Ms. Lee-Furness graduated from the America Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She has won several best actress awards including honors from the Seattle International Film Festival, the Australian Film Critics Circle Award, and the Variety Award. She also won the Best Actress honor at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain for her performance in Waiting.  She has worked extensively in television and theater, including the Australian tour of the Tony Award winning drama Torch Song Trilogy, and Scar, with Ed Harris at the Met in Los Angeles.
