“Here By Me”
Chapter 13


Once back at Isabella’s Zack walks her to the front door he wraps his arms around her pulling her close he smiles as he says, “Isabella can you do me a favor?”

Isabella looks into his eyes as she asks, “Sure Zack what is that?”

“Well I am not sure how you will take what I have to say, but I need to tell you this because of the comment Bastian made to me at the theater.” Zack says.

“What did he say Zack?” Isabella asks him.

“He made the comment that you belonged to him and he will never stay away from you.” Zack tells her.

Isabella smirks as she shakes her head she says, “Sebastian said I belonged to him did he?”

“Yes he did and I know you told me about the advances he made on you since you have been back and I want you to tell me if he ever does that again, now that we are together. I have a feeling he is going to be even more aggressive toward you for fear of losing you.” Zack says.

Isabella touches Zack’s cheek as she smiles she says, “I can handle Sebastian if he gets out of line with me. You do not need to worry about that and if it gets to the point he is getting to bad with it or over aggressive with it you will be the first to know… I promise.”

Zack smiles as he says, “I trust you fully Isabella it is Sebastian I do not trust. He was not really happy tonight at the theater after he saw the ring I gave you.”

Isabella looks down at the ring as she says, “I can see why he would feel threatened by it, but he is going to have to understand I have to move on with my life. If I do not I could be at a stand still all my life waiting for my memories to return and I do not want that. I want to be able to live.”

Zack nods as he moves her hair from her face as a gentle breeze blew by. Isabella looks done at the ring as she looks back up to Zack she says, “Thank you Zack… for everything. You are the only one that is not pushing me to remember.”

Zack smiles as he tells her, “To be honest with you if I rush you to remember it means less time I will get to spend with you so I am willing to take it slow and steady and let your memories return on their own time.”

Zack still smiling at her as Isabella chuckles saying, “Well at least you’re honest about it.”

Zack kisses her and tells her, “Good night I will see you in the morning.”

Isabella kisses him again as she says, “I will be ready and waiting for when you get here.” Isabella opens the door and starts walking in as Zack and her hands slide apart Zack watches her walking in to the house he quickly grabs her hand again giving it a slight squeeze she turns looking at him as she smiles.

Zack says in a soft tone and tenderness in his eyes, “I love you Isabella.”

Isabella’s smile grows bigger as she says, “I know Zack…” She slides her hand from him as she says, “Good night…”

The door slowly closes between them as Isabella lays her head against it as it goes closed; she lifts her hand from the handle as she pushes against the door lifting her away from it she heard Zack driving away from the house as she stood there a few more minutes.


Isabella finally turns going to her room when she entered her room she did not turn on the light she walked to her bed grabbing her pajamas and walked to the bathroom she turns on the light in there and gets ready for bed. Isabella turns walking from the bathroom with the light still on when she reached the doorway she saw a shadow sitting in her room at her computer desk. Isabella stopped gasping for air from being startled as the shadow stood up from the chair and stepped into the moon light.

Isabella steps quickly out of the bathroom as she exclaims, “What the hell are you doing here Sebastian?! You scared the life out of me!” Isabella was standing right in front of him at this time.

“I needed to talk to you and it could not wait for morning.” Sebastian tells her reaching for her.

Isabella steps back from his touch as Sebastian sighs looking away from her he says, “I see you and Zack are a couple now?”

“Yes we are and I would appreciate it if you would not be so upset about it.” Isabella tells him.

Sebastian looks back at her with anger written all over his face as he exclaims, “UPSET… That is an understatement… Why could you not just be single while your memories return to you? This is going to drive me crazy seeing you two together.”

Isabella gets an angered look on her face as she says, “Then break up with Lisa and I will be with you.”

“You know I cannot do that Izzy.” Sebastian tells her.

“Then do not tell me who or who not to go out with. I will do as I please and when or if my memories return I will cross that bridge then.” Isabella says still angered.

Sebastian walks toward her as he grabs her arms jerking her to attention as he says, “Damn it Izzy I love you and I do not want to see you getting hurt by these other guys.”

