Chapter 7


Once Krad finished the spell for the ring he led Shiraishi into her room by her hand. He turned around looking at her; as their eyes met Shiraishi started feeling a warm feeling wash over her as she looked into Krad’s eyes.

“Be careful around Dark my dear.” Krad touched her cheek brushing his thumb across it, “And remember if you ever need me all you have to do is close your eyes and think about me.” Krad tells her.

He pulls his hand from her cheek and walks away from her toward the door to leave. Shiraishi turns watching Krad walk across the room to the door, he turns looking back at her, she smiles at him as he smiles back.

Krad turns again walking to the railing of the balcony he jumps up on the railing as Shiraishi runs to the door, “Krad when will I see you again?” Shiraishi calls out to him.

“When ever you like…” Krad tells her stepping off the balcony, Shiraishi’s heart skipped a beat as she watched him fall below the railing, then soar off into the blue sky as he called back to her, “All you have to do is close your eyes and think about me and I will come to you where ever you are.” He turns in flight and blows her a kiss turning back and flying away. Shiraishi watched him until she could see him no more.

“Ok Krad I think you took that a little far for the first time of meeting her.” Zesiro says.

Krad laughs at him as he tells him, “Like you know anything about romance and women Zesiro.”

“What does that matter Krad? You blew her a kiss… come on what are you trying to do swoon her like Dark does his women?” Zesiro replies.

Krad becomes upset as Zesiro can hear it in his tone, “I will take care of Shiraishi’s I do not need advice from you. So when I am with her you just disappear and leave us be.” Krad tells him.

“Krad?” Zesiro says.

“What is it now Zesiro?” Krad asks him.

“She got to you didn’t she?” Zesiro says.

“Do not be foolish Zesiro I am only interested in her for her power to wield the jewel.” Krad tells him. “That is good… and I saw the ring was already taking effect on her as soon as you placed the spell upon it.” Zesiro tells him.

“Of course it did and I have to play along with her to truly win her over, if she sees me waver in any way the spell will break and we will have lost her.” Krad says.

“So the blowing of the kiss and caressing of her cheek was all part of the plan to win her over?” Zesiro asks him.

“Of course so do not worry about where my mind is. It is right were it belongs… still in total darkness.” Krad says as he starts to laugh an evil laugh Zesiro laughing with him as they fly back to the school.


Later back at the school Dark walks out into the schoolyard looking for Shiraishi. He looks everywhere that he thought he might be able to find her. Dark stops leaning against a tree out in front of the school as he sighs.

“Do you think she may have stayed home today as well?” Afton asks.

“I am thinking that Afton.” Dark says.

“So why don’t we go to her place to see her Dark?” Afton says.

“Really Afton you would let me go to her place and see her?” Dark asks him.

“Sure we still have some time as long as we are back here in time for my next class.” Afton replies.

“I will have you back here in plenty of time for your next class.” Dark tells him as he runs off to find a place so they could get out of there without being seen.

Not to long after Dark lands on Shiraishi’s balcony seeing her sitting in the floor with her cat as she wiggles a string for him to play with. Dark walks to the door and leans on the doorframe as he spoke to her, “Hello I was wondering where you were today? Are you not feeling well?” Dark asks her as Shiraishi jumps to his voice.

Dark walks quickly into her room placing his hand on her shoulder saying, “I am so sorry I did not mean to scare you Shiraishi.”

Shiraishi looks at Dark her eyes looked empty to him and the blue of her eyes not so blue. “Shiraishi are you alright?” Dark asks in a worried tone. Shiraishi looked at Dark as if she did not know him, as she looked away from him getting up from the floor.

“Yes Dark I am fine thank you for asking.” Shiraishi tells him.

“Are you sure you are alright you are not acting alright.” Dark says.

“Yes Dark I am fine.” Shiraishi tells him as she turns smiling at him moving the hair from her face.

“What is wrong with her Dark? This is not Shiraishi.” Afton says.

“I know Afton but I do not know what is wrong with her.” Dark says.

“Do you think it could be because Krad had the Jewel and he is doing something with it?” Afton says.

