*2/17 From Ain't it Cool News:"... the managing director of Really Useful Films... told Variety last week that Antonio Banderas and Hugh Jackman still head the list of possible stars for the title role in the projected $50-60 million film." 

4/29 From FilmForce:  "There has also been a rumor connecting Hugh to a movie version of The Phantom of the Opera, which he dispelled. 'They rang to ask about my availability, probably about 20 other actors as well. I wasn't available, unfortunately. So, that was a bummer.'"

Star Wars: Episode III

Confirmed here  on 8/1/02 by producer Rick McCallum. (Around May 2002, there were rumors floating around the net that Hugh was going to be in Star Wars: Episode III because Hugh was seen talking with George Lucas at a Vanity Fair party.  And apparently, at the "Star Wars: Celebration", producer Rick McCallum revealed that Hugh was close to signing on Ep. III.  We now know it's false.  Episode III starts filming in June, when Hugh is still shooting Van Helsing. )

Hugh was one of the main contenders for the role of Billy Floyd in Chicago but the directors went with Richard Gere instead because Hugh was too young.

Grand Theft Parsons

Jackman Steals Grand Theft Parsons
Hugh Jackman has signed on to play the road manager of music pioneer Gram Parsons in the US independent, GRAND THEFT PARSONS. The story follows the road manager and how he took Parsons' body away for a desert funeral in 1973. Jackman will shoot the film when production of X-MEN 2 wraps.

Hugh Jackman has had to drop out of the lead role in a project called Grand Theft Parsons. He has had to drop out due to delays on the filming for X Men 2. He will instead movie onto Van Helsing. The lead role for Grand Theft Parsons has now went to Jackass star Johnny Knoxville.