“It is part of life Sebastian if it is meant for me to get hurt then I will, but I do not think Zack is going to be hurting me... He told me tonight he was in love with me.” Isabella tells him.

Sebastian hangs his head sighing as he says, “Just what I feared…” he looks back up to Isabella as he asks her, “And how do you feel about him?”

Sebastian stood there waiting for the worst, as Isabella looked him in the eyes she finally tells him, “I care for Zack very much he is a sweet guy and he treats me good and I like that. I am not saying I love him but…”

Isabella looks away from Sebastian as he jerks her back to his attention exclaiming, “BUT WHAT IZZY?!”

Isabella looks back at Sebastian as she tells him, “I could very easily… I do have feelings for him I just do not love him.”

Sebastian lets go of Isabella as he turns stepping away from her he runs his fingers through his hair as he tells her, “I do not want to lose you Izzy I love you very much, but I cannot just walk away from Lisa either.”

“So what makes you think you can walk away from Lisa when my memories return if you cannot walk away from her now Sebastian?” Isabella asks him.

“Because I will know then…” Sebastian tells her.

“You will know what Sebastian… If I loved you or not?? Why are you so worried about it? From what you and everyone tells me I was in love with you and you were and still are in love with me. Why do you have to make so darn sure it was a fact? If my heart truly belonged to you then it still does even if I do not remember it now.” Isabella tells him.

Sebastian turns looking at her upset Isabella did not think what she said would have upset him but it did as he exclaims, “BECAUSE I DO!! I HAVE TO KNOW IF YOU LOVED ME THEN AND I HAVE NOT JUST BEEN HANGING ON TO A CHILDHOOD MEMORY FOR ALL THESE YEARS… I HAVE TO KNOW IZZY… I JUST HAVE TOO!”

Sebastian lifts his hand to his face turning from her as Isabella walks over to him her eyes start to sting from the tears that are forming there as she touches the center of Sebastian’s back Isabella says, “I wish I could remember for you Sebastian… even if my memories where to break your heart… I wish I could remember for you.”

Isabella starts to cry as the tears flow down her cheeks Sebastian turns taking her into his arms as he says, “I know deep in my heart you loved me, but my bull headiness will not let me be with you without the truth.”

Sebastian pulls her closer to him as he hugs her tighter she hears him whisper into the darkness, “God I love you so much Isabella and all I want is for us to be together once again like it was back then.”

Isabella holds Sebastian closer to her as she says softly, “I wish I would have never left you or Rockwell Sebastian. I know there is something there I just do not know what it is I am feeling.”

Sebastian moves away from the hug as he touches Isabella’s cheek looking into her eyes he slowly moves toward her as their lips brush against one another’s Isabella hangs her head she leans into him as their foreheads rest on one another’s Sebastian says, “I am sorry Isabella I should not have tried to kiss you.”

Isabella pulls away from Sebastian as she takes his hand leading him to her bed she stops at the side of it as she reaches down pulling down the covers Sebastian stands there with a look of confusion as Isabella turns looking at him as she says, “Stay with me tonight and hold me Sebastian…”

She leans into him wrapping her arms around him as she cries she says, “Please just hold me tonight I need that from you right now. I do not know why, but something inside of me needs you by my side tonight.”

Sebastian hugs her tighter as they stand there in silence for a few minutes holding one another she hears Sebastian softly say, “I will stay with you tonight Isabella and hold you ever so close to me all through the night.”


The next morning Isabella awakes to her alarm going off she rolls over to turn it off she hits the snooze button, she turns quickly looking back at the pillow beside her. She lifts her hand to her head as she says aloud, “Was I dreaming last night or did Sebastian spend the night with me?” She looks around the room to see if she could find any traces of Sebastian and if he had really been there or not. Her eyes fell upon a piece of paper that had been folded and placed on top of her keyboard she climbs from her bed as she goes and picks it up. Isabella opens the note as it read,

Isabella,

I left early so not to cause a scene with your parents or anyone else that might walk into the room and find us together. I want you to know holding you in my arms last night while you slept was the most peaceful and enjoyable night I have had in many years. I do hope we can be together again soon… after last night I do not know if my heart or soul could stand much more of being away from you. I Love You With ALL My Heart.

