| Day 1756 (the next day)
A small and insignificant mutant encounter today. Battle Records: Jezeg = 8 kills (all by FB). Caradryan = 5 kills (all by FB). Nadon = 4 kills. Ilmarian = 1 kill, First Blood. Nivak = 1 kill. Day 1759 (3 days later) A man passes by, traveling in the opposite direction. He warns us to turn around and head back to Marienburg for there are monstrous, glowing orange wolves attacking and mauling villagers where he’s coming from. We thank him for the news and press forward. Day 1760 (the next day) That night: We arrive in a small town. The Dancing Minstrel looks to be the most inviting of the two inns, so we acquire a room for the night. We probe the innkeeper for information about the wolves we heard about. He says more or less the same as Traveling Man, but that the wolves are black, not glowing orange. Growlyn insists on hunting down the wolves to rid the villagers of this dangerous threat. He’s out-voted – badly. A wolf cry is distinctly heard as we’re heading upstairs to our room and the innkeeper immediately bolts the front door, not letting anyone in or out. Nadon climbs up to the roof from an upstairs window hoping to be able to pick off a few wolves, but doesn’t see anything once he’s up there. Doesn’t seem that there’s much else to do about it tonight. Day 1761 (the next day) I wake to screaming outside. Certainly not the most pleasant way to go about waking up in the morning! We meet Otto, the local dog-trainer. His prize war dog, Hansy, has gone missing – he feels it’s been stolen in the night. No one else in town is willing to take on the task of finding Hansy, so of course it falls to us to save the day. Otto offers us 200 Gold upon Hansy’s return and gives us his bloodhound, Old Killer, to assist in the search. We get about 2 miles and are attacked by what appears to be human bandit-types. All but two are dispatched quickly and easily. The two kept alive have been done so for interrogation purposes. I see Caradryan casting out of the corner of my eye and that’s the last thing I remember before I wake up on the ground and it appears that we’re getting ready to move on. Caradryan explains that I was closest to him and he couldn’t possibly have wasted his spell since there weren’t any bandits left to cast on. Why does it seem that my entire family has turned against me? Well, we do continue on to a woodsman’s house as our prisoner bandits have said this is where the dog is being held. Upon arriving at the house, we split up. Nivak, Ilmarian, and Growlyn take Conrad (one of the prisoner bandits) up to the front door – Nivak shouting for Conrad’s companions to come out. Nadon and Bruticus go around to the back of the house in case there’s another door. I stay with the rest of the party in case an attack comes from outside the house. Wouldn’t want our casters to die, now would we? I see the four at the front door go in and I wait. I don’t see or hear any signs of a skirmish, but that’s not to say they haven’t met with any resistance. A short time goes by and we see this giant, spider-looking-but-not-quite THING break through the side of the house and take off into the woods! Nivak comes out the hole the creature created and tries to chase it down, but he’s no-where near fast enough. We reconvene and find out that Growlyn’s unconscious from that thing’s bite. Nadon and Bruticus discovered what appears to be Hansy in a pen out back. The dog’s injured beyond Nadon’s expertise, but Nadon feels he has a good chance of survival if left to rest peacefully for a few days. We decide to hunt down the mutant spider creature. Battle Records: Growlyn = 3 kills, First Blood, High Damage Kill at 21 points. Lillay = 1 kill. Ilmarian = 1 kill. 6 hours later: Growlyn’s since woken up and appears to be fine. We’ve come to a clearing in the woods with a large earthen mound in the center. Looks to be a burial mound. There are 5 semi-large wolves surrounding the entrance to the mound. Nadon goes out ahead of us all towards the wolves thinking that his animal sensitivity will aid us here. Our bandit prisoners are still with us and very much tied up. They beg to be released upon seeing the wolves and Nivak does so after they swear their allegiance to him. After dispatching the wolf “guards”, we proceed into the mound and find a human sacrifice in progress, which summons a truly terrifying demon. This is the last thing I remember: the sight of that dread demon bearing towards me! Battle Records: Lillay = 3 kills (including the Large Wolf). Nivak = 3 kills (including a Chaos Warrior), High Damage Kill at 25 points. Nadon = 2 kills (including the Fire Wolf). Ilmarian = 2 kills (including the Spider Mutant). Caradryan = 1 “kill” (the Animated Sword). Jezeg = 1 kill, First Blood. Growlyn = 1 kill (a Chaos Warrior). Friendly Fire = Demon kills the Flesh Wolf. Day 1762 (the next day) We are safe and the demon vanquished by none other than Jezeg! Well, truth be told, Jezeg didn’t actually do the vanquishing, but he summoned Myrmydia who in turn summoned the spirit of Margrin Umberrogen, the faithful servant of Sigmar who’s properly dedicated burial mound we happened to be in. A bit convoluted, wouldn’t you say? Well, in any case, Umberrogen saved the life of our faithful Myrmydian battle cleric, saved all of our lives, as well as the lives of all of the villagers and townspeople in the nearby radius. We’ve come back to the woodsman’s house to rest up and recover from our last battle. The house is uninhabitable, so we must camp outside. It’s decided to burn the house before we leave. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough left to bury its former occupants. |
