Chapter 12


As the week went on the group finds themselves four days from Shiraishi’s birthday. Dark has went to Shiraishi’s side everyday talking to her telling her what they were doing and what was going on in the plans to free her from Krad and Zesiro. Dark hated giving her false hope and telling her lies about what was really going on, but did so in fear that Krad or Zesiro could hear him for they were the ones that held her soul.

It was Sunday as we find Dark sitting in his usual spot in Shiraishi’s room next to her bed. Dark touched Shiraishi’s cheek with his fingertips as a tear roll toward his fingertips he tells her, “Shiraishi please do not be sad and do not cry for me. We have looked everywhere for a spell to free you from your hell and the spell of Consequence is the only spell that is going to work.”

Another tear makes its way down her other cheek as Dark says, “Shiraishi my love please we will be together again soon I promise… One day our love will be whole again and together again forever.”

Dark hangs his head has his thoughts run through his head, “Damn you Krad… You will pay for the pain I have inflicted upon Shiraishi with these lies I have to tell her because of what you have done to her. I promise you, you will pay for this.”


While locked deep within Zesiro’s dark soul Shiraishi struggles with her chain’s that bind her to her prison as tears flow from her eyes as she cries from the thought of losing Dark with the plan he has devised. She tilts her head into the touch of Darks hand on her cheek, even thought he is not there with her it is like she can still feel his touch on her very soul, her tears still flow.

“Shira dear please do not cry my love.” Krad says walking from the darkness toward her.

Shiraishi pulls harder at her chains as her body jumps in her bed Dark lifts his head looking at her as he says aloud to Shiraishi, “Krad if you are there with her and you touch her I will kill you.”

Shiraishi still pulls at her chains as Krad steps closer to her he says, “He does love you so much I do not think I have ever seen Dark so love sick before.” Krad laughs as he adds, “It makes me sick to my stomach to see such foolishness.”

“You animal if anyone is sickened here it is me… Dark is going to sacrifice himself to the ring of Kao for my soul.” Shiraishi exclaims.

“Ahh yes… so I have heard this, but do not worry my dear I will not let Dark die for you. I need you right here with me… without you I cannot break the seal on the jewel and where would that leave me then.” Krad says as he reaches out touching her cheek wiping away her tears with his thumb he says, “All these tears wasted on a fool and for what my love? If Dark really loved you he would have never let this happen to you my dear.”

Shiraishi jerks her head back from him as she tells him in a hateful tone, “Do not call me dear and I am far from ever being your love.”

Krad reaches out to Shiraishi again as he caresses her cheek with the back of his fingers he says, “You say that now Shira, but in time you will see that you and I were meant to be together.” Krad’s hand was still moving across her cheek as he moves them down her neck and chest.

Shiraishi struggles to get away from him as he chuckles his devilish laugh. Krad steps closer to her as Shiraishi can feel his hot breath on her neck and cheek she feels the tip of Krad’s nose caress her cheek as she hears him whisper into her ear, “With your powers you and I will rule the world… I will be a King… No I will be a God and you my love will be my Goddess.” Shiraishi can feel Krad’s lips press against her neck as more tears make their way down her cheeks.

She hears him continue in saying, “Dark will never have you… not now… not ever…”

Krad slides his arm around Shiraishi’s waist jerking her closer to him, Shiraishi still looking away from Krad as her tears flow she hears Krad say, “You are mine now Shira… you may as well get use to it. We need one another we are birds of a feather or at least here very soon we will be.”

Shiraishi turns slowly looking dead into Krad’s eyes as she says in a hateful tone, “You can believe what you wish Krad for as long as I am in these chains of segregation you may hold my soul, but when in all reality you know you will never hold my heart… it will forever belong to Dark. I will never obey you and I will never love you. I will kill myself first before I will let that ever happen. I despise and loath you and I will not let you win… NEVER will I let you win!”

Krad became angered with Shiraishi’s statement as he grabs her by her chin and kisses her Shiraishi fights to become free.

