"Battle of Nori Nanba"
Chapter 13


The sun was setting when Nori Nanba walked up to the house. Everyone but her Father and Inuyasha was sitting outside, her Mother walks over to her and hugs her, "I am so glad to see you are all right."

"I am fine; Lord Sesshomaru is not going to hurt me." Nori tells her.

Rin comes over to her and pulls on her dress. "Nori, where is Lord Sesshomaru?"

"He will be back tonight after everyone is in bed Rin, to keep any more conflicts from happening." Noir says.

"I have never seen someone hate someone as much as he does his brother." Her Mother says.

"Where is Inuyasha?" Nori Nanba asks.

Kagome tells her, "Inside in the medical room with your father."

Nori goes inside to see him, when she gets in there she see Inuyasha sitting on the bed, she starts to cry, remembering how she could not get to him after Sesshomaru had attacked him.

Inuyasha looks up at her, "Nori are you all right? They told me Sesshomaru had run off with you and he was pissed!"

He walks over to her and hugs her he places his hands on her shoulders pushing her away slightly looking at her, “You smell like Sesshomaru, you reek of his scent.”

Inuyasha looks upset and he asks her, "Have you and Sesshomaru been... well have you two... has Sesshomaru... has anything happened between you two?"

Nori looks at Inuyasha she says nothing to him, Inuyasha gets angry, "You two have been together, haven't you?! I knew it I can smell it all over you... I can smell him all over you. Why Nori, why Sesshomaru?! He is a killer and if you cross him, he will kill you as well! He does not love you! He feels obligated to you because you saved Rin he feels he owes you." Inuyasha tells her.

"Inuyasha listen to you he feels obligated to me. You know your brother better than that, he feels obligated to no one! If he did not love me or have some kind of feelings for me why does he want to be with me?" Nori asks.

"I do not know why he wants to be with you, but I know he cannot love you he does not know the first thing about love. His heart is to cold to know love has he told you he loves you?" Inuyasha asks.

"No, he has not and it does not matter if he loves me or not. I love him and I want to be with him and as long as he wants me by his side I will be there for him!"

Inuyasha hugging her again says, "He will kill you or get you killed because of your love for him. Please Nori get away from him I do not want to see you get hurt!"

She pulls away from Inuyasha smiling, "I will be fine, please do not worry about me!"


As it gets later in the evening and everyone settles in for bed, Nori Nanba is putting Rin down to sleep, "Why can I not stay up with you to see Lord Sesshomaru?" Rin asks her.

"Because it is too late for you to be up sweetie and it will be even later when he gets here." Nori Nanba tells her. Rin yawns as she says, "But I want to see him too!"

"I know you do Rin and I will talk to him about coming to see you or us and going somewhere with him so you can spend some time with him." Nori tells her.

"Why does Inuyasha have to be here? He is always messing things up for Lord Sesshomaru. He just needs to give Lord Sesshomaru the Tetsusaiga and go away!" Rin says.

“Rin that is not nice, the Tetsusaiga belongs to Inuyasha his father left it for him! How would you feel if someone tried to take something away from you that your mother or father left for you?" Nori asks her.

"I do not know," Rin, says, "I do not remember them, but I know if you or Lord Sesshomaru gave me something and someone tried to take it away, I would be hurt and upset and then I would kick their butts!"

"Well then, you now see why Inuyasha gets so mad at Sesshomaru." Nori tells her.

"I guess your right." Rin says yawning again.

"All right now get some sleep you little sleepy head and I will see you in the morning." Nori Nanba gives Rin a hug and a kiss and tells her, “Goodnight.”

Walking out of the room, she hears Rin, "Goodnight Mother I love you."

"I love you too sweetie, sleep well and sweet dreams." Nori tells her.

Walking out into the hall Nori Nanba turns after closing the door on Rins room running right into Inuyasha. He catches her in his arms, "Thank you," He says to her.

"For what?" Nori asks him.

"For telling Rin what you told her about Sesshomaru and me." Inuyasha says.

"She is a child Inuyasha. I do not want her growing up learning to live with hate!" Nori says.

"You know with her being with him she will be just like him." Inuyasha tells her.

