Chapter 6


The next morning Shiraishi awakens in her bed she stretches out looking up at the ceiling, she quickly pushes herself up in bed, as she exclaims.

“Dark?!” She puts her fingertips over her lips and chuckles slightly. “Did we kiss last night or was it just in my dream… but then how did I get in my bed last night?” Shiraishi smiles and gets to her feet she stretches again welcoming the morning.

When all of a sudden, Nakamura burst into her room grabbing her hand dragging her out of her room as he was yelling about something that happen as he walks into his room with her in tow, “Nakamura what are you doing I have to get ready for school I do not have time for this craziness.”

Nakamura places his hands on her shoulders and turns her to look at the T.V, as a news flash came across the screen, flashing a picture of Dark.

‘Phantom Dark breaks into City Museum last night taking the Jewel of Arthur, City in panic wondering what Phantom Dark has in store with the legendary jewel.’ Shiraishi stands there in shock, as she cannot take her eyes from the screen of the T.V.

“That’s the guy you have been talking to at school Shiraishi.” Nakamura says. Shiraishi is still starring at the T.V when their Father walks into the room.

“I think you two should stay home today.” Their Father told them.

Shiraishi turns giving a stern look at him saying, “No… I will not stay home from school, not today nor any day will I stay home because of something like this.”

“Shiraishi we have hid our family history well, but there are still records out there that tell of the family and who…” Her Father pauses looking at her, “And who you are. You will be safer here then out on the streets.”

“I do not care Father if this Phantom Dark knows who I am then it does not matter where I am he will come for me and I will not make myself a prisoner because of this.” Shiraishi exclaims.

“Shira, Father is right maybe we should stay home today. I mean if this guy does know that you are the tamer of the Jewel then that puts you in danger.” Nakamura says.

“If he does it would not matter, because I can do nothing with the Jewel until my 18th Birthday. So he will be very disappointed when he kidnaps me and takes me to the Jewel and I cannot get it to do what he wants.” Shiraishi says upset.

“But Shira…” Nakamura says with a look of shame on his face.

Shiraishi sees this walking over to him; she places her hand on his shoulder, “What is wrong Nakamura?” She asks him looking into his eyes.

“I kind of… well I… I told the kids at school that we were descendents of King Arthur’s.” Nakamura says as he hangs his head.

“YOU WHAT!!” His father bellowed.

“Nakamura is this the only people you have told this to?” Shiraishi asks him.

“Yes but Shira you know that Da…” Shiraishi cuts Nakamura off as she says, “It does not matter they are kids, not Phantom Dark.” Shiraishi says as she starts to walk from the room. Her Father stops her by grabbing her arm lightly as she walked pasted him.

“You will stay home today from school do you understand me young lady.” He tells her.

“What does it matter Father if he knows who I am he will come here for me as well and if he does not know who I am then me staying home will only prove to him that I am the person he is seeking. How do you know that he is not watching the people of this village and seeing who stays hidden and who will come show themselves? I will not hide from my fate, you forget I control the jewel the jewel does not control the tamer.” Shiraishi says.

Her Father jerks her around to face him saying, “And you have forgotten that that is how your Grandmother lost her life.”

Shiraishi looks into her Fathers eyes, “How can I forget Father you took our family heritage away from us when that happen, something that we should be proud of and you killed it… hiding it from anyone and everyone.” Shiraishi jerks away from her Father as she starts back to her room, “Even us…” Shiraishi walks into her room as her Father follows her as she closes the door in his face she tells him, “I will not stay home and you will not make me.”

Her Father leaves the hall going down the stairs to his office. He sees Nakamura standing outside Shiraishi’s door talking to her when he returns.

“Shira come on Father is right… lets stay home… just today I think it would be safer for you, because if someone does know we are descendents of King Arthur’s oldest daughter you will not be safe and only the kids at school know it is a girl that holds the spell for the Jewel.”

Their Father moves Nakamura out of the way taking a key and placing it in the door locking Shiraishi into her room. Shiraishi hears the key in the door and runs to it trying to hurry and turn the handle before he got it locked, but it was of no use her Father had the door locked and Shiraishi locked behind it.