When she finally becomes free of his hold Shiraishi screams at Krad, “I WILL KILL YOU!!”

Dark becoming startled by this out burst of the lifeless Shiraishi lying in her bed. Dark grabs her arms pulling her close to him he holds her in his arms as a tear makes its way down his cheek he whispers in to her ear, “Fight him Shiraishi… Do not let him win over you…” Dark holds Shiraishi tighter.

Shiraishi gasps for air as she can feel and hear Dark like he is right in front of her holding her tight, she closes her eyes and weeps as her body goes limp she cries out, “Dark… I love you…”

Krad releases Shiraishi in anger, he storms from where she was being held as he calls out to Zesiro, “I am taking over… Theirs someone I need to pay a visit to.”


Moments later Krad appears on Shiraishi’s balcony he storms into Shiraishi’s room seeing Dark still holding Shiraishi in his arms, Dark turns quickly looking at Krad as Krad tells Dark, “She belongs to me Dark and I am taking her body with me. Give her to me!!” Krad orders.

Dark gently lays Shiraishi back down on the bed. Just then, Nakamura walks into the room Dark turns quickly looking at him as he tells Nakamura, “Get your sisters body out of here and somewhere safe… NOW!!”

Dark charges Krad knocking him out the balcony doors and away from Shiraishi’s body. Nakamura runs grabbing his sister and taking her from the room to keep her safe from Krad, taking Shiraishi down the hall to his room locking the door behind him.

Dark stands erect looking out at Krad he tells him, “If you think I will give you Shiraishi’s body so easily you need to go home and rethink some things. You having her soul is too much in my eyes and soon enough you will not even have that.”

Krad stands locking eyes with Dark he laughs saying, “You’re a fool Dark… Shira will soon have powers that will and can take over the world and all you can think about is how you can free her from me.”

“I do not care about Shiraishi’s powers and what she can or cannot do. The only thing I care about is getting her back home with her family and back with me.” Dark tell Krad.

“Yes so I have heard so many times it is making me sick to my stomach… Your love… Her love… How her heart only belongs to you and always will… Well I am sick of all of it. Soon just before Shira’s 18th I will cast a spell I have in waiting for her putting her into eternal darkness. Then on the dawn of her 18th she and I will unlock the jewel… With your sweet Shiraishi’s heart cast into darkness, it will be as black as mine. Then I will not have to fight her for what I want from her, she will come to me lovingly welcoming me into her arms.” Dark’s eyes widen as he listens to Krad.

Krad laughs an evil laugh throwing back his head he says, “I can see it now with Shira by my side no one will stop me. She will forever do my bidding, with her powers and blackened heart we will make the perfect couple.” Krad looks at Dark he smiles his evil smile as he adds, “And then she will love ONLY me.”

Dark becomes angered as he charges Krad yelling out, “SHIRAISHI WILL NEVER LOVE YOU!!”

Krad jumps going into flight as Dark takes off after him. Krad and Dark fly off into the sky as they battle it out for Shiraishi.

Not long after, Nakamura runs back into the room calling out for Dark, “Dark are you in here…” Nakamura walks out onto the balcony looking around as he sees black and white feathers scattered across the balcony floor Nakamura looks out over the sea into the early evening sky as he says, “Come back safely Dark sister needs you.”


Hours later after sunset the two boys and their Grandfathers Daiki and Hara are sitting in Shiraishi’s room wondering where Dark could be and praying that he is still alive and well.

Afton gets to his feet as he exclaims, “I cannot take it any longer I am going out to find Dark. He has to be out there somewhere and hurt, for him not to be back here by now.”

“Afton…” Daiki says getting his attention. “Dark will be fine he will be back here when he has finished with what ever is going on. Leaving out of here to look for him would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack.”

“But Grandpa what if Dark is hurt…” Afton pauses as he hangs his head he adds, “or worse…”

Daiki gets to his feet walking toward him as they all hear something fall against the balcony doors. They turn looking out the door as they see Dark laying against it. Afton runs toward the doors opening them as Dark fell into the room Dark was beaten, bruised, and bloody from his fight with Krad. Hara picks Dark up from the floor as Dark moans in pain from his touch. Hara sits Dark down in a chair next to Shiraishi’s bed.