See you in school later today,

Isabella feels as if someone was behind her as she turns looking toward her door her mother was standing there looking at her as she asks, “Are you going to turn off your alarm clock Izzy?” Isabella looks over at her clock as she finally comes back to reality hearing her alarm buzzing to no end.

“Oh sorry mom I guess I was lost in my own little world there for a second.”

Isabella walks over to her alarm clock as she turns it off she hears her mother say, “That is alright I just thought something might be wrong or you were in the shower unable to get to it.”

Joan turns as she goes to walk from Isabella’s room as Isabella calls to her, “Mom?!”

Joan turns looking at her as she says, “Yes Isabella?”

Isabella looks at her mother as she says, “Do you think it is possible for me to still have feelings for Sebastian, but not be able to remember our past together or what the feelings are about?”

Her mother looks at her confused as she says, “Why do you ask that Izzy?”

Isabella looks down at the folded note in her hand as she says, “Because I want to be near Sebastian and I feel so safe and happy with him and these feelings I have for him callout to me wanting him with me, but I do not know why. It feels like love and the feeling of need, they call to me to go to Sebastian to be with him and I do not know why.”

“I cannot tell you what is going on there Izzy that is something you will have to talk to you councilor about. I do not know how you will remember it could be your mind that will remember or your feelings or even if you can remember feelings without your memories coming back. I am as confused as you are when it comes to all of this. They only advice I can give you is to do what feels right to you, even if others think it is wrong.” Joan tells her.

Isabella sits down on the edge of her bed as she looks down at the note in her hand her mother walks over and sits next to her as she places her hand on top of Isabella’s.

Isabella looks up at her mother as a tear trickles down her cheek as she says, “Why does all this have to hurt so badly? I feel like someone has pulled my heart from my chest and danced on it then put it back.”

Her mother moves her hair from her face as she says, “All you can do Isabella is move forward. We cannot go back… I know that is what you would like to do with all of this, but if your memories never come back to you. You have to do what you feel is right in your heart and if being with Sebastian is what you feel is right then you do that, but if it is not well then you know what to do from there.”

Isabella hangs her head again as she starts to cry tears falling to her hands as she says, “Sebastian will not be with me until my memories have returned, even if I go to him and tell him I love him, he will not leave Lisa.”

“How do you know that Isabella have you told Sebastian you are in love with him?” Isabella shakes her head as he mother moves her hair back draping it over Isabella’s shoulder. “Then all you can do is live with this until your memories return to you or tell Sebastian how you feel about him.”

Isabella stands quickly as she heads to her bathroom her words trailing behind her, “No I cannot tell Sebastian anything until I know for a fact that I am in love with him I do not want to hurt him any more then I already have.”

The bathroom door closes as her mother sits there shaking her head she hears the water come on as she gets up from the bed leaving the room.


A few minutes later Isabella comes down stairs to have breakfast with her mother and father as she walks to the dinning room, she starts to feel light headed as she places her hand on the doorframe for support she hangs her head and stands there for a second as she hears her father say,

“Isabella are you ok dear?”

Her mother and father sit there looking at her as she slowly draws her hand to her head they see her slowly start to descend to the floor on to her knees. Her father jumps up going to her quickly he touches her as Isabella jerks away from him and pushes herself against the wall drawing her knees up into her chest. He looks into her eyes as he sees nothing but pure fear sitting in them he reaches for her again touching her once more asking her,

“Izzy are you alright?”

Isabella screams at the top of her lungs as she covers her ears with her hands as she places her head down on her knees she falls over onto the floor as Zack comes running into the dinning room he sees Isabella laying on the floor as he exclaims, “What happen is she alright?”

“We do not know Zack she came in her and like went into her own little world.” Joan says now standing next to Jon, which is on the floor with Isabella. Jon touches Isabella as she is now weeping into her hands on the floor like a lost little child.

“She is shaking like a leaf… Get a Blanket!” Jon exclaims as Paul and Kathryn are now standing in the dinning room as well.

Kathryn runs and gets a blanket for Isabella as Paul asks, “Would you like me to get an ambulance sir?”

