“Curse or God Sent” Chapter 8
‘The Demon’s Emerge’


When the doctor finally showed up at the hotel Sanzo and Laney are sitting in Laney and Nori’s room as the others are standing around out in the hall. The doctor is rushed in by Goku.

“What’s going on here this young man here keeps going on about a young lady that was hurt?” the doctor said.

“Yes doctor, our friend here she is not doing well.” Laney says as she motions toward Nori. Nori was lying in bed she was pale and very cold to the touch even though she was wrapped in her blankets.

The doctor rushed to Nori’s side as he asks them, “What happen to this girl?” The doctor pulled down the blanket to see she had been wounded. He lifts her shirt and saw the wound on her side. No one answered the doctor as he looked Nori over.

“This girl is not human is she?” The doctor asks looking at Sanzo. Sanzo looks up at Laney that was standing at the foot of her bed. Laney had her arms crossed over her chest as the doctor looked at Laney.

“Tell me so I can help her or she could die here.” The doctor said. Laney hangs her head as she speaks to the doctor.

“She is one of the Last Children.” The doctor looks at Laney in shock.

“That cannot be if she was one of the Last Children she would not be like this, they are much stronger then this and she is too young for the curse to be killing her so soon. Now tell me the truth?” The doctor tells Laney. Sanzo looks at Laney as she does not speak to him.

“Laney tell the doctor what is really going on with Nori or we could lose her.” Kougaiji says as he walks into the room hearing what was going on. Laney turns looking at Kougaiji a tear rolled down her cheek.

“Fine then I will if you will not.” Kougaiji tells her. He walks over to the doctor and tells him what’s going on with Nori.

“She is one of the Last Children doctor, but she is not only that.” Kougaiji looks at Laney she hangs her head still not talking, the others walk into the room to hear what Kougaiji is saying. Hakkai walks over to Laney and wraps his arm around her for comfort for he done knew the truth about the girls.

“Nori and Laney are half Gods and was cursed by a God which is their Grandfather; the curse he cast upon them was a curse of demon blood.” Kougaiji tells him.

“My God man, you mean to tell me this child has two curses on her and the blood of a God as well coursing with her body.” The doctor said. Kougaiji looks at the doctor and nods. Sanzo looks at Nori and shakes his head.

“I should have known if you said a God had cursed your families.” Sanzo said at a whisper to Nori caressing her hair.

He looks up at the doctor saying, “Can you help her?” Sanzo asks him.

“I can fix the wound as for the rest goes…” the doctor pauses, “She needs a Priest. With the Chi of a demon and the Chi of the Last Children within her and then the blood of a God, the poor child has Armageddon going on with her soul.” The doctor tells them.

“The battle between good and evil.” Gojyo says. Sanzo gets to his feet as he starts to walk out of the room.

“Take care of her wound doctor, I will do the rest.” Sanzo tells him. “I want the rest of you out of this room when I return.” Sanzo tells them as he walk out going to his room.

“But Sanzo…” Laney calls out to him.

Sanzo turns and looks at her with a cold look, “Do you want her to die Laney?” Sanzo asks her.

“No… No of course I do not, but this has never been done with her before. If the curse of the Last Children comes out in her like it did a few days ago she could kill you.” Laney tells him.

“I can handle Nori if that happens. I want you all out of here is that understood.” Sanzo tells Laney and the others. They all nod as Sanzo walks into his room.


The doctor finishes up on Nori as Sanzo walks back into the room Laney, Hakkai and the doctor are the only people still in the room. The doctor looks at Sanzo as he walks toward him in his robe and in full dress.

“You are a Sanzo Priest?” The doctor says to him, Sanzo nods.

“Are you done with her doctor?” Sanzo asks him. The doctor nods as he stands he looks at Sanzo.

“Thank you then I will take over from here.” Sanzo tells him. The doctor bows to Sanzo and leaves the room as he turns.

“Good luck my son you will need it for the fight you are getting ready to take on.” The doctor tells him walking out.

Sanzo looks at Hakkai, “Sanzo tell me something before we leave?” Hakkai asks him.

“What is that Hakkai?” Sanzo said.

“Why did your banishing gun not kill her when you shot her?” Hakkai asks.

“I cannot answer that question Hakkai for I do not know the answer, but I think it is trying to, that wound of hers should have been healed by now. Now please leave.” Sanzo tells them.