"Well she is not with him, she is with me, and as long as she is with me she will learn that hating is wrong!" Nori says pulling away from Inuyasha.

Nori looks at Inuyasha and asks him, "Why are you not in bed?" Nori starts to walk down the hall.

"I cannot sleep," He says to her following.

"Really, are you sure that is why?" Nori Nanba asks look over at him.

Inuyasha is smiling at her, "Sure it is, why else would I be up?"

"Inuyasha, I will not have you out where Sesshomaru can see you when he gets here tonight, I will not have again what happened earlier. Do you hear me?" Nori says to him with a cross look walking out side.

"He needs his ass kicked for this and if you think I am going to let him get away with it you are as crazy as he is." Inuyasha said to her, "Anyway, you have spent enough time with him today you do not need to be with him again tonight." Inuyasha says to Nori Nanba, looking very upset at her.

Nori Nanba looks at Inuyasha, "You are not my father, you will not tell me what I can and cannot do, and if you interfere tonight when he gets here I will kick your butt. Got it!"

Inuyasha looks at her with a funny look on his face smiling and says, "I would like to see that one!" Nori stops looking at him.

"Inuyasha, I am serious you will be inside when he gets here, out of sight! Do you hear me?!" Nori orders him.

Inuyasha looks at her and says, "Fine, but I will be watching and if he makes one move toward you that I do not like. He gets it."

"Inuyasha, stay out of it and leave us be! He is not going to hurt me!" Nori tells him.

"That is what you say." Inuyasha turns and walks back into the house.

Nori Nanba goes to the well were she told Sesshomaru she would meet him that night sitting down on the edge of it she gets a cold chill and wraps her arms around herself.

"That is my job," she hears.

She turns to see Lord Sesshomaru standing there behind her. "What is your job?" She asks him.

"To keep you warm," He walks toward her and takes her in his arms pulling her close to him she wraps her arms around him pulling him close as well. Placing his cheek next to hers his lips are next to her ear.

"I can smell Inuyasha on you." He whispers, "Why?"

"I saw him coming out of Rin's room after putting her to bed." Nori says.

"His scent is to strong on you for you to have just seen him." Sesshomaru tells her.

"I ran into him, well... I fell into him he caught me in his arms." Nori tells him.

"You were in Inuyasha's arms?!" Sesshomaru says sounding almost jealous.

"Only for a second Sesshomaru please do not do this." Nori says to him, "I know you do not like Inuyasha, but he is here with his friends to see me and I am not going to chase them away they are my friends to."

"I do not want him touching you and I do not want his scent on you at all!" Sesshomaru says then starts to laugh, "I would have to say he was upset when you came back from being with me today, he knew exactly what went on between us with my scent all over you.”

“He is afraid you are going to kill me or get me killed." Nori tells him.

"He is a fool Nori, do not listen to him he does not know what he is talking about!" Sesshomaru pulls away from her a little, putting his hand on her chin and lifting her head to look at him, "Do you believe him, do you believe I would hurt or kill you or let someone else hurt or kill you?"

Nori looks into his eyes she can see how much softer they have become since they have been together, but that coldness and hatred he possess, is still there.

"Do you believe him Nori?" He asks her again.

"No, I do not believe you would hurt or kill me and I do not believe you would let someone do harm to me or those I love as well." Nori smiles still looking into his eyes then her mind flashes to Inuyasha, ‘Did he tell you he loves you?’

She walks away from Sesshomaru. "Nori," He calls to her walking toward her, "Is there something wrong?"

"Lord Sesshomaru" Nori says she turns looking at him making their eyes meet. “I am In Love You." Waiting for his reply a tear rolls down her cheek.

Sesshomaru places his hand on her cheek whipping away the tear with his thumb. "If you love me why do you cry?" He asks her.

"Because I feel you will never love me as I will love you." Nori tells him.

"You feel that?" He asks her.

"Yes I feel you care for me very much, but I feel no love within your heart for me." Nori tells him.

He reaches out to her with his other hand placing it on her hip and pulling her into him, his other hand still on her cheek he starts to kiss her. He stops pulling away from her a little he whispers, "I love you in my own way Nori, please tell me that is good enough for you."