“No let’s see if we can get her to talk to us first.” Jon tells him.

Kathryn runs back into the dinning room with the blanket as Zack takes it from her going to Isabella he covers her over and looks at Jon as he says, “Maybe we should get her to her bed sir.” Jon nods as Zack goes to pick her up from the floor.

Isabella jerks from Zack as she hits her head on the wall hard knocking her out cold. Jon looks at Paul as he says, “Go call them Paul.” Paul nods leaving the room to call 911.

Zack gets Isabella up and carriers her to her room laying her in her bed as they wait for the paramedics to arrive. No sooner then Zack took a seat at her side he heard the sirens of the ambulance as they pulled up out in front of Isabella’s home. He hears them rush up the stairs as he stands to give them room. They ask her mother and father what happen and if that had ever happened before as they stand there talking Zack walks out on to Isabella’s balcony feeling a little overwhelmed about what was going on. The paramedics check Isabella over, as they talk about what has happened in her past and her condition now.

As they talk and check Isabella over she comes to. Isabella blinks her eyes a few times trying to see who was around her for she could only make out voices at the time knowing only her mothers and fathers.

The paramedic checking her over smiles at her as she looks up trying to focus on him as he says, “Hello… My name is Jim and I am the paramedic your parents called. You hit your head pretty hard can I ask you if you remember what happened.”

Zack walks back into the room hearing him talk to Isabella. Isabella looks at him then turns looking at her mother and father as she starts to cry again between sobs she says, “I thought I was never going to see you again. I was so scared…”

Isabella sobs harder as she says, “Those men… Those men… they killed everyone… everyone is dead. Please God save me… PLEASE…”

Isabella screams again as her father grabs her up holding her tight in his arms as a tear trickles down his cheek he says, “My God why of all her memories did you have to give her back this one?” Joan sits behind Isabella as she holds her and Jon in her arms as she weeps as well.


After a few minutes of them crying and telling Isabella, she is all right and nothing is going to happen to her the paramedics check Isabella over again giving her a sedative to keep her calm.

They start putting things away as one tells them, “I would keep an eye on her today with such a memory coming back to her. There is no telling what kind of emotional outburst she might suffer.”

Joan nods as she tells them, “Thank you and we will.” She shows them to the door as Jon and Zack sit in her room with her. Isabella lays in her bed as she looks like she is fighting in her dreams she tosses and turns her head as she calls out in her sleep,

“No… No… Please stop… PLEASE STOP! NOOOOOOOOO…”

Isabella goes quiet as her movements stop as well. Her father touches her cheek as she moves to his touch he hears her say, “Sebastian… I am sorry.”

Zack hangs his head knowing she is thinking of Sebastian. Isabella goes quite again as Joan walks back into her room she sees Zack sitting there as she says, “You’re late for school.”

“Your right I need to be going.” Zack says not wanting to leave but knowing that once Isabella awakes she will not be asking for him but for Sebastian instead. He stands to his feet as he looks at Joan he says, “I know Isabella will not be asking for me when she comes to, but would you please call me and let me know how she is doing?”

Joan nods touching Zack’s arm as he walks past her out of Isabella’s room going to school. Joan sits down in Zack’s place as she looks at Jon she says, “Do you think she will remember everything when she comes to?”

“I do not know, but it would not hurt to get her councilor on the phone and let her know what is going on with her right now. She may want to be here when Isabella awakes.” Jon says.

Joan nods as she leaves the room again, Jon sits there looking down on his daughter as she starts to dream again crying in her sleep as she says, “Please God do not let me die I only want get out of here alive. Please God let someone find me down here.” Isabella was huddled into a little ball on her bed as he saw tears streaming down her cheeks.

Tears flow down Jon’s cheeks as well as he can only imagine the fear and how scared his daughter was as she laid in what could have been her grave. As his own thoughts ran wild about that awful day they thought they had lost their only child and feeling what the other parents felt as the rescue teams pulled there dead child or children from the rubble of the school.

Jon leans over his daughter as he holds her in his arms crying he caresses Isabelle’s hair and thanks God for keeping her alive for the three days they searched the rubble for survivors.