Hakkai leads Laney to the door as they start to walk out. Laney turns looking at Sanzo, “Please Sanzo save her, and be safe.” Laney tells him walking from the room closing the door behind them.

Sanzo walks to the door and locks it behind them. Then goes back to Nori’s side and kneels at her bedside. He kisses her on her forehead and whispers into the silence of the room to her, “I know you are in there Nori and I will need your help on this, be strong for me and fight this…” Sanzo pauses, “Come back to me Nori.” Sanzo draws back from her and starts his prayers for her.

Later in the guy’s room everyone is setting around waiting for news on what is going on across the hall. The sun starts to set as Hakkai stands looking down at Laney, “Come on I am taking you out for dinner, just you and I maybe that will help you get your mind off this.” Hakkai tells her reaching out to her with his hand.

Laney smiles at Hakkai as she takes his hand, “That sounds so good Hakkai.” Laney and Hakkai walk from the room.

Hakkai and Laney go to a little cozy restaurant down the street that they had not been to yet, but had heard it was very good. When they walk into the place they see the tables are covered with white table linens and candles that were lit in the center of the tables.

“Well this is very nice this should set a different mood for us.” Hakkai says leading Laney to a table, Laney smiles as she goes to take a seat as Hakkai pulls out the chair for her. The waitress comes to their table and introduces herself handing them a menu and getting their drink order, then tells them she will be right back with their drinks and to get their order. Hakkai looks at Laney and can see she is worried about Nori and what is going on right at the moment.

“So Laney tell me what do you think of the village so far?” Hakkai says. Laney gives him a strange look and starts to laugh.

Hakkai places his hand to the back of his head and gives a slight chuckle, “Sorry I was just trying to get your mind off Nori and try to ease it some.” Hakkai says.

“Thank you Hakkai that is very sweet of you.” Laney tells him. They both start to laugh as the conversation drifts in to something better helping Laney slowly get her mind from Nori. They order their food and sit and chat as the night goes on.

After they finished their dinner they sat and enjoyed a cup of tea laughing as Hakkai was telling Laney about one of the stops they had made in a small village one day coming across Kougaiji and his group. Laney laughed as Hakkai told his story to her. Laney reaches across the table and places her hand on top of Hakkai’s, he pauses for a few minutes looking at Laney, he smiles turning his hand over and holding her hand in his as he finishes his story.

While they sit and talk the world passes, them by the hours flew by so quickly they did not realize how late it was getting. When all of a sudden a villager comes running into the restaurant in a panic. The lady that was waiting on Hakkai and Laney asks what was going on.

“There is a demon or something that just jump down to the street from out of the window of the hotel! It is killing and destroying everyone and everything in its way!” The villager said in a panic. Hakkai and Laney look at one another jumping up from the table and running outside they look around seeing a path of bodies and destruction leading toward the forest.

Hakkai turns and looks at the villager, “Was anyone following it… a group of guys?” Hakkai asks him.

“No it was just the demon.” The villager said. Hakkai takes Laney’s hand as they run toward the hotel. Laney stops jerking Hakkai backwards.

"Laney what are you doing?" Hakkai exclaims.

“I have to go find her Hakkai; I have to stop her before she kills others.” Laney says.

“We will but let’s check on the others and get them first.” Hakkai says.

Laney looks at Hakkai as she pulls away from him backing up, “I am sorry Hakkai there is no time…” Laney turns and starts to run calling back to him, “I have to go find her now. Go to the others and make sure they are all right I will be fine.”

Hakkai steps forward in the direction Laney ran off in and then turned and ran toward the hotel to check on Sanzo and the others. When he got to their floor he sees both doors standing wide open he runs to Laney and Nori’s room first.

“Hakkai, Nori… she… turned into… into… I do not know what she was but she was not a demon.” Goku tells him.

“Is everyone all right in here?” Hakkai asks them.

“Sanzo is…” Kougaiji starts to tell him as Sanzo stands,

“I am fine let’s go find her and stop her.” Sanzo says. Sanzo has blood dripping from his fingers were Nori attacked him and hurt his arm.

“Sanzo we will go find her you need a doctor.” Hakkai tells him, Sanzo gives him a cold dirty look as he walks past him out the door.

“Or not…” Hakkai says. He watches Sanzo walk down the hall to the stairs.

“Nori cannot be stopped now you will have to kill her to stop her.” Kougaiji tells Hakkai.

