We sell all of our loot off in town and come away with a great deal of Gold. As a treat, we book lodgings at a nice inn for the 2 days before our boat sets sail. I don’t think I can go back to a flophouse after this!

Arrive in Altdorf. We return the jeweled belt to Klaus and get our 200 Gold. It’s back to flophouse lodgings for us (Damn!) because we’re staying for another 2 weeks so we can train.

Everyone’s completed their training, which has led to some promotions. Ilmarian’s is the most impressive with a promotion to Troubadour and then another one to Minstrel. I get a promotion to Merc Sergeant. And, Nadon picks up two new skills: marksmanship and eagle eye.

Day 470 (the next day)
We decide to purchase a cart so that we don’t have to leave loot behind anymore. Also, we don’t have any luck finding new work on the town boards. We go back to Klaus to see if he’s got anything for us. He doesn’t really, but suggests we can get work from someone he knows (Halfor) in the Border Princes. He gives us a package to deliver to this Halfor guy and says that Halfor will pay us for delivery of the package. There’s not much else going on here in Altdorf (unless we want to join up with the military – which we don’t), so it’s off to the Border Princes!

We book passage on a boat to get us halfway there. The rest of the journey will be caravan travel.

We’re on our way to the Border Princes.

Arrive in some nameless border town. Find lodgings and work for the next few days while we wait for our caravan.

Run-in with mutants while patrolling outside of town. Earned 57 Gold. Nivak collects more mutant ears. Curiously, he only takes one ear from each mutant he kills. I wonder why he doesn’t take both? Battle Records: Caradryan = 3 kills. Nadon = 7 kills (including the “Big Bear” before it even reached us). Lillay = 2 kills. Ilmarian = 2 kills. Nivak = 5 kills. Jezeg = 3 kills. Varthlokkur = 3. Creeg = 2.

Reach the border of the lands of the Power Alliance. The gatekeeper demands a fee to pass through their lands. For Nivak, only 7 Silver because he’s human. For the rest of us, a total of 65 Gold. Ilmarian tries to negotiate a lower/fairer price and the gatekeeper doesn’t waste any time increasing the price to 70 Gold. Ilmarian continues talking, but we drag him off before the gatekeeper tires of insulting us and decides to just start shooting. Meanwhile, Nivak didn’t have the 7 Silver fee on him, so he traded off one of his swords and gained entrance to their town. I guess we’re meeting him on the other side?

We come to border of the Covenant Alliance. These people aren’t racist bastards like the Power Alliance and they let us pass through their lands.
