What's the deal with aLITd?

Webster's definition of "lighthouse"-a tower or other structure displaying a light or lights for the guidance of mariners.

What does a lighthouse do?  It shows the way past trouble.

What is YOUR lighthouse?  Ahhh...this is the clincher here!

Your lighthouse can be anything.  Anything that makes you feel better, happier, and
safe.  It can be a person, a pet, an online support group or webpage, exercise, writing, drawing, gardening.  Anything.

This site is one of my lighthouses.

So, why aLITd as a name?  A Light in the Dark-aLITd, means two things.

1.  A Light in the Dark...a online lighthouse (if you will), guiding the way past trouble.  Through this site, you can find all sorts of support, links and personal stories.

2.  aLITd...make your life LIT!  Find your lighthouse, and hold onto it.

I know that "lighthouses" don't always work.  I know that there are low times when nothing helps but SI-ing.  I've been there.  Hopefully, a lighthouse in your life will help during some of those times, though.

Find your lighthouse, help yourself to be safe.

Remember that you are not alone.
There are people out there who know what you are going through. And are willing to lend an ear, a shoulder, point you in the right direction, or just be there to say "I understand".
