BETRAYAL
~
Her innocence was ruptured
by the hands of gross deceit
the flower of her childhood
fell in fragments at her feet.

Her guardian of trust
sedately climbed the social stairs
avoiding shadowed puddles
formed by mutilated tears.

Our species shares atrocities
that emanate from hell
but none is more inhuman
than a childhood's broken shell.

ONE SMALL SILENCE

One trust broken
dims the glow
of the splendor we share

One heart shattered
adds an ache
to the burden we bear

One soul ravaged
smears a stain
on our pattern's design

One small silence
cleaves a rift
in the ripple of time