She starts to pound on the door screaming at her Father, “This is not fair Father you just gift wrapped me for Dark. Dark knows where I am and if he knows and wants me, he will come here to get me. Please unlock the door and let me out Father.”

A tear rolls down Shiraishi’s cheek as she hears her Father say walking away from the door, “You would say anything to get me to open that door. I think I would know if Phantom Dark had been to our home. My art work would be stolen, do not play me as a fool Shiraishi.”

“FATHER PLEASE!!” Shiraishi yelled out to him as she slides down the door crying.


Later that morning Afton walks into the schoolyard with his head hanging, “Come on Afton I am upset about this too but we cannot let it get us down, we will get the Jewel back from Krad.” Dark tells him.

“But what about Shiraishi if she is the tamer of the…” Afton was saying as Dark interrupted.

“We do not know that for sure Afton so we cannot just assume that Shiraishi is the tamer of the jewel. That is something I am hoping to find out today at lunch. I just hope she will trust me enough to tell me after the news this morning. It did not make me out to be such a great guy and what about that picture, they did not even get my good side.” Dark says chucking.

“Dark this is not a time to be making jokes!” Afton tells him.

“Somebody has to because you sure are not going to.” Dark tells him.

“I am just worried is all.” Afton says.

“So am I Afton and I promise we will get the jewel back.” Dark says. Just then, Afton hears Sanyu call out to him.

“Hey Afton, what’s up your mom told me this morning that you were not doing to well. So I did not think you would be here today.” Sanyu tells him.

“No I am feeling better now.” Afton says.

“Well you do not look better you still look under the weather.” Sanyu tells him.

“Well I am, so do not worry about me.” Afton says as they start into the school building.

When they enter into the classroom Afton looks around for Nakamura, he walks over to his desk and takes a seat. The bell rings as the other kids walk in the teacher right behind them, but Afton does not see Nakamura anywhere.

“Hey Sakura have you seen Nakamura yet today?” Afton whispers back to her.

“No I have not, why do you ask Afton?” Sakura asks.

“Oh no reason I was just wondering, he is usually here by now.” Afton says.

“Well maybe he caught what you had, but it got him worse.” Sanyu says.

Afton gives Sanyu a confused look saying, “Maybe… I guess I will find out from his sister today when I see her.”

They nod at Afton as the teacher says, “Good morning class.”


The morning drifted on slowly for Afton and Dark. To them it felt like midday would never reach them. While between classes Afton walked from the bathroom seeing Zesiro walking from the office with a pass in his hand.

“Where is he going?” Afton says at a soft whisper.

“Who is that Afton?” Dark replies.

“Zesiro he has a pass from the office.” Afton says.

“Yeah so…” Dark says.

“That means he is leaving school grounds Dark.” Afton tells him.

“Yeah well maybe he has to go see the doctor today or something.” Dark tells him.

“Zesiro?!” Afton exclaims as he starts walking to his next class.

“What is up with you Afton?!” Dark replies.

“Sorry I guess I am just a little paranoid.” Afton says.

“About Zesiro?! Dark exclaims.

“Well we do not know who Krad’s tamer is Dark.” Afton says.

“ZESIRO!! You think it might be Zesiro?” Dark says.

“Well he was asking a lot of questions when Nakamura was telling the story of his family history.” Afton says.

Dark got quiet as Afton walks into his classroom taking a seat at his desk Afton says, “Well Dark you cannot count him out and he does act a little strange sometimes and what about the things he knows about me?” Afton says.

“UMM… You might have a good hunch on this one Afton.” Dark tells him. Just then the bell rings for class to start.


Meanwhile back at Shiraishi’s home we find Shiraishi walking out onto her balcony tears still in her eyes as she cries from this morning’s event. She stops at the railing looking down onto the Ocean and the rocks below as she remembers Dark saving her from her fall just a few nights before.

“Why did I not see it…? Why did I fall into his trap his sweet talk and soft eyes? He had me right where he wanted me. He told me that he was falling in love with me and I was a fool and I was falling in love with him.” Shiraishi said starting to get mad at herself for her foolishness and falling right into Dark’s hands.