“Dark… Dark can you hear me.” Afton calls to him.

Dark cringes as he looks at Afton he smiles, “Sure I am… This is nothing you should see Krad.” Dark slightly chuckles as a cringe shortly follows it.

“You idiot… Krad could have killed you… Then where would that have left us.” Afton exclaims.

Dark become angered at the tone in Afton’s voice as he pushes himself up in the chair he says, “Well he didn’t Afton why don’t you have a little more faith.”

“Well look at you Dark you’re a mess!!” Afton exclaims again. “What if Krad comes for Shiraishi again tonight?”

Dark looks at Afton with narrowed eyes as he barks, “Well he won’t so do not worry about it. Did you not hear me say Krad was worse off then me?”

Afton steps back from Dark as he turns going to leave the room he says, “Your being foolish Dark. You are the only one that can save Shiraishi and you go and do something stupid like this… Krad could have killed you.”

Dark gets to his feet as he quickly moves toward Afton he cringes has he grabs Afton’s arm spinning him around to look at him Dark tells him, “Foolish you say Afton… Do you know why Krad wanted Shiraishi’s body? No you do not… So do not tell me I was foolish in my actions… If I would not have chased Krad away from here and he would have taken her we would never have been able to save her… So do not stand there and pass judgment upon me for what I did.” Dark cringes again going down on his knees holding his left arm.

Afton follows him grabbing Dark’s shoulders he exclaims, “I am sorry Dark I was just so worried about you and what might have happened. You need rest Dark you have to get better we only have two days until we free Shiraishi.”

“Yes I know this…” Dark says through gritted teeth. Afton helps Dark up from the floor sitting him on the bed at Shiraishi’s side.

“We need to get him home.” Daiki says.

“NO…” Dark exclaims. “I am not leaving Shiraishi’s side!”

“But you need to rest son.” Hara tells him.

“I will… Right here next to Shiraishi. I will sleep on the floor next to her bed, but I am not leaving her here alone. Like I said if Krad gets a hold of her body we will never save her from his grasps.” Dark says. They all stand there staring at Dark as he is still holding his left arm.

“Alright then, have it your way Dark, but we need to get those wounds tended to or you will never heal.” Hara tells him.

“Fine do what you need to do, but I am not leaving this room without Shiraishi.” Dark says.

Hara sends Nakamura after the first aid kit, when he returns with it he walks in on Dark telling the others why Krad wanted Shiraishi’s body.

“Krad wants to make my sister evil like him?” Nakamura asks hanging his head.

Dark and the others look over at Nakamura as Hara walks toward him he says, “Nakamura do not worry about your sister Dark will keep her safe so Krad cannot do that to her.”

Nakamura feels his Grandfather touch his shoulder as he looks up a tear falls from his eye he says, “I hate Krad for what he is doing to Shira… I HATE HIM!!” Nakamura exclaims as he drops the first aid kit and runs from the room.

“NAKAMURA!!” Afton yells after him.

“Let him be Afton… He will be fine he is just upset over this… He wants his sister back so badly. I never really knew how close they were until this happen to Shira.” Hara says.

Daiki smiles as he says, “But that is a good thing. You will always know they will be there to care for one another.”

Hara smiles as he nods picking up the first aid kit and walking toward Dark with it. Daiki doctors up Dark’s wounds as they talk some more about what Krad and Zesiro’s plans are with Shiraishi. Once they were finished talking and caring for Dark, Hara went and got blankets and pillows for Dark to sleep on. They all said their good nights and went their separate ways for the rest of the evening.


Later that night Dark is in the floor tossing and turning not comfortable at all from his wounds. He slowly gets up from his bed and walks out on the balcony looking up at the moon and the star filled sky. A tear finds its way down his cheek as his mind drifts back to the times Shiraishi and he spent standing on the balcony looking out at the night sky together.

