Old Ben woke up in the evening to the sound of fireballs flying threw the air. It is actually you killing the two mages outside of Elazars Tower. “Dear heavens, what is going on.” Then all of a sudden the fireballs stop. And he heard the dying Shaman scream in pain. Then there was silence. Old Ben gets out his book and uses the light from the hole in the floor to continue to write. “I don’t know what has woken me up, I just heard fireballs and two man or Sha'ahoul scream. It was around this time yesterday when that branch gave way and I fell on top of the Naga. I killed him instantly. My weight knocked him off balance and his head smashed into a rock killing him instantly. It was his friend however that attacked me, well no use for pity now…. Well after my encounters with Overon and realized that he knew of the Ahoul for five years I decided to go to the Capital of Oriam to tell what I knew. I believe that since the Leopard Clan knew of us, that Seven Kingdom's should know of them. The Castle of Oriam had looked very familiar to what is now the Citadel of Avalon, that must explain of it's fast creation. Just follow the same plans as the original. I entered threw South Gate. That is when they were doing the repair work on East Gate. I had butterflies in my stomach as the heavy iron portcullis was lifted and made that grinding sound and jerked when it was up all the way. I walked into the Outer Bailey where there were about a hundred men, whom now may they rest in peace, training. I asked Penrith where I might find Mudam. “Oh Mudam, yeh… uh let me see. You must be a friend of him since you know that he is visiting the Citadel for a few months. Well you go into these doors. Make a left---no a right, ha ha ha you will end up in the mess hall if you make a left! (had his usually rhaspy chuckle) Well after making the right, go up stairs. Then follow the hallway and it will lead you to his room. If you make a left as soon as you get up the stairs you will end up by Felious’s room. And well on a hot and humid day it sure smells…..well you know him. Hopefully some day he will be moved out of the Outer Keep. Maybe he should be in the basement of the Innerkeep. DEEP in that basement!” he said with a smaile and a wink. When I entered the Citadel I heard Mrs. Potter screaming on the top of her lungs. She was in charge of the mess hall before. She had a big mouth and every scrap of food that was left over she would flip out and fume about it. It is a shame that an Ahoul arrow killed her during her attempt to escape from the hoards of Sha'ahoul, so soon into the war started. I’m sorry for going off like this. It isn’t easy to confess that I am responsible for all the deaths of the Seven Kingdoms. Well I entered the second floor in the Outer Keep and was greeted by from Felious. I was one of the few that would even bother with him. It was the stench that kept us from becoming good friends. “Hey Old Ben. How have you been?” he asked. I replied, “I have been fine.” Felious went on his way. The best thing about him is that he would never hang around you until you would vomit. I had always liked him, but his practice I never cared for. What good could it possibly do for Avalon anyway? I walked into Mudams room and there he was at a table writing documents. And mumbling. He hated when he had to sit and write documents. He was more of the adventurous type. “Well I see that you are winding down in your old age, ehe?” I spoke in a boisterous tone. “Old age! Damn you man, I am not old enough not to sneak up on the enemy and kill them all with arrows before they know that they were all dead!” Well I fired him up and had to calm him down, “well I was only busting you. I always knew that you hated writing documents and not out there killing intruders, or mescwog at least.” “Well I guess that I did get hot headed again…” “I purposely got you fired up, I get a good laugh when you get a fired up.” “Well I guess so…YOU WHAT! GET ME ALL FIRED UP SO YOU CAN LAUGH ALL DAY LONG! Ben what is the matter with you?” That’s when I busted out laughing. Then we started talking about old memories. Of when we first became scouts. We had spent the better part of the day drinking and laughing.” Well after the whole day went by, I wanted to tell him about the Leopard Clan, but couldn’t. Mudam said as he sat up in his chair. “So Ben, we talked about the past now let’s talk about what you are currently doing…” “Well the other day, . . . well . . . oh it isn’t much. You’re having more fun then me. That’s why I came over.” I lied... Mudam looked at me with a serious expression on his face. “Ben, you are lying to me….why are you lying to me. We have trusted each other for our whole lives. And now, you lie to me?” “Mudam there is a lot of pressure on me. I have been given an assignment and can’t tell anyone about it. I’m sorry. That is why I cam over here today. You see. I kneaded a good laugh. And, well thank you.” SOA-4-music to listen to. Well with my bow and quiver and my dagger, I had left for the Sha'ahoul village I left his room and returned to Oriam. There those three weeks passed, bitterly. Thinking of lying to my dear firend, who would take an arrow for my life...I am sorry Mudam, if you are still alive and read this. I had arrived in the village at dusk. Mithras walked over to me. “Ah, Old Ben. I am glad you came. I had told my villagers that the enemy will be here in several hours. And the enemy plans on scaring them out of the village. When the run out of the village they think that Miren’s army will easily slay them. It will be in a few hours, when the sun sets that the attack will start. There is another of our God that I haven't told you about. Lord of Winds, he shall blow the un-pure air of out enemy away and if needed be the Lady shall creat a pillar of fire and the lord shall creat a gust of wind and all of the village shall be destroyed. They will only do this to protect our village. Be we are men of honor! And we shall fight this enemy to the end." I was a bit puzzled for this made no sense at all. "Sha'Mithras, may I ask why the Lord and Lady don't destroy the enemy for you?" "Very well, the enemy has powerful artafacts that the Lord and Lady wan't. If they go and destroy the village with a wind full of fire then all shall be lost. And when we get these artifacts they shall draw more power among us all! And make the Lord and Lady more powerful." After that we parted and it was almost time for battle. Music to listen to: I climbed into a tree. And waited. When the sun had set and I saw the enemies torches in the woods coming closer to the village. Then the attack had begun. I had never been in a battle with so many men. Sha'Mithras's army shot arrows. And killed a good portion of Miren’s army before they even had a chance to attack. “This isn’t a