She slammed the flat of her hand down on the railing that was in front of her as she spun around to walk back into her room she said, “How could I let him steal my heart what kind o…”

Shiraishi pauses as she saw a tall blonde boy standing behind her when she fully turned around. He to had wings as they were pulled up behind him his wings were of white and shimmered in the sun light, his eyes shined a golden yellow with a soft and gentle smile; he was dressed in all white as his coat was trimmed in a golden color making his eyes stand out to her even more. To her he slightly resembled Dark she looked deeper into his eyes as she started to back away from him.

“Who… Who are you?” Shiraishi asks him as she bumped into the railing startling her. He continues to smile at her as he takes a step toward her.

“Stay away or I will scream.” Shiraishi tells him.

“I won’t hurt you.” He says to her in a calm voice.

“Who are you?” Shiraishi asks him again. He gives a slight chuckle as he walks toward her reaching out to her with his hand.

“I am Krad.” He tells her.

“Krad… Krad who… and… and what are you doing here? If you are here because of…” Shiraishi says to him when he interrupted her.

“Because of Dark?” Krad starts to laugh as he smiles. “Dark is a fool, he was born a fool he will die a fool.” He says still laughing. “I heard you talking about Dark while I was standing behind you. He has quite the way with the ladies and he has been known to trick them into what ever he wants them to believe.”

Shiraishi stands there looking at Krad and his hand that he has offered her.

“Come on take it… I promise you I am nothing like Dark I am completely the opposite of him.” Krad tells her. Shiraishi reaches out to him and then pulls back from him Krad tilts his head reaching out farther to her. Shiraishi reaches out to him again taking Krad’s hand as he smiles at her, he leads her to one of the chairs that she has on her balcony and offered it to her pulling it out for her to sit.

Krad lets out a slight chuckle as she stares at him, “Would you feel more comfortable if I did not have my wings where you could see them.”

Shiraishi quickly looks away from Krad saying, “I am sorry I did not mean to stare, I am being rude.”

“Nonsense I understand how they could make you uncomfortable.” Krad says to her. Shiraishi looks back at Krad seeing that he no longer had his wings.

She smiles at him as he smiles back, “Now is that better?” Krad asks her.

She nods still smiling, “Yes Thank you it does help.”

“Good I am glad.” Krad says sitting down across from her. Shiraishi looks at him as her mind runs wild with thoughts when Krad says to her.

“So you wanted to know who I am, how about I tell you.” Shiraishi nods as she sets her hands into her lap and gives Krad her full attention.

“Well… I told you my name is Krad, and yes, I do know Dark… All to well. I am Dark’s other half.” Krad tells her.

Shiraishi looks at him confused and asks him, “So where Dark is the bad side you are the good side?”

“Yes exactly, Dark has been a very bad boy these last few days and when he stole the Jewel of Arthur last night I knew I needed to step in. His thoughts and ideas are endangering people’s lives and your life as well Miss Shiraishi.” Krad tells her.

“So if you are Dark’s other side then does he know you are here with me now?” Shiraishi asks him.

“No, Dark does not know what I do or where I am. We are the same, but separate I am my own person just like Dark is his own person.” Krad tells her.

“So there is no inner battle going on here with you two.” Shiraishi asks him.

Krad laughs saying, “Oh there is a battle between us, but not like that.”

Shiraishi chuckles slightly as she looks into Krad’s eyes, “You do not trust me, do you?” Krad asks her.

“I am sorry Krad, but after what Dark has told me and what he has done I am having a hard time with trusting you after you told me you are part of him.” Shiraishi replies.

“I understand I only wanted to come by here and warn you that Dark will be looking for you very soon and to tell you to stay away from him until I have the Jewel of Arthur safe with me.” Krad tells her.

“But he cannot…” Shiraishi stops herself as a silence falls between them.

“He cannot what Shiraishi?” Krad asks her reaching out and taking her hand into his to comfort her.

Shiraishi looks deep into Krad’s eyes as he says, “You can trust me… what ever you tell me will be safe with me, Dark or no one else will ever find out.”

