Restoring Red
1979 Leyland, brought in March 2003, for NZ$300.00
This is our son's baby, we brought it one night without him knowing, drove it back about 190km with no WOF (it hasn't had one for three years) So we figured she must be in pretty good nick to run so far without a problem after being neglected for so long. We new she had rust problems, but the body was practically dentless...and after a tune, oil change and brake repair she's (hopefully) mechanicly sound.
Although what was estimated to be a few weekends, has turned into 8 months, a few rolls of welding wire, one holden guard (for patches) two new A panels, a new sill and alot of chasing rust, not one bog repair will be found in this beauty, (apart from the fact my husband is the most fussiest panel beater around, being his sons car it has to be done absolutely right!) No point in risking his life, by bogging it up, even when no one would ever know...we would !
(Note to all you kiwi's did you know you have to have your spare wheel secured in the boot now? bugger the battery it can be floating around but not the spare wheel!! doh!)
