Discipline for Individual Progress & Social Harmony

A talk about discipline is not entering into the field of ethics. It is the sensible way for individuals to live happily in a society. Discipline is a commitment to be fair and equitable to the co-members of the society, of which you are a concomitant part. This is the basic ingredient that fosters a group, provides the strength of the group to each individual, and makes the individual members of the group each live in comfort and peace. Real discipline lies in merging your self-interest with the overall interests of the group.

Discipline & Personal Integrity are not different. Discipline is the manifested values in the behaviour and attitude of an individual in relation to co-members of his group or team, while personal integrity is the inherent purity and acceptance of ethical standards in life, that one sets for himself. Integrity is self-acceptance of behaviour standards and codes in conformity with rules and regulations applicable to the individual, while discipline is its manifested adherance. Discipline can be enforced, while integrity is a trait that is instinct and inborn in the individual.

"Real civilisation lies in the individual accepting a high-value-life, and to live in perfect harmony with society and nature". Basic concepts developed in the project, are quoted extensively in appropriate contexts in various other projects. This is the Lead Project in this web site

In real life we do not hear people talk about integrity, honesty or the need for positive values, but we hear frequently about complaints of corruption, nepotism, crime etc. The common man wants to be simple and honest, but the environment is conducive to corrupt forces. Violations of code and even that of law and of economic crimes are commonly viewed with a spirit of tolerance and meek acceptance in society. This is not forbearance, but abject surrender to what we know is despicable.

A sports-person cannot claim credit for his success unless he adheres to the rules and spirit of the game he plays. So too an individual cannot claim himself as successful in life unless he accepts discipline and sticks to strict adherence of social codes of conduct

The web site is a crusade against corporate corruption and corruption at the high levels in bank administration. But it is more appropriate to start the theme with a positive note, stressing the value of pristine qualities. It is therefore befitting that this forms the lead project on this website. Inherently it also absorbs the conduct regulations applicable for public servants.

Man is a social being. He is immensely influenced by the thinking and behaviour of the group(s) to which he is affiliated. The group both formal and informal imparts a synergic strength to the individuals forming part of it. Man is more influenced by what he gets inspired than on the strength of his own initiative and independent self-perception. The group dynamics and group behaviour is considered in brief in the second part.