Shiraishi looks at Krad feeling that she can trust him but is still afraid, “If I tell you this you will be the only one out of our family that will ever know this… SO PLEASE YOU CANNOT TELL ANYONE.” Shiraishi begs of him.

“You have my word as a gentlemen and your friend.” Krad tells her looking into her eyes trying to win over her trust. Shiraishi smiles as she starts to tell him about the Jewel and why Dark will not be able to use it.

“Dark is at a lost with the Jewel right now.” Shiraishi says Krad gets a strange look on his face has he asks her, “Why is that Miss Shiraishi?”

“The Jewel is sealed with a curse that will never break and the seal will not break even with me there.” Shiraishi says.

Krad’s eyes start to narrow as if he was getting mad. Krad held back his anger as he asks Shiraishi, “Why is that?”

Shiraishi was confused and was starting to doubt if she should be telling Krad this, “Are you alright Miss Shiraishi?” Krad says as he gives her hand a slight squeeze to reassure her.

“The Jewel’s tamer cannot seal the jewel until their 18th birthday. That is when the tamer gets the true power to seal the jewel.” Shiraishi tells him. “The one Dark seeks to break the curse and seal the jewel has passed on.”

“So the jewel is worthless until you turn 18?” Krad asks her.

“Yes the jewel is of no good to him right now, he will not be able to break the curse and seal the jewel for another 3 months, well 2 months, and a week.” Shiraishi says chuckling, “That should give you plenty of time to stop him.”

Krad lets go of her hand and gets up from his seat as he walks away from her. As Krad hears, Zesiro speak to him.

“Now what Krad we have 2 months before we can use her. Father will not be pleased.” Zesiro says.

“It is only 2 months Zesiro. That will give me more time to turn her on Dark and win her over. You heard what she was saying about Dark.” Krad replies.

Zesiro starts to laugh saying, “Yes Dark was falling in love with her trying to get her to fall in love with him. She could work to our advantage in bringing Dark down.”

“Yes not only will she help us take over, she will also help us get rid of Dark.” Krad says as an evil smile comes across his face.

“But can YOU handle being around her until she turns 18, Krad? You are not really that much of a people person?” Zesiro asks him.

Krad turns around smiling at Shiraishi as she sat in her chair looking at him wondering what he was thinking.

Krad’s smile grows bigger as he tells Zesiro, “She is not like the others, something about her is different. I think I will do just fine with her.”

Krad walks back over to Shiraishi kneeling in front of her he takes her hand into his and tells her, “Well Dark does not know this and that will work to our advantage with the jewel and getting it back and stopping him. So now all we have to do is keep you away from Dark until I have done this.” Krad tells her.

“Does Dark know I am the tamer for sure?” Shiraishi asked him.

“No, Dark does not know he only has an idea that you are the tamer of the Jewel. So maybe it would be a good idea that you stay clear of him for a while.” Krad tells her.

“But like I told my Father if I stay hiding and away from Dark would that not only prove to him I am the one he seeks?” Shiraishi asks him.

Krad looks away from her as he stands stepping back from her, Krad hears Zesiro says, “She has got a point there Krad and if we do not want Dark knowing we are trying to win her over maybe we should let her be around him.”

“Your right.” Krad replies.

Shiraishi looks at Krad, “What Krad?”

“Your right you should keep seeing Dark. Do not let him know that we spoke; if you do he will try to turn you against me. Let him know nothing about the Jewel or yourself lead him on to believe what ever you like and then when the time comes I will take care of Dark.” Krad tells her stepping back toward her. Krad reaches into his jacket as he pulls out the Ring of Kao, Shiraishi’s eyes widen as she looks upon it.

“Here I want you to wear this for me.” Krad tells her as he reaches for her hand.

“Why Krad?” Shiraishi asks him.

“It will let me know if you are in trouble and I can come to your aid then. If Dark ever tries to harm you just close your eyes and think of me and I will be by your side and I will know where you are if he takes you somewhere.” Krad tells her.

Shiraishi raises her hand to Krad as he takes her hand into his, Krad closes his eyes and started to recite a spell for the ring as he placed it on her finger.
