2001 Red River Big Oldies (and kit) car show
The Colorado contigent:
Many other kits and replicas made the trip from the Oklahoma clubs and new Mexico including many Cobra replicas.  This was quite a display, and it was nice to be able to meet some of the people I had only conversed with via email up until then.
One of our most ambitious gatherings was a trip to Red River New Mexico to join in the Big Oldies Car Show.  This was held June 9th 2001 and several of us did make the trip.  Ron Schlattman came down in his 1934 Mercedes replica, Dusty and Sharon Johnson came in their Excalibur, and I came in the Aztec 7 with my wife Terri and sons Dylan and Logan following along .  This was quite an adventure for the johnsons, as their first choice for transportation was their Auburn Boattail, but as they came through Denver, the car gave out (I believe it was an electrical problem), and they needed to be towed back to Loveland.  I’m glad they were able to make the trip though!
I bet Ron is glad he made the trip as well, since he came away with
Best in class and Best in Show trophies!!
