On the Glitz

 

Text Box: We did make the seminars we were interested in. We also spent a bit of time venturing around and window shopping at the vender displays and booths. It’s nice to dream looking at all the fancy jewelry, clothes, wigs and things. We being a bit more mature and having been out for awhile did not need too many newer items; but I think we each purchased a few of those things, that a girl needs on an on going basis to look her best. I did buy myself something I had not purchased in years. I brought myself some glue on nails so I could have some pretty and fancy nails for the evening’s dinner and entertainment. I later discover why I had not purchased them in sometime. After an afternoon of browsing the venders’ wares and chatting with old and new friends we headed back to Joanne’s to relax a little and get ready for the evening. Text Box: It was Friday morning when Nora and I, or should I say Norm and Bob, headed out for a weekend of fun. A trip to Phoenix and a weekend of “Puttin on the Glitz”. Our expectations were high for a wonderful time with some terrific girls. We arrived in Phoenix with no problems along the way. We made it to Joanne’s home and were ready to start the fun. We were a bit rushed as the activities would start that evening with a social gathering. How’s a girl to look her best when the time is ticking away and it just doesn’t seem like there is enough of it left. I think we managed to do a fair job of it and were on our way. Thankfully we had Joanne, a local girl, as a guide and we were able to take the best route and navigate the streets without getting lost. The Hotel was pleasant and the Lounge where we gather for the evening was cozy but adequate to accommodate the gathering. The hors d’oeuvres were good and an atmosphere of fun made getting to know one another exciting. The evening was pleasant, although it had rained earlier, made stepping out into the court yard pleasant especially for a girl such as me, who smokes. We met a few girls from previous “Glitz’s” mainly from Tucson and made a few new friends who traveled from places beyond Arizona. The “Puttin on the Glitz” weekend and Ball is a joint venture by several groups in the Phoenix area; the Cactus Rose, Transgender Harmony and the Phoenix Tri-ess Chapter, Alpha Zeta. We were hoping meet see a number of the Alpha Zeta Girls there; but outside of Joanne and one other newer girls there were not any there. Several of the Tucson group we already knew were present and it was nice to see them again. Needless to say with the travel and late evening Friday we didn’t wake too early, especially this girl…..”Needs all the Beauty sleep she can get”.