“I am not sure Afton!!” Dark says to him starting to become upset.

Dark watched Shiraishi walk out to the balcony as if she was in a dream world. He soon walks out to where Shiraishi was standing. He placed his hands on Shiraishi’s hips and pulls her back toward him pulling her close to him until he could feel the warmth of her back against his chest. Dark wraps his arms around her waist pulling her closer to him as he whispers into her ear.

“Are you upset with me Shiraishi?” Dark asks her. Shiraishi does not turn to look at him as she looks off into the after sky.

“No Dark why would I be upset with you?” Shiraishi asks him. Dark pulls away from her slightly as he turns her.

“You heard what happen last night on this morning’s news and I know that the Jewel belongs to your family. I thought you might be upset about me taking it.” Dark tells her.

“Why would I be upset about that Dark? It is only a silly jewel.” Shiraishi tells him.

“What is with her Dark?!” Afton yells.

Dark was at a loss with what could be wrong with Shiraishi when he grabs her pulling her to him, he looks her in the eyes and says to her, “I hope this works.” Dark kisses Shiraishi with a deep long passionate kiss as he wraps his arms around her pulling her closer and closer to him until it felt like they were one. Dark did not stop until he felt Shiraishi fighting him to become free of his hold. Dark finally released her as she stepped back from him.

“What are you doing Dark?!” Shiraishi yells at him.

“You were acting strange when we got here. I was worried about you nothing I was trying was snapping you out of it. So I thought if I kissed you, you might come around to me and I was right it worked.” Dark tells her.

“What do you mean I was acting strange?” Shiraishi asks him.

“That’s what I said you were not yourself.” Dark told her again. Shiraishi draws her hand to her head as she turns walking away from Dark she could not remember the events of the day all she remembered was what happen between her and her Father. Dark sighed as he sat back on the railing on the balcony.

All of a sudden, Shiraishi spins around with a look of surprise on her face. Dark jumps to his feet, “Shiraishi are you alright?!” he says as he rushes toward her.

“STAY AWAY FROM ME!!” Shiraishi says, stepping back from him.

“What is wrong now?!” Dark exclaims.

“You took the jewel from the museum last night. I do not know what you think you can do with it, but I will not help you Dark.” Shiraishi tells him.

“Yes I did…” Dark says.

Afton cut him off, “She thinks you are here for her Dark.”

“NO… NO I am NOT here for her!!” Dark exclaims. “I had to take the jewel the sealing curse was becoming weak around it and it needed to be resealed, you know that. I would never harm her, I love Shiraishi.”

“Dark stop it… Dark you’re talking to me aloud and she is watching you.” Afton exclaims to him.

Shiraishi looks at Dark confused as she asks him, “Who are you talking to Dark?”

Dark still upset about Shiraishi thinking he would ever hurt her blurted out, “I am talking to Afton. He said that you think I am here for you.”

“Well aren’t you Dark?” Shiraishi asks him. Dark walks toward Shiraishi touching her arms.

He looks her in the eyes saying, “Shiraishi I love you and I would never harm you never I took the jewel because the sealing curse around it was becoming weak.” Dark says.

“The sealing curse will never weaken around the jewel Dark.” Shiraishi tells him.

“Then why did the jewel have you under such a trance when we were at the Museum the other day.” Dark asks her.

“You were at the museum with us?” Shiraishi asks him confused.

“Yes I was there I go were ever Afton goes.” Dark tells her.

“UMM, Dark a little too much information here.” Afton says to him.

“What are you saying Dark, are you telling me you and Afton are the same person?” Shiraishi asks him.

“No Afton and I are not…” Dark stops his self-looking at Shiraishi her face with the look of shock all over it.

“Dark?” Shiraishi says to him. Dark slides his hands down to Shiraishi’s hands as he takes them into his.

He looks deep into her eyes as he says, “Shiraishi there is a lot I need to tell you about me and I promise I will tell you, but you have to believe me when I tell you I am not here for you because of the jewel and I would never harm you never.” Dark tells her.