Dark closes his eyes as his mind drifts off to the first time Shiraishi told him she loved him. He remembered it like it was yesterday as he hears Shiraishi’s voice ring in his mind as she looked into his eyes and told him,

“I love you Dark…Always and forever, I will love you.”

He remembered holding her close to him in his arms feeling her heartbeat as it beat in time with his. He could feel her silky golden hair as it brushed against his skin as a gentle breeze blew through it and he remembered looking into her deep blue eyes that sparkled like a star in the night sky. Dark closed his eyes tighter and crossed his arms over his chest as he gripped his arms in his hands he could feel his heart race and his anger flare toward Krad for what he has done to them. He began to weep as he called out to Shiraishi in a low whisper,

“I Love you Shiraishi and I promise you, you will be with me again very soon.”

While Dark stood there with his eyes closed, he heard Shiraishi’s voice speak to him.

“Dark…” She says in a sweet tone.

Dark opened his eyes looking around for her as he hears her again, “Close your eyes my love and you will see me.” Dark slowly closes his eyes as Shiraishi’s image becomes clear to him.

Shiraishi stood in front of him smiling reaching out to him; Dark reaches out taking her hand and pulling her close to him. They stand there wrapped in one another’s arms holding each other close as Shiraishi laid her head on Dark’s chest hearing his heartbeat.

“Shiraishi I have missed you so much.” Dark whispers to her caressing her hair.

“And I have you Dark.” Shiraishi whispers back to him as she pulls away from his hold she looks up at him as she says, “I do not have long… What powers I do have are still very weak. So I want you to listen to me.”

Dark looks deep into her eyes as she continues in saying, “I do not want to lose you Dark and I know you do not want to lose me, but if Krad stops you from your plans I want you to destroy the jewel and I want you to kill Krad or…”

Dark cuts Shiraishi off as he exclaims, “But that will kill you as well Shiraishi!!”

“Yes I know this, but you cannot let Krad have control of the jewel. More will die if you do not stop him Dark.” Shiraishi tells him.

“But I do not think I can kill Krad knowing he holds your soul inside of him. If I destroy the jewel, it will stop Krad and then there will be no need to kill him. Then Krad will have no need for you.” Dark tells her.

“Then Krad will kill me… You have to stop Krad at all cost Dark even if it means my life. Kill Krad and then destroy the jewel it is the only way.” Shiraishi says.

Dark pulls Shiraishi closer to him as he holds her tight he says, “I cannot do it Shiraishi. I cannot kill Krad… I cannot kill you.”

Shiraishi wraps her arms around Dark holding him tight as she says, “You will have to Dark. You will have to find it in you to kill Krad and not worry about me I will be fine. I will live on inside of you; our love for one another will never die.” Shiraishi tells him.

Just then, Dark feels Shiraishi start to fade from his arms as he calls out, “No… Not yet Shiraishi just a little longer please do not go yet.”

Dark reaches out to Shiraishi as she is backing away from him he watches her image fade as she tells him, “Do not let Krad win Dark. Kill him to save me… kill Krad and destroy the jewel… too save mankind… It is the only way Dark…”

Shiraishi’s image and words fade into the darkness as Dark falls to his knees weeping into his hands he whispers, “I cannot do it Shiraishi… I cannot do it and I will not do it…”

Dark looks up into the night sky as he cries out into the darkness, “I WILL SAVE YOU SHIRAISHI… I WILL SAVE YOU!!”

Dark hears Shiraishi soft voice fall upon his ears as she says, “I love you Dark… Always and forever, I will love you.”

Dark stands as he turns looking out at the night sky he sees Shiraishi’s image fading into the stars, she smiles down on him as he sees a single tear fall from her cheek turning into a falling star from the heavens. Dark reaches out to Shiraishi as he closes his eyes and wishes upon the falling star.

Dark opens his eyes looking out at the stars he whispers, “I love you Shiraishi… Always and forever, I will love you.”
