Tips and Tricks
The Tips and Tricks section of my page will help you with battle strategies, temples, bosses, and provide other tips to help you make your way through Termina safely and more effectively. Got a tip or trick for me to post? send it here, and I may just post it up!
General
- Try getting the Bunny Hood as soon as possible. It is especially helpful since it helps you move faster, and can go places Epona can't.
- If you want a real challenge, then don't get the Gilded Sword. Otherwise, get it ASAP.
- Try to remember to save up money at the bank before you travel back in time. Not only do you get rewards for it, but when you're strapped for cash it can be a time saver.
- If you can't get away from an explosion fast enough, face it and hold up your shield.
- If you're not sure where to go next (and don't feel like using the walkthrough) talk to Tingle in the last area you're sure you needed to be. He will try to sell you two maps. The second one will be the next area you have to go to.
- If you slow down time, not only will your days go by slower, but people will also move slower too. This doesn't include enemies, however.
- It's a good idea to slow down time every time you start back at the first day, unless you're doing certain notebook entries.
- It's also a good idea to get all the stray fairies in a temple while your're doing that temple. This is because you won't have to do that temple twice, and the upgrades are very useful - you can't go wrong with more magic or more health!
- As Deku Link, avoid fire at all costs.
- As Darmani, avoid water at all costs.
- If Takkuri (the vulture flying around outside Milk Road in Termina Field) steals something from you, you can either go to the Curiosity Shop to buy it back, or you can just travel back in time to get it back for free.
- If you don't want to risk getting things stolen while you're trying to kill Takkuri just ride Epona and shoot it with arrows.

- If you are using the Blast Mask, you can not lose energy if you hold R to raise your shield while blasting. However, it does not work if you Z-Target.

Battle Tips
- If you're using the Great Fairy's Sword and don't have time to wait for the "Put Away" sign to appear because you need to use your shield immediately, try pressing B to pull out your normal sword, and then quickly R to use your shield.
- If you're swimming underwater as Mikau and are being attacked, press R to defeat or at least stun your enemy.
- If you're rolling with spikes coming out of you as Darmani, nothing can hurt you. Some things can stop you, but they won't inflict any damage.
- The Goron Pound can be extremely helpful when fighting (multiple) enemies, especially Wolfos' and Boes.
- If you dive into a Deku Flower as Deku Link and there is an enemy hovering above you, jump out and you'll inflict damage upon it.
- If you get the chance, hit a Wolfos in the back. It'll usually destroy it with just one hit.
- To easily defeat Wizrobe, stand in one place somewhere in between all the portals, and just use arrows whenever it appears.
- If you throw your fins as Mikau, you can no longer roll or face any other direction. If you're in danger, run forward and press A to do a drop kick (this looks cool if you do it off a high cliff).
Woodfall Temple
- If Odolwa summons bugs to chase you, pick up one of the Bomb Flowers and drop it somewhere. They will all be attracted to the flame on top, and will hover around it when it blows up.
- If your timing it right, you can use the Bomb Flowers against Odolwa.
- If you're having trouble hitting Odolwa, try stunning the warrior with an arrow. Sometime's it'll get blocked, but if you do manage to stun Odolwa, you'll be able to inflict major damage, especially with the jump attack, but you need good timing.
Snowhead Temple
- Whenever Goht starts shooting electricity at you, roll from side to side to avoid it.
- If you go over one of the jumps and land on Goht's back, the giant beast will fall to the ground for a few seconds. At this point, you can continually roll into it, inflicting heavy damage.
Romani Ranch
- If you're making bets at the dog race, always use the Mask of Truth to select the dog whose thoughts begin with "Ruff!"
- When defending the cows for Romani, don't forget that there is always one or two waiting behind the ranch.
- Try to find one spot where you can see most of the invaders from.
- If you have a few spare seconds, look at the map at the bottom right corner of the screen, as it shows the locations of all the invaders.
- Some people think that if you slow down time while trying to save the ranch the creatures will come slower, but they don't. All it does is make you shoot them for longer.

Pirates' Fortress
- It is helpful to have at least four bottles by this point.
- If you wear the Stone Mask, the guards won't notice you.
Gormon Track
- When racing the brothers, try staying as close to the inside of the track as possible.
- If one of the brothers are trying to get past you, cut him off. Simply stay in front of him as long as you can.
- Always jump over fences, since it's faster than going around them.
- Avoid the patches of mud at the end at all cost. They'll slow you down, and might make you lose the race at the last second.
Great Bay Temple
- When battling Wart, try knocking off as many bubbles as you can before actually damaging the eye. After you hit it about three times, all the bubbles will fall off, and bounce around the room randomly while Wart zips around from wall to wall.
- Mikau's fins are a good attack against Wart since they cover a good part of the room, and can take out many bubbles with just one throw.
- After hitting the Gekko, don't stay in one place for too long. If there is a shadow over you, keep running as far away from it as you can, or you'll be in for some (really annoying) damage which you can't block.
- Once you get the Ice Arrows, go to the room where you exit after fighting the mad frog (Editor's Note: Gekko) (where the gold lattice fencing is. Shoot Ice Arrows in the water as close to the opening of the gold fence as possible. Hop the ice block closest to the window and transform into Zora Link, and you should be able to reach the opening. You will be able to get the Boss Key w/o fighting the frog!

- If you see Gyrog getting ready to ram the platform and don't have enough time to hit it, try doing a backflip. You'll have to have good timing, but if you pull it off you'll have a few extra seconds to go after the fish, and you won't have to worry about being knocked in the water.
- If you are being attacked by the fish Gyrog releases (as with any underwater enemy), use the electric shield to defeat them. They can be a good source of hearts.
- If you're running low on magic when fighting Gyrog, look underwater in the corners of the room.
- If you're having trouble beating Gyrog, all you have to do is make sure you have potions on hand to refill your magic meter.

Stone Tower Temple
- The Stone Mask can be helpful in this temple, especially in the room where you have to reflect light off several mirrors, and are contstantly being attacked by Black Boes.
- When fighting TwinMold, keep an eye on your magic meter.
- A Green Potion can prove helpful when fighting TwinMold, but a bottle of Chateau Romani would be even better.
- If you don't have any bottles filled with magic-restoring liquid, destroy the pillars. It's very hard to see when you're big, but sometimes they drop little green potions in the sand, although you have to be small to pick them up.
- If you're small and out of magic, stand around a pillar until one of the insects breaks it.
- Don't wander off too far into the sand, as you will be transported back to the beginning of the temple and will have to start the battle all over again.
The Moon
- After you've made it over the first jump in the Goron Dungeon, let go of the control stick completely. The game will do all the work for you.
- If you're still having trouble staying on the path in the Goron Dungeon, try staying as close as you possibly can to the lighter middle strip of the pathway.
- If you're having trouble defeating Majora's Mask (or even if you're not) try getting the Fierce Deity's Mask.