Sanzo turns around looking at everyone standing in the hall now, “If anyone kills her they will answer to me understood!” Sanzo says in an irate tone. He walks down the stairs as everyone follows him out.

When they get to the street they all stop looking around at the destruction Nori has done the people she has killed that were in the streets.

“My God Nori did this?” Gojyo said.

“Yes she did she ran toward the forest, Laney went after her.” Hakkai said.

“We have to go help her, Nori might kill Laney!” Goku exclaims.

“Laney will be the only one of us that might be able to stop her.” Yaone said.

They all look at Yaone, "Remember Laney and Nori are the same, the only difference is Laney does not have the curse of the Last Children.” Jin said.

“Which make Nori even more dangerous and more powerful then any of us.” Sanzo says in a cold tone walking toward the forest. They all start running to get to Laney and Nori. When they get to a clearing of the forest next to the river they stop as they see something move behind a tree.

Goku goes to check it out, “Be careful Goku.” Yaone whispers to him. Goku nods as he walks slowly to the tree.

Everyone keeps an eye open for Laney and Nori, Goku yells out, “SHIT!!” They all look toward Goku as they see Laney standing there in her demon form and Goku sitting on the ground a few feet from her.

“Laney are you all right.” Hakkai yells out to her.

She looks at Hakkai and the others, “Nori is over this way.” Laney says as she runs off from them.

Hakkai seen she was hurt. When they made it to were Laney lead them Nori jumps down from a tree and attacks Goku pining him against a tree holding him by his throat.

“You are the only one worthy of fighting me.” Nori tells him looking into his eyes. Gojyo and Jin try attacking Nori while her back is turned looking at Goku, she turns away from Goku backhanding Jin as he flew into Gojyo taking them both down.

“Get off me dude your heavy.” Gojyo says. He noticed Jin is knocked out cold. He pushes him off him when he sees Yaone and Kougaiji go after Nori next, Hakkai is calling upon his Chi to help them out as Kougaiji is calling upon his dragon power. Yaone throws a few of her bombs at her to keep her distracted and her attention on her.

Laney steps in and grabs Nori’s arm that has a hold of Goku as she bends in up and gets her to release Goku,

“Go Goku get away from her now.” Laney tells him. She holds on to Nori’s arm as Goku gets away Nori strike Laney with her other hand as Laney is brought to her knees but does not let go of Nori’s arm.

“Let me go Laney, you know you cannot stop me.” Nori tells her.

“Watch me…” Laney says as she jumps up kicking Nori in the chest sending her back into a tree. Nori hits the tree hard as she slides down it hitting the ground. Laney is right there on top of her before she can get up as Laney grabs Nori picking her up off the ground. Nori hits Laney on both sides of her head making Laney drop her to her feet. Nori jumps straight up as Hakkai and Kougaiji release their chi on to Nori. Nori stops in mid air as she watches the energy forces come toward her.

“Move Nori!!” Goku yells at her but she does not move.

Goku sees Nori reach behind her and pull a sword the same ice blue sword he seen earlier that day. She points it straight at Hakkai and Kougaiji’s energy source coming at her the sword came to life, it glowed an icy blue like Nori’s eyes. The sword sent out an energy source of its own making a shield in front of Nori, Hakkai and Kougaiji’s Chi was sent back at them Sanzo and Yaone tackle Hakkai and Kougaiji getting them away from the blast that was sent back at them.

Laney goes after Nori again as Goku springs to life to go help her. Laney and Goku where on each side of Nori as they attack her knocking her back to the ground, Nori lays there for a few minutes as Gojyo and Sanzo walk toward her. Laney and Goku join them and stand around her. As the others join in as well.

“So you think all of you together can stop me? You make me laugh and you all make me sick. Come on I will show you how it is done.” Nori tells them.

Two at a time attack Nori as she sends them flying off in different direction. Gojyo as she attacks him breaking his weapon and almost breaking his leg. Kougaiji as she slashes down his chest. Jin and Yaone get their arms hurt. Lirin slashed across her back. Goku gets kicked and punched in the face. Hakkai was thrown into a tree and knocked out. Laney went to attack her when Sanzo stopped her.

“She will stop you to Laney she is too strong.” Sanzo looks at everyone Nori has stopped in their attack; he raises his gun pointing it right at Nori.