Nori wraps her arms around him she tells him, "Yes that will be good enough for me." Sesshomaru wraps his arms around her tighter.

Nori and Sesshomaru sit down under a tree talking and holding each other as Nori Nanba finally falls asleep in his arms. Sesshomaru picks her up taking her to her room, he lays her in her bed, as she awakes seeing him undressing himself he lies down beside her, "You are staying with me Sesshomaru?" Nori says.

"Yes," He tells her, "I want to be with you tonight."

Nori Nanba slips out of her dress, he takes her in his arms pulling her close to him feeling her warm soft skin against his.


The morning sun shines through Nori Nanba's window. As she awakens, she finds herself still wrapped in Lord Sesshomaru's arms.

"Good morning," She says to him.

"Good morning," He says to her kissing her atop her head.

Just about then, Rin comes running into the room yelling something about her talking to Lord Sesshomaru and spending time with him today.

"Rin stop right there." Sesshomaru says to her.

Rin sees Lord Sesshomaru and Nori Nanba in Nori’s bed she gets this surprised look on her face turns red and runs out. Nori Nanba gets out of bed to dress and go after her.

While Nori Nanba is getting dressed, Rin runs into Kagome and Inuyasha. Kagome stops Rin seeing she is embarrassed about something, "What is it Rin, are you all right?"

She looks at Kagome and tells her, “I just saw Lord Sesshomaru in Nori's bed.”

"Oh, OH MY!" Kagome exclaims.

Kagome goes to look beside her and Inuyasha is gone, he is headed inside the house.

"Inuyasha," She yells, "Stop!" Inuyasha keeps on going.

Just as he gets to Nori bedroom door Nori walks out.

"Inuyasha, good morning," Nori says to him.

"You reek of him!" Inuyasha says to her, "Where is he!"

"Inuyasha," Nori says Inuyasha pushes Nori aside and burst into the room. Lord Sesshomaru still lying in the bed pushes himself up on his elbows and looks at Inuyasha.

"Do you need something Inuyasha?" Sesshomaru says to him.

"You Bas..."

"OUT!" Inuyasha hears with Nori Nanba in his face, "GET OUT OF MY ROOM NOW INUYASHA!" Nori pushes him out of her room and closes the door behind them.

Inuyasha can see Sesshomaru in her bed smiling at him.

"W... What is he doing in there?!" Inuyasha orders Nori to tell him.

"That is NONE of your business." Nori tells him, "Now go and do not come back to this end of the hall again do you understand me. Go!" Nori turns Inuyasha around and starts to push him down the hall out the front door.

When she gets outside she see Rin with a big smile on her face, Nori could not help but smile back at her even though she was upset at her for bursting into her room. Rin pulls her down, gives her a really big hug, and tells her, “I love you.”

“I love you as well Rin, but we do not just barge into people’s rooms we knock first and when they say it is all right for you to come in. Then you walk in."

Still smiling at Nori Rin tells her, "All right I am sorry, it will not happen again."

"Thank you," Nori says to Rin.

"Did you talk to him yet about spending time with me today?" Rin says.

"No I have not, but I will as soon as he gets out here all right." Nori tells her.

Rin starts to jump up and down saying, “Can we go on a picnic today. Just us three please, please, please?" Rind begs.

"I think that would great." Nori and Rin hear Lord Sesshomaru say behind them. Nori Nanba stands up and he takes her in his arms and kisses her. Inuyasha is standing right there watching them. Inuyasha starts to move forward and Kagome stops him. Inuyasha gets mad and stomps off the other way.

Kagome looks at Miroku, "Go with him I do not trust him. I do not want anything to happen like yesterday."

"Yes," Miroku says, "I agree," He runs off after Inuyasha.

"Well then I guess I have better get inside, get our breakfast fixed, and pack us a lunch for our picnic so we can get a move on." Nori says.

"I will help you mother." Rin says.

"Great," Nori Nanba says, "Let us go do it then."

Sesshomaru looks at Rin and Nori with a confused look on his face as they walk inside.

"She has been calling Nori mother for sometime now." Sango said to him.

Sesshomaru turns to look at Sango and Kagome, standing behind him. "Has she?" He asks.

