The Sale:
Mrs. B, a woman of unusual caliber, married to a talmid chochom, mother of a large family, an admired and respected teacher, was faced with several challenges at once. She had just finalized a shidduch with her oldest daughter when a younger child was diagnosed with cancer. With all the pressures of dealing with a sick child while marrying off another, she did not have the head to think of herself, and she was in desperate need of a sheitel. At that point, she could not even begin to think of going to a sheitel macher, finding something to buy, thinking how to style it and with all the medical and chassunah expenses coming at once, she did not have the money to buy a new sheitel, even from us! (Our new sheitels we sell at heavily discounted prices). Baruch Hashem, we found a wig five years old but still in excellent condition that was perfect for her and she bought it at a price she could afford. Five years later, she still thanks us for the sheitel which she wears to all her simchos!
Keren Kol Kallah's annual sheitel sale has been a huge success over the past few years, with thousands of dollars raised to help orhan and destitute Kallahs. But the mitzvah is twofold - in addition to helping a kallah establish her home with the money raised at the sale, we also also enable a woman who could not afford a good quality wig buy the sheitel of her dreams and feel beautiful and special doing the mitzvah of covering her hair. Our grateful customers include kollel wives, ba'alei teshuva, Israeli brides and low income families.