“HA, you all ready tried that Sanzo remember…” Nori lifts her shirt a shows Sanzo the wound he gave her 4 days ago. “It does not work on me.” Laney looks at Sanzo saying.

“No Sanzo do not do that!”

“She has to be stopped or she will kill us, it will not kill her but it will slow her down so we can get her under control.” Sanzo says.

Nori starts walking toward Sanzo as she talks to him, “Then shoot me Sanzo, can you shoot the women you have fallen in love with? Can you do it?”

Sanzo cannot look at Nori as he holds his gun out to shoot her. He slowly pulls the hammer back on the gun as the chamber spins, he can still hear Nori taunt him to shoot her and how he cannot do it.

“Are you strong enough to do it? Look me in the eyes Sanzo and shoot me.”

Sanzo looks up at Nori and whispers, “Forgive me Nori…” and the gun goes off twice.

Nori stands there as she has two gunshot wounds in her she reaches down and touches the one in her stomach with a look of shock on her face. She drops to her knees and falls to her hands a few minutes later. Laney runs to her side and catches her just before she falls completely to the ground.

“Nori… Nori…” Laney calls out to her. Nori opens her eyes as the icy blue color swirls around in them. She smiles at Nori.

“He did it he shot m…” Nori passes out. Laney puts her necklace back on going back to her human form as Sanzo walks over to her and Nori; he picks Nori up and starts to walk away.

“Take care of the others I have to get Nori taken care of.” Sanzo tells her walking away into the darkness of the forest.


Sanzo walks back into the village carrying Nori seeing the havoc and deaths she has caused he looks down on her as he carriers here to see the doctor. Sanzo hears a voice calling to him as he turns looking in the direction the voice is coming. Sanzo sees his Aunt the Merciful Goddess standing in the doorway of the Inn.

“You know he is not going to help her after what she did. Why are you even going there to see him?” She asks Sanzo.

“She needs help or she will die.” Sanzo says cold tone. Before Sanzo knew it she was standing right in front of Nori and him. The Merciful Goddess touches Nori’s cheek moving her hair from her face.

“Why do you care if she lives or dies, you never cared before about anyone why now… why this one, Konzen?”

She asks him. Sanzo growls under his breath turning and starts to walk away, “That’s none of your business!” Sanzo says. She laughs at him as she crosses her arms over her chest.

“Like you can keep things hidden from me Konzen, I know you have given your heart to this girl and after you said you would never get close to anyone again.” She chuckles at him.

“Then why did you ask?” Sanzo says still walking away from her.

“I just wanted to hear you say it,” The Merciful Goddess sighs, “And still after everything you feel for her you cannot admit it.” Sanzo turns looking at her.

“You want to hear me say it? Fine I am falling for her, I am falling for Nori and I want to save her I do not want her to die.” Sanzo says turning back around and walking away from her again.

“Then you’re taking her to the wrong person. Come with me.” She tells him. Sanzo stops turning back looking at his Aunt as she is walking toward the Inn. She turns slightly and motions for him to follow her. Sanzo follows her into the Inn and up to their floor as she walks into Laney and Nori’s room he still follows behind carrying Nori. The Merciful Goddess stops by Nori’s bedside as she draws her hand across the top of her bed,

“Lay her down and I will remove the bullets from her.” She tells him. Sanzo looks at her wondering what she is trying to prove she has never done such a thing for as long as he has known her.

“Do you want to save her or not Konzen? If you do then lay her on the bed and leave her to me,” Sanzo lays her on the bed and steps back. The Merciful Goddess looks at her and smiles at Nori.

“Your one lucky girl Nori and you must be one hell of a woman to turn Konzen’s head like you did and get in to his heart as well.” She said.

“Stop the idol chit chat and heal her!” Sanzo says coldly. She looks at Sanzo and reaches out to him with a closed hand, he looks at her and then her hand, she nods saying,

“Give me your hand Konzen.” He puts his hand out to her as she drops three bullets into his hand.

“Three… I only shot her twice where did the third come from?” Sanzo asks confused.

“The first time you shot her. She was not able to get the entire bullet out. That is why she could not heal like she needed to.” She tells Sanzo.

“No need to worry though she is bullet free now and her wounds partially healed. I did not want to heal her completely she needs her rest she has had it pretty bad since she has ran into you four boys.” She tells him.

“Listen…” Sanzo started as she raised her hand, “No need to say Thank you, those prudes up there are always helping someone they think is important I thought I would help someone in which I knew was important.” Sanzo looks at her still trying to figure out what she was trying to do.

