B border batto coat of arms Jean Batto (1806-1884) and his wife Therese Doridam (Toretan), (1810-1883) came to Texas in 1864 from Mittelwihr, Alcase, France. They were married and had 5 children born in Alcase; Jean(died as an infant), Christian, Anna Marie, Jean, and Bernhard. Three other children were born in America; Joseph, Regina, and Theresa. Ben (Bernhard) was a Texas Ranger, helping to track down Geronimo and Big Foot Wallace. He moved to Bandera settled there and raised 6 children. The property he purchased has been in the family for over 100 years and has been inducted into the Family Land Heritage Program by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

greiner coat of arms The German name Greiner, Grenier or Griner is of Teutonic origin and is a form of the names Grein(er) and Crein(er) Greiner is also of Norman - French origin signifying "one who works in a green field or wasteland"

Ernst Greiner came to America through New York from Switzerland. He worked as a stone mason helping build the Brookyln Bridge. He moved to Texas, Married Mary Gerloff, and raised 7 children. He also helped build several of the stone buildings around the Brackenridge Park area and many homes in the King Williams area of San Antonio

theis coat of arms Ferdinand Theis Sr. a member of a prominent German family settled in southeastern Bexar County Texas around 1857. He owned a large portion of what is now known as Pecan Valley in San Antonio, including the Pecan Valley Golf Course. Along with other landowners, He formed the Salado Water Supply Company around 1912; drilled an artesian well near Fort Sam Houston and directed the flow into the Salado Creek. In the early 1960's over 500 acres were sold by his heirs and other landowners to Mr. E. J. Burke for the development of the Pecan Valley Apartments, Pecan Valley Country Club and Golf Course and the Pecan Valley Subdivision.

A son, Joe Theis raised pecan trees in 210 acres of the Pecan Valley area. Joe grafted his pecan trees and collected a sampling of over 96 different varieties. Some were so large that 4 unshelled and 9 shelled pecans would make a pound of the tasty nuts.