"Rin really loves Nori a lot." Kagome says.

"They have gotten really close since you have left Rin here." Sango adds.

"It is going to rip Nori's heart out when you take Rin away from here and away from her." Sango says.

"Who said I was going to take Rin from Nori. I know what you are thinking and you are wrong." Sesshomaru said to them, "Rin needs a mother she does not need to be wondering the land with me it is not safe for her to be out there with me, but I am not with Nori because of Rin!"

"We never said you were Sesshomaru." The girls say to him, "But you have to admit it looks very funny on your part how this is all working out with Rin and Nori and you do not have to mess with Rin any more when you are out there." The girls can see they are upsetting Sesshomaru so they stop talking.

After sometime has passed Sesshomaru finally says to them, "You are wrong, I care very deeply for Rin and Nori both and having Rin here has been helpful, but I miss them both when I am away from here. It is just too dangerous for either of them to be with me as long as Naraku is still out there and alive."


Just then Rin comes running out, "It is done everyone come on in and eat before it gets cold.” Rin runs over to Sesshomaru taking his hand and says, “Come on father." Rin stops and turns red as she giggles.

Sesshomaru standing there shocked, as Kagome, Sango and Shippo giggle as well. Sesshomaru looks at them in disapproval. He then follows Rin into the house.

"Shippo," Kagome says, "Go get Inuyasha and Miroku so they can eat too."

"All right," Shippo says to her, and runs off to get them.

Nori Nanba sits Sesshomaru at the farthest end of the table to keep him and Inuyasha apart she goes to sit next to Sesshomaru. Inuyasha, Miroku, and Shippo walk in. She gets back up and tells them that she has fixed them a place to sit right here. Inuyasha keeps his eyes on Sesshomaru all though the meal. Rin is telling Nori Nanba's parents and everyone how she, Nori, and Lord Sesshomaru are going on a picnic later and how much fun they are going to have spending the day together.

Inuyasha gets up from the table, "I cannot stomach this any longer I will be outside if anyone is looking for me." Inuyasha says.

"Inuyasha," Kagome says.

"Let him go Kagome." Sesshomaru says to her, "Good riddance," Sesshomaru adds, "He was making me sick just looking at him."

Kagome hangs her head and says, "I just wish you two could get along for one day without being hateful to each other.” Kagome gets up to go after Inuyasha.

Sesshomaru looking mad goes to get up and Nori Nanba puts her hand on his leg to stop him he sits back down next to her.


After everything had been cleaned up Nori Nanba gets the lunch together and walks outside where everyone is taking. Lord Sesshomaru and Rin are sitting with her parents, Inuyasha and the others are nowhere to be seen.

"All right then are we ready to go?" Nori calls to them.

"Yes," Rin yells as she jumps up and gives hugs to Nori's mother and father.

"I will see you in a little while." Rin tells them.

"You all have fun and come back safe.” Nori’s mother tells them.

"Oh, we will be safe." Rin tells them, "Lord Sesshomaru will be with us he would never let anything happen to Nori or me."

Rin smiles running to Nori Nanba and Sesshomarus sides taking their hands into hers. Yoshi looks at Haruki and says, "Do you think Lord Sesshomaru loves Nori and Rin?"

Haruki takes her hand and says to her, "I believe he does in his own way, yes... I believe he does."

After about a thirty-minute walk Rin says, "This is perfect," they stop and Nori looks around.

"It is very pretty Rin."

"It is perfect," Rin says again, "The flowers and the stream and look over there." Rin points above the trees, “It is a rainbow.”

Nori says smiling, "Your right it is perfect!"

Nori spreads the blanket on the ground and Rin goes running off to chase butterflies. Sesshomaru shakes his head, "That child,"

Nori Nanba looks at him smiling, "You care very much for her maybe even love her. I can see it in your eyes and I can feel it in your heart."

He reaches for Nori’s hand pulling her to him sitting her on his lap, “Then why is it so hard for you to see how I feel for you?" He asks her.

"Because you are afraid to love me, you will not let yourself love a human or a half-breed, and I am both." Nori says to him.