“All right then if you want to help out. Why don’t you talk to her Grandfather and see if you can get him to withdraw the curse on them.” Sanzo tells her. She looks at Sanzo with and inquisitive look.

“You want me to talk to Yukihiko…” She starts to laugh Sanzo looks at her and sighs unbeknown to them Nori is waking while she is laughing at Sanzo’s statement.

“I cannot promise you anything Konzen; the old cot is as bad as the Jade Emperor he thinks everything he does is just and right.” She tells him.

‘Then you will do it?” Sanzo asks her.

“I will do my best for them.” She says as she starts to walk away toward the door.

She turns looking at Sanzo, “Oh, Konzen if it does not work I thought you might like to know that Yukihiko will be making his appearance at a temple in the village not far from here in a few days, they might be able to persuade him theirselves. You never know if he refuses Nori might even be able to kill him as strong as she is. After all she is not only a Goddess she is one of The Last Children…”

She turns to open the door as she tells him, “Oh and you have company.” She then vanishes into nothingness.

“Damn I hate when she does that.” Sanzo says into the silences of the room. Nori then calls out to Sanzo once she is gone and Laney, Hakkai, Gojyo and Goku walks in the door of their room.

“Sanzo…” Nori calls out to him again in a weak tone. Sanzo goes to her.

“Shhh… rest now we will talk later.” Sanzo tells her kneeling at her bedside.

“But who were you talking to?” Nori asks him. Sanzo touches her forehead and kisses her on the cheek.

“I was talking to myself Nori now rest.” Sanzo looks into Nori’s eyes as he sees her eyes are the blue he remembered when he first saw her in the lobby of the Inn he smiles at her saying.

“Rest now…” Nori closes her eyes and slowly drifts off to sleep as Sanzo kneels at her side holding her hand. Laney looks at Sanzo as they all sit down around the room.

“How is she?” Laney asks,

“She is fine she will recover quickly now. I think I found out why she was having such a hard time recovering from the first gunshot wound and having problems with the curse.” Sanzo tells Laney. Laney looks at him waiting for him to tell her what he found out.

Sanzo holds out his hand and opens it for them to see what he had in it. They all look at it shocked.

“Three… but you only shot her twice.” Laney exclaims.

“I shot her twice tonight.” Sanzo said.

“So you mean to tell me the other bullet was still in her?!” Laney exclaims.

“Part of the other bullet was still in her. When she took the bullet out herself she missed part of it.” Sanzo told her.

“So the doctor found it in her?” Laney asks him.

Sanzo looks at Laney not sure what to say then replies, “Well let’s just say an old acquaintance of mine helped Nori out tonight and removed the bullets.”

“An old acquaintance you say.” Hakkai replied. Sanzo looks at Hakkai for he knew that Hakkai knew who he was referring to. Sanzo gets to his feet looking back at Nori seeing she was sound asleep, he gets the bandages and starts to help Laney doctor every ones wounds.


As the night drifted in to morning Nori awoke looking around the room. She sees no one in the room but her and Laney. She swings her feet to the floor standing up from her bed she cringes and holds her stomach.

“Where do you think you are going?” Laney says to her.

Nori chuckles, “No where but your bedside I need to talk to you.” Nori tells her.

“It cannot wait till morning Nori?” Laney tells her.

“No we will not have the chance then Sanzo and the others will be around us every second.” Nori tells her as she sits on the edge of Laney’s bed.

“Are you complaining about that or just stating a fact?” Laney says as she moves over for her to sit down, Nori chuckles again.

“Stop making me laugh it hurts.” Nori tells her. “And I am only stating a fact.”

“Ok what is so all mighty important that it cannot wait till morning to talk to me?” Laney asks her.

“You will never guess who took care of me tonight.” Nori told Laney.

“Well Sanzo…” Laney started to say as Nori cut her off.

“Konzen…”

“Who is Konzen?” Laney asks.

“Konzen is Sanzo… I am taking that was his name when he was still in the heavens. The person that took care of me tonight was the Merciful Goddess.” Nori told Laney.

“WHAT!!” Laney exclaimed.

“Yes and she told Sanzo that our Grandfather was going to be making an appearance in a temple in a village not far from here in the next few days.” Laney sits up in her bed looking at Nori in shock.

“So what’s next Laney?” Nori asks her.
