Candy Apple Re-Paint

1963 850cc brought in 1991 for NZ$500.00 for 2

This started out by buying 2 minis, one of which was a 1972 (seen in the background on the garage floor) The idea was to do up the '72 and cut up the old girl for a trailer for it...hmmmmm....the '63 was in far better condition than first thought, so we repaired the older one. Ended up scrapping the '72 it was too far gone.... :(

Doing a bit of signwriting for a painters workshop has it's advantages, put your mini in his paint shop and voila! A candy apple cutie...Had no idea what colour it was going to be, but figured a paint job for services rendered was better than nothing...knock me over with a feather she didn't look so old after that!!

She was a little goer, survived my husband putting diesel in her a couple of times (yes he gave up panel beating for truck driving a few years back) zipped around the country side in her, a bit slow on take off, but I'm sure we all would be after running the same motor for 30 years with no rebuilds!!

Unfortunately while parked up at my mum's while she and I were in the south island the neighbours son thought it a good idea to take it for a run.... without permission of course and it was never the same again, it was sold to a fella who was going to do wonderful things with it but I believe it ended up at the wreckers... :(

Some people just don't appreciate the sentiment behind the older girls....