Nori touches his cheek and tells him, "You only see what your eyes want to see. So how can your life be what it should be? When your heart it is unmoving and it is not opened. You are so obsessive with how much you get you waste all your time on hate and regret.”

Nori smiles at him continuing, “If I could only melt the icy layer over your heart. Our love is like a bird…,” she says, "It needs to fly let go of the all the hurt and pain inside of you. Your heart is frozen when you do not let love inside.”

“I promise you I will never hurt you and I will always be there for you and Rin, but you are the only one that can let me in your heart. You are the key."

Sesshomaru looks her in the eyes and places her hand on his heart, "I give my heart to you Nori, I give it all to you only promise me that you will never destroy it."

She looks at him with a tear in her eye, "I promise you Lord Sesshomaru, I will never bring you an ounce of pain, only love." They share a kiss.

Rin was standing near by and yells, "YUCK," with a big smile on her face looking right it them.

Nori and Sesshomaru laugh at her, "All right young lady." Nori grabs her, "Are you ready to eat?"

"Yes, I am starving" Rin says.

"Good then, lunch is served." Nori tells her.


While they are sitting there enjoying their lunch, Rin gets a scared looked on her face and Sesshomaru is looking into the sky.

"Wait here, I will be back." He says and he is up and gone.

"Rin sweetie what is wrong?" Rin points to the sky.

Nori Nanba looks up, "What are those things they look like giant bees?"

"They are Naraku's," Rin says.

"Naraku," Nori says, “Come here Rin,” She takes Rin in her arms and holds her knowing she is afraid from what Rin has told her about what happened when Naraku took her last time.

"I will not let them near you; you are safe here with me." Sesshomaru comes back from within the forest he attacks the bees with the Tokijin taking them all out but one that got out of the way of the strike of the sword.

Rin jumps up yelling out, “One is getting away Lord Sesshomaru.”

"Yes, I see that Rin. You two need to go back to the village. Au-un, Jaken," He called, "Take Nori and Rin back to the village tell Inuyasha that Naraku is close and if he lets anything happen to Nori or Rin, he will pay with his life!"

"My Lord, you know if I tell Inuyasha that you picked up Naraku's scent he will come after him with you." Jaken says.

"You tell him I do not want his help, I will kill Naraku on my own, he is to stay there and keep Nori and Rin safe!" Sesshomaru runs off back into the forest after Naraku.

As they are walking for sometime, with Jaken still grumbling under is breath.

"Master Jaken." Rin says to him, “Look,” She points to the sky, seeing more of Naraku's Saimyosho.

"You little pest!" Jaken yells at them as they quickly swooped in and grabbed Nori. Trying to get away from them, Nori Nanba screams, with Rin yelling, "Kill them Master Jaken save Nori do not let them take her."

Inuyasha runs out from the trees with Kagome and the others fast behind him. Inuyasha kills them all, "Where the hell is Sesshomaru?" Inuyasha is yelling at Jaken.

Inuyasha holding Nori in his arms, as she is crying, "Are you all right Nori?" Inuyasha asks her.

"Yes I am fine why did they come after me?" She asked still crying. Sesshomaru comes running through the forest.

"Well," Inuyasha says, "Now is a fine time to show up Naraku's Saimyosho almost made it off with Nori so much for you keeping her safe. You failed Sesshomaru!"

"Lord Sesshomaru kill the whelp!" Jaken says to him.

Sesshomaru looks at Inuyasha and tells him, "Thank you Inuyasha." Sesshomaru places his hand on Nori for her to come to him. Inuyasha is shocked by his brother’s actions and can say nothing.

Nori goes to Sesshomaru he places his hand on her head stroking her hair, "I am sorry Nori that I was not here to protect you and Rin, it will never happen again."

Sesshomaru picks the sobbing Nori up into his arms and tells everyone they are going to the village. "Inuyasha if you want to go after Naraku one of his Saimyosho flew off to the north you will find him that way his scent is coming very strong from there." Sesshomaru tells him.

Inuyasha looks at his brother, "But... wait a minute." Inuyasha yells, "You are not going after him?"

"I have to get Nori and Rin back to the village safely first. Once they are safe I will go after him."

Inuyasha is still shocked and just stands there, as Lord Sesshomaru walks away.