Shiraishi looks the other way as a tear rolls down her cheek Dark sees this tear as he places his hand to her cheek turning her back to look at him, “Please Shiraishi tell me you believe me, I need to hear this from you.”

“Dark I do not know what to believe right now. I have all this stuff running through my mind and I am just so confused right now.” Shiraishi tightens her hands around Darks as they hold hands.

“Dark…” Shiraishi says as she hangs her head. She looks back up at Dark as he is looking down at her trying to see her eyes. “Dark I think I am falling in love with you I know it has only been a few days that we have known one another and I know that you said you were falling in love with me to, but I cannot stop these feelings I am having for you. I do not know what is happening here and I want to believe you… my heart tells me that you are telling me the truth, but my mind is telling me something different and I do not know what to do.” Another tear makes its way down Shiraishi’s cheek as Dark takes her in his arms holding her close.

“A wise man once told me that when you find the right person it is not hard to fall in love after just a few days.” Dark tells her. “Maybe that is why we have fallen in love so quickly. We were meant to be together Shiraishi, and I know I want to spend the rest of my days with you.” Dark says as he hugs her tighter. Shiraishi hugs Dark back as she breaks down and starts to cry.

“Shiraishi please do not cry. I will never leave your side I will always be here for you.” Dark tells her.

“Thank you Dark and I believe you would never harm me.” Shiraishi tells him. Dark pulls Shiraishi closer to him as they stand in their embrace.

“UMM… Excuse me Dark I really hate to interrupt, but I really need to get back to school or I am going to be late to my next class.” Afton tells him.

“Alright Afton we will go.” Dark says aloud.

Shiraishi pulls away from Dark as she looks at him, “I will explain that to you tonight and do not worry it is not a bad thing, but it can get a little confusing along the way.” Dark says as he gives her an unsure smile.

Shiraishi chuckles at him as she pulls him close to her and kisses him Dark was shocked by this, but soon over came it as he wrapped his arms around Shiraishi and pulled her close kissing her as well.

Dark soon pulled away from her as they smiled at one another, “We need to go, but I promise I will be here tonight.” Dark backs to the railing not taking his eyes from Shiraishi, he opens his wings as he walks backwards as they lift him from the balcony over the railing and off in the sky.

Dark is still facing her as he gives a slight wave saying, “Look for me tonight it will not be late I am coming to see you and that is all I am doing tonight.” Shiraishi walks to the railing reaching out for Dark as he fly’s back toward her he reaches out his hand taking hers he looks into her eyes and whispers to her, “I love you Shiraishi… I love you with all my heart and soul.”

Their hands slide from one another as he fly’s back leaving her standing there looking out to him. She watches Dark fly off into the mid day sun.

Shiraishi goes back to her room lying down on her bed before she knew it she was sound asleep as her dreams took her to a better place, her, and Dark together.

After school let out Afton was getting off the train walking home with Sanyu, neither one of them in a very talkative mood.

“Afton what’s up with you today you have been acting really strange?” Sanyu asks him.

Afton looks over at Sanyu, “Come on Afton we have known one another since grade school we have always told one another everything. What’s wrong with you?” Sanyu pries.

“Sorry Sanyu this is something I have to work out on my own, I really wish I could tell you, but you would not believe me even if I told you.” Afton tells him.

“What do you mean I would not believe you what kind of friend do you think I am?” Sanyu says.

Afton looks at him as they stop in front of Afton’s home, “Maybe later we can talk about it, but right now is not good. Will you settle for that?” Afton asks him.

“Sure Afton what ever you want, just remember if you need to talk I am always here for you.” Sanyu tells him.

“Thanks Sanyu I knew you would understand.” Afton tells him as he pats him on the back.

“Not a problem. Well I am going home Moms got things for me to do today and homework to boot. So call me later if you want.” Sanyu says walking away.

Sanyu turned waving at Afton as he waves back. Afton walks into the house walking back to the kitchen as he sees his Mother and Grandfather sitting at the table with long faces.

“What’s up?” Afton asks them.

