Cartoon of Shirley Smith by Anneke 2003

Women's Winning Ways of Leadership

Shirley Smith was a leader who used small steps to gain more followers.  As most of her followers were Aboriginal, each goal Shirley achieved, banded together her followers further.  With a willingness to take risks and an optimistic view on life, Shirley made others feel important, through land grants and other programmes, so they would follow her cause.
