UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN (Diane Lane) Very much a feel good movie. After being told by her cheating husband that he wants a divorce (and the house!) Diane Lane's character takes her friend's offer to go to Tuscany on a gay tour! She falls in love with a house and makes a spontaneous decision to buy it. Much fun and frustration on-sue and I think that most women would definitely enjoy this heartfelt movie. Rating: 4.5 out of 5 |
BARBERSHOP 2: BACK IN BUSINESS (Ice Cube, Eve, Queen Latifah, Cedric the Entertainer) Funny but maybe not as interesting as the first. This one again deals with Calvin having to choose morals over cash to save his business and the businesses in the neighbourhood. I love Ice Cube but like Eve and Queen Latifah in their roles even more. A particularily funny point in the movie is when Cedric the Entertainer's character sees the love of his life across the subway station and recalls the first time they med on the subway and how he raced to find her. And I do mean RACED! Rating: 3 out of 5 |
TWISTED (Ashley Judd, Andy Garcia, Samuel L. Jackson) An ok movie but not one I'd write home about. Ashley Judd plays a cop who is promoted to homicide after catching a killer. Once detective a body turns up that appears to be a man she had a one night stand with. Soon it becomes evident that a seriel killer is on the loose when another body turns up. And it turns out to be another one of her lovers! If you were to pay attention to the finer details of the movie you would instantly figure out who the person was that was the killer but unless you really think, you will probably miss it. Which means it is either a really good movie or just another one of those movies with a "twist". Rating: 2.5 out of 5 |
ELLA ENCHANTED (Anne Hatheway) Kind of a cross between Shrek and The Princess Bride but not even half as funny as either. There are a few (very few) good points in the movie but you would end up watching the clock to see when it's over rather than actually watching the movie. However, it may be a good movie for girls under 10. Rating: 1 out of 5 |
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR (Elisha Cuthbert) In someways it is worth a watch. But in most ways it isn't. If you guys are looking to see some "X-Rated" scenes, perhaps with Cuthbert, don't hold your breath. Not even the scenes that were "too steamy" for the screen aren't very steamy. And the story line sucks. If it weren't for the pretense of sex, there would be nothing to this movie. If you liked American Pie, you won't like this one. If you like the subsequent American Pie movies, you may like this one as it is just as pointless as those 2 movies. Rating: 1.5 out of 5 |