“It is the jewel… Grandfather found something out about it today.” His Mother tells him. Afton walks quickly over to the table and takes a seat with them.

“What did you find out Grandpa?” Afton asks him.

“The jewel cannot be used until the tamers 18th birthday. The tamer does not get the full power to seal the jewel or to break the curse until then.” Grandpa tells him.

“So Shiraishi is safe until then… I wonder when Shiraishi’s 18th is.” Afton says with a smile.

“In two months.” His Mother says.

“Great Dark and I will have the jewel back from Krad by then.” Afton says still gleaming looking at everyone at the table, “So why all the long faces?” Afton adds.

“We put Shiraishi’s life in danger for no reason.” Grandpa tells him.

“What do you mean for no reason Grandpa?” Afton says.

“The curse seal was not weakening around the jewel, it just knew Shiraishi was close to it, so its powers were calling out to her.” Grandpa tells him.

“So we stole the jewel for no reason?!” Dark exclaims.

“Hang on Dark… Grandpa are you sure of this?” Afton says.

“Yes I am, I ran into Shiraishi’s Grandfather today at the teashop, and we sat and had a very long talk about the jewel. He had heard of the Niwa family as I have their family and we sat and talked about our families and the history they have.” Grandpa tells him.

“So you know everything about the jewel now right?” Afton says.

“Yes and I feel bad that we endangered that young girls life by thinking we were helping.” Grandpa tells him.

“Do not worry Grandpa Shiraishi will be safe as soon as Dark and I figure out where Krad has the jewel we will have it back and the jewel will be placed back were it belongs.” Afton tells him.

“Safe keeping for that jewel is back with its family or buried deep within the earth so no one will ever find it again to harm the tamer’s of the jewel. Shiraishi’s Grandmother lost her life because she would not do what the people wanted her to do, that found the jewel many years ago and Shiraishi’s Grandfather is worried for Shiraishi because he said she is very much like her Grandmother.” Grandpa tells him.

Afton hangs his head, “I did not know this. Poor Shiraishi knowing this and then knowing that one day she might have to do this if the jewel ever resurfaced. Now I see why she is so confused right now.” Afton says.

“Shiraishi has a heavy load on her shoulders right now and if Krad gets a hold of her and she fights him on this…” Grandpa pauses.

“NO… NO, I will not let Krad find her I will not let him harm her. I will keep her safe Dark and I will keep her safe if we have to spend every night on her balcony and guard her through the day to keep him away from her until we get the jewel back from him. We will do it…” Afton hangs his head again, “I will not let Dark lose the women he loves.” Afton says in a sad tone.

Grandpa places his hand on Afton’s shoulder giving him comfort as his Mother gets up and hugs him tight.

“I won’t let you lose her Dark. I know how much you love her and we will keep her safe.” Afton says to him aloud as a tear falls from Afton’s cheek as he feels Dark’s love for Shiraishi fill him inside.

Afton gets up from the table and goes to his room. After he walks from the room, his Mother looks at Grandpa saying, “I am worried about Dark, Grandpa he has fallen really hard for this young women Shiraishi.”

“Yes it has gotten so bad that his love is starting to be felt by Afton. I am afraid Dark is going to want to be separated from Afton soon.” Grandpa says.

“But Dad…” She started to say as he raised his hand to her to stop.

“I know what you are thinking, but there is nothing we can do about it my dear. We all know that Dark can pull away from his tamer at any given time he chooses, Dark has just never had something like this happen to him so he has stayed with them.” Grandpa tells her.

“I thought he was in love with that one girl Rika back when you’re Great Grandfather and Dark were together Dad?” Afton’s Mother says.

“Aiko my dear, Dark may have been in love then, but never has he felt a love like this. I do believe that she is the one that will get Dark to pull from his tamer.” Grandpa tells her.

“Then that would mean…” Aiko stops herself looking at her Father.

“Yes… that Dark and Krad will finally be their own person, all though they will have no powers… they will be human just as we are. At least until the next Niwa and Hikari boy is born.” Grandpa says.

As they sat there in silence the phone rings startling them both, Aiko got up and answered it.
