn't help but blush at the comment. "That is such a cliche," I reprimanded him. "You still blushed," he chuckled. I playfully slapped him in the arm as I tried to stop myself from blushing again although I knew it was no use. "Now Prince Nickolas, I know you wouldn't be in here flirting with my baby sister, now would you??" came a deep raspy voice from the door way. Nick quickly shot around in his kneeling position by my bed to face the doorway behind him. I shyly peaked out from behind Nick to see the owner of the voice. "Would you??" The question came again. "I was just seeing if she were awake," Nick answered, stuttering. "Get out of here," AJ laughed as Nick quickly got up and bolted from the room. "Hello, Alexander," I smiled as AJ made his way over to my bed. It all felt so right. I still didn't have control of my actions, but at this point I didn't really mind. It was like I was just reliving a memory. It looked as if we were in a log cabin some where. I couldn't see out any of the windows because it was night time so I couldn't tell the location. The room I was in was medium sized, and held one other bed across the room from mine. To my right was a fireplace. The fire in it threw welcomed heat onto my cold skin and filled the room with light. To my left was the doorway which led to what seemed to be the parlor or common room. Light from the other room shone brightly into mine. "How is my baby sister doing?" he asked me gently. Did he just call me his baby sister?? "I'm doing alright. I should be asking you how you are doing," I replied as soft smile formed on my face. His right arm was in a sling, and he had cuts and bruises on every part of him. "Besides a broken wrist and being hella soar, I'll be perfectly fine," AJ chuckled as he shrugged. "How is everyone else??" I asked worriedly. "We're battered but we're fine. Kevin was stabbed in arm during an attack on you when he was carrying you. Nickolas gave us quite a scare when he had Vance's sword through his shoulder. We almost lost him. Brian took a good knock on the head, and Howard some how only managed to receive cuts and bruises." AJ informed me. I sighed in relief knowing they were alright, "Thank God." "Hey, your guardians will never let you down!!" AJ said as he got up to leave. Guardians?? That one word bounced around in my mind like a rubber ball on a hard wood floor. I was still in the initial shock that AJ was calling me his 'baby sister'. My mind began to race and I felt my face pale. Guardian's ... that's what Vance had said. Said that even my guardians were helpless. He wasn't talking about my parents, although they were still dead... °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°End Dream°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° I sat straight up in the bed and hit my head on the ceiling. I could faintly feel the motion of whatever I was in. Everything was so jumbled in my mind. I knew one thing for sure at this point. These dreams weren't dreams at all. They were real. I didn't know how, but they were. So who did that make me?? What is the key to all of this madness. Everything was still pitch dark and I knew it was still night. Also, I knew everyone was asleep because no sound could be heard. I jumped as I heard whispered swears coming from above me. I slowly slid out of what I figured was a bunk and tried to peak inside the top bunk. Unfortunately, I was only about 5 feet tall and probably wouldn't even be able to get into the top bunk. I heard more cursing and decided to try a different approach. "Hey? You alright up there?" I whispered taping the bunk and hoping the person heard me. There was a long moment when nothing happened and then unexpectedly, AJ's head popped out from behind the closed curtain of the bunk. He looked surprised for a moment but his face soon contorted into a look of pain. "Are you okay?" I whispered up to him. 'That was a stupid question, Rose. Just look at his face, you idiot!' I yelled at myself. I really had no clue what else to say. "Um,...I um.... I think I broke my wrist somehow," AJ mumbled while avoiding my eye contact. "The dream," I stated casually and watched as he mutely nodded his head, "Com'on down here. If you have a first aid I can take care of your wrist until we get you to a hospital." AJ slowly got down and was very careful of his wrist. Once he had both feet on the floor he looked me in the eye, "We have to talk, too." "Yes, we do," I agreed with him as he lead me to the back of what I figured out was the tour bus.Next: Chapter 27 |
