The Baby Shower part 2 |
kitty play scale. I’m assuming it came to about a seven in rank out of ten. It was plenty big enough for her to stretch out in. The holes made for easy access to prey, but the plastic gave it no nail sharpening points. I continued to clue Kelda in on how important her role would be in the baby’s life. I reminded her that she will always be my baby kitty and nothing could change that. This seemed to pacify her. I highly doubt that she understood what I was saying. I think she was responding to my tone of voice and the sheer fact that I was making an effort to include her in sorting through baby’s new things. She ended up inspecting everything that night. Booties, blankets, clothes, and diapers- nothing was left without her scent markings. I encouraged this and was pleased she was coming around. She even began chasing my feet and playing in the empty bags. When everything was said and done, I was popped and decided to lie down and watch some TV. Kelda jumped on the bed with me, already purring. After a few good scratches behind her ears, she hopped on my side and settled down for a catnap. It was something she hadn’t done in four months! I’m not sure how Kelda will react when I bring her home a new human brother. This is a new experience for the both of us. I’m hoping she will adapt as well to our new addition as she has everything else. I know from the resentment of the baby’s things that the transition won’t be easy for her. I’m going to continue to treat her as if she were a human sibling of the baby. When the baby gets here, I bet she’ll come around, but only after I get the evil eye for a few days. |
