PICKUPS WAYLAND'S 341 points
in four games set a new STATE TORUNAMENT RECORD. by
scoring 341, the WASPS finished the season with 3,701
points in 41 games-- a lofty average of 90.2 a
contest . that is perhaps an all-time RECORD for a
high school-- in KENTUCKY or in the WORLD!! MARKS MAY ENDURE teammates EDMOND HALL, MELVIN ROBINSON, BILL
FULTZ AND BILLY COMBS also may have established some
sort of record as all averaged in the double figures
during the season. HALL had a 17 point per game
mark.ROBINSON 12, FULTZ and COMBS 10
each. speaking
of WAYLAND, COLEMAN isn't the only good player on the
WASP squad. in fact, he isn't the only big man on the
club. the shortest is 6-1, and WAYLAND has four of
those. At forward are senior BILL FULTZ and junior
BILL COMBS; sophomore MELVIN ROBINSON is at center
with EDMOND HALL a senior runnin at guard with
COLEMAN.
EVAN
SETTLE, coach of the shelbyville red devils was
questioned yesterday how he planned to play
WAYLAND-AND-COLEMAN-in the opening game of the

the slightest idea." getting back to
COLEMAN again. the WAYLAND WARRIOR tallied 147 POINTS
in three regional tournament appearances-an average
of exactly 49 an outing.

KELLY RIGHTLY DESERVES THE TITLE
"KING KELLY" because his remarkable feats rank him
with the all-time great basketeers.
some may feel
they have read or heard enough about the KING OF THE
MOUNTAINS, but his record is so fantastic that it
seems next to impossible. perhaps after today this
column will venture into another field, but i believe
that KING KELLY is well worth all the publicity he
has-or will-receive. he is a tribute to KENTUCKY HIGH
SCHOOL BASKETBALL.
i had not forgotten them"
