In the dark of night, the one man sneaks through the streets of Paris.  His mission?  To rescue anyone doomed to a cruel and untimely death.  He and his small band of friends together manage to defy the Committee of Public Safety and all of the Parisian mobs.  The year is 1792, and the man has come to be know across the continent as the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Back in England, during an opera, a sly man walks into the opera box of the wealthiest, most popular woman in the country.  Suprising her, he states his business.  Either she will find the identity of the Scarlet Pimpernel, or her beloved brother will be sent to the guillotine for treason.