war, it’s a slaughter.” I had said to my self. Just then I heard many screams from behind me. The other half of Miren's army attacked from behind. I jumped out of the tree and aided the Leopard Clan all that I could. It was hard telling my allies and enemies apart for they were all the same. I climbed up another tree. And aimed and released my first arrow. I had shot a caster in the forehead killing him instantly. I did the same with two more. Then a fireball struck the tree. It broke the branch that I was using for support and I fell to the ground. In that split second all I saw and heard was the cracking of the branch and the hot embers flying in the air. One of Miren's army grabbed me by the hair and pulled me up. I grabbed for my dagger and stabbed him in the gut. That is when I first saw Sha'ahoul blood. It was black, not red like humans. I then loaded up an arrow and shot the caster that knocked me out of the tree. That caster was about to cast a fireball, but in the middle of that cast I had killed him which sent the fire ball flying aimlessly and killed one of Miren's guards. I climbed back up the tree and fired several more arrows. Killing evey caste that I could and I belive that I had also killed a clan leader by the fancy head dress. Several of the clay house were being destroyed. The wood inside them was set on fire. I saw about twenty Sha'ahoul take out an elite guard. After all the fightning had ended. The village was littered with corpses. There was a smokey haze as the sun's first rays of light shone brightly over the village. Sha'Mithras gathered the troop and we headed off to Miren’s village. About a whole third of Mithras’s army was killed off. We marched threw the woods and we entered the village. Sha'Mithras then gave the command, “You shall kill every living Ahoul here! And Miren is to be captured ALIVE!” We went out. I looked for men only, but there were no men in the village. A little boy charged at me with a stone dagger, I pulled back my arrow and it flew into the boy’s chest. He stumbled back a couple of feet and dropped on the ground and rolled a few feet. I had never shot a kid before. His, whom I though was his mother threw a rock at me. I then shot her too with an arrow. She fell on her son’s body. I had no choice but to aid Sha'Mithras’s army. I ran after a kid that was trying to get away from the attackers. I followed him into the woods. As he tried to jump over a stream I shot him with an arrow and his body fell into the water. When I returned from out of the village, I saw that all the wood was being burned. The crops were being destroyed. “They are, savages! They are ripping everything apart…with their bare hands!” Then Miren was pulled from out of a temple. Miren was not what I had expect, Miren was a queen. She was thrown on the ground, and beaten with a club. They hit her until she was almost knocked out. Then they drug here into a cart and locked it, well tied the cage door shut with a rope. I saw her bloody face as she moaned in pain from the bashing that she had recieved. We then left the burning village, when their temple was destroyed. That night I was too tired to have gone back to Oriam so I slept in a vacant tent. I decided to question Miren. She was in what I assumed to be the barracks. The guards let me in the building that she was locked up in. She was locked up in a cage. I wanted to see her because I wanted to get a better look at her. She looked up at me. I saw her bloody face. There were some pretty deep cuts in her face that she had probably recieved after she was brought here. Music to listen to: level 1 final (I strongly suggest that you listen to this clip to set the mood) “So once again humans and us are together….” She said in a raspy voice. “That is none of you concern, I just want to get a good look at you.” I said with a cold heart. “Before I die, may I make a request of you” Well I had no idea what she had wanted but I said anyway, “as long as it isn’t you freedom from punishment." She then spoke, well gave a confession is more like it. “I wish not to die a liar, please here my confession.” She begged with tears running down her checks. I listened. “It wasn’t humans who killed the villagers in LeonardsVille. It was my ancestors. Those seven children attacked the humans. They burned down the crops first, then the village. This battle lasted for several days. You see. They worship a daemon named Lucifer.” “Lucifer! Huh, You know of my religion and the battles that we have against this deamon! You take me for a fool!” I was so angered that I slapped her across the face. “How dare you, you, wretch! If not by Sha'Mithras, or the Lady and the Lord, then I shall kill you for this! As I was leaving she yelled, “Mithras is evil! He will burn down your Seven Kingdoms!” I of course stopped in my tracks… I didn’t want to believe such a thing. I had thought that we were invincible. Right there I heard the prophecy. Right at that very moment I heard of the destruction and all the deaths. As I stood frozen she continued. “Kill Mithras, before he gains power! It isn’t only the Seven Kingdome's but the…” I left before I could hear what she had said. I wonder what else he wanted to do. The next day she would die. Miren was drug up the side of the volcano as dawn approached. I was one of the few that were allowed to watch her death. The Lady of Fire questioned her. She refused to answer then the Lady of Fire raised her hand and a small fireball floated gently on Miren’s head. All of a sudden Miren was engulfed in flames and ran screaming. She ended up running off the platform and fell into the lava below. She didn’t scream though, I guess that as she started to fall, she was already dead. The Lady of Fire made her same disappearing act. Mithras approached me. “So you talked with her?” “Yes Sha’Mithras” “And?” “She wanted me to slay you. And she stated that you were to be a grand conqueror over my people” “She had spies here. We have had sicknesses. This is Sha’Exabiter” I saw the Clan Leader that watched me like a hawk. “Forgive me Va'Ben, I was to hunt out a spy from Miren. I had accused you because of you skin. But it is what is on the inside that matters. Not the outside. But the fire within you." We talked for hours and when it was late, I slept at the village again. And I learned that Va' was an honorary title given to the warrior cast. The next day, there was an illness threw-out the village. I guess from the dead bodies that were never burned. They had laid there for a whole day. And with the merscwog running rampant and the flies on the copses I knew that I had to help them. If only I could get Brother Mo to help with the sickness…. ::::end of the confession part4:::: The confession gets darker as Ben ponders the idea of letting brother Mo in on the Sha'ahoul camp.
