This page is to show love to my daughter, Bethany Marie.
Bethany Marie was born on the 29th of January. She was just a Tiny little thing at 6lbs, 3oz. She was 19 1/2 inches long and had a head full of jet black hair. I guess you could say that I was blessed by a very simple pregnancy with no problems, an active baby in the womb and lots of hope for what was to come. She was a quiet little one, until the alarm clock was set to snooze, then it was party time!!! Her thing was to dance around for an hour or two before she would let me get to sleep. To her it was just time to play. When she was born, the poor doctor and intern had to catch her, she was so eager to arrive that she pushed herself out of the womb and lept into their arms. She was a sight to see, and one that was definately welcome, as all of my friends were just outside of the delivery room, waiting to hear her cry. And when she did, the hospital lit up. She was a joy to have around, unless she decided that the bed was hers and mom could just sleep on the floor. Even at two weeks old, she would turn herself to kick me in the back or side and push me out of bed so that she could spread herself out and have it all. She talked early and read early, but that was only a hint of what I could expect of her as she got older.
She is my little artist, and her talent is great. She writes poetry like an adult, and her love of books amazes even me. She will be in the seventh grade this next fall, and her ability to learn astounds me. She reads at a college level, and easily attacks challenges that come her way. She constantly surprises me with how well she absorbs information, and how she utilizes it. She has a dry sense of humor that will put a smile on your face, or make you roll your eyes.
She is a Daddy's Girl. She adores her dad, and follows in his footsteps in many ways. She loves her little brother, Cullen, and yet she loves to antagonize him to the point that he screams. They are so cute together when she decides it's time to teach him something new. She has been both a sister to him and a little Mom. She has helped me with him and has brought me to tears at the unselfish things that she does for him. Her heart is full of love and hope. For this, I admire her.
I look at her and see a bright future, not just for her, but for the world around her. She has an open heart and a joyous spirit. At nearly fifteen years old, she has shown many adults that their archaic ways of thinking need to be turned around. And in that, she has shown them love and understanding. If only we all could be that wise and open.
So to my Bethany Marie, I Love You, Honey. You are the brightest star in my Heaven. Love, Mommy.
