He looked down at her. Her face was so beautiful, but there were tears beginning to form in her eyes, and that broke his heart. "Susan..." before he continued, he glanced around. The lecturer had stopped, and the group was staring at him. He didn't exactly want to have a heart-to-heart conversation with them as an audience. "Can we talk outside, please?" Susan got up as she followed Bosco out of the gallery area. Her mind was spinning. Should she forgive him? What was she going to say? What was she going to do? What was HE going to say or do? Once they were outside, she just stood there. He's the one who came and sought her out here, in the middle of a conference. So, he's probably here to tell her something. "Susan...look, about yesturday, I didn't mean a word I said. I mean, I just, I dunno what got into me. I didn't mean what I said, and, uh..." Bosco was kicking himself mentally. He had no idea what to say or what to do. Everything he had said so far was stupid, and was coming out the wrong way. But before he could say anything else, she interrupted. "Look Bosco, it's probably my fault for eavesdropping. And I won't lie, what you said hurt me. But I know how things get, and I'm willing to hear what you have to say. Just not here. I'm here for work, and that's what I plan to do. So, would you be willing to meet me later today to talk???" The fact that she was even willing to forgive him (for now atleast) floored him. "Sure, uh, how 'bout my apartment? Anytime after 3 will work, I guess. I mean, unless you wanna go somewhere else." "No, your apartment is fine. And how does 5:00 sound? The conference gets over for the day at 4, so that'll give me time to go back to the hotel to drop my stuff off before heading your way. Does that work for you?" "Yea, that's great." Bosco said. Then he gave Susan his address, phone number, cell phone numbers and pager numbers. "Okay, so I'll see you at 5, then?" "5 it is." Susan said as she turned toward the door. "Susan?" Bosco said as she turned around. "I'm gonna make it up to you. I don't know how, but I'll make it up to you." Bosco said before walking away. Susan stood there as she thought to herself "Somehow, that'll be a promise I know he'll keep." Then she turned and walked back into Gallery 108B to finish the lecture. _________________________________________________________________ The day zoomed past after Bosco talked to Susan. After getting back into the car, he just couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. He was just so happy to have talked to her, to have seen her. And the fact that she was even talking to him, amazed him. Now, all he had to do was come up with some sort of a plan to make her forgive him. Something so thoughtful that she'd have to give in. By the end of his shift, at 3, he'd devised a plan. After roll call, he darted straight into the locker room, that way he could get out of there quickly, as to put his plans into action. Sully and Davis, who were just beginning their shift, noticed his hurriedness. "Hey Bos, you got somewhere you need to be?" Sully asked. "Yea, is there some hot chick out in the parking lot that your rushing outta here to get to?" Davis added. "No, I just have obligations this afternoon." he replied. "Yea, so you gonna be at my apartment tonight for the baseball game, beer, and poker." Davis asked Bosco. "No, I have to stop by the flowershop and the grocery store. Then, I need to clean my apartment." "Oh dear lord, he's lost his marbles." Sully said as he rolled his eyes. "Whoa, man, do we need to take you over to Mercy for a psychiatric consult? Are you sick, or something? Those 3 phrases: flowershop, grocery store, and clean, don't exist in your vocabulary." Davis said to Bosco. "Look guys, I don't have time to argue." Bosco said as he grabbed his duffel bag and walked out. Sully and Davis just looked at each other and shrugged, puzzled by Bosco's stange behavior. _______________________________________________________________ Bosco's apartment, NYC, Tues. afternoon, 3:30 P.M. When Bosco grabbed his mail and headed into his apartment he swore under his breath. "Shit..." He hadn't realized how messy his apartment was until now. He certainly didn't want Susan seeing his apartment like this. Putting in his favorite Blink182 CD and cranking the volume way up, he began the unpleasant task of cleaning his apartment. _______________________________________________________________ Bosco's apartment, Tues. afternoon, 5:00 P.M.
