Further tour of the Great City of Moorgate
Still here? Good. Let's see then...we have wandered along the two roads through the town square, and we have seen the docks. Then I think it is time to take you all the way around the...

CITY WALL WALK

The city wall that was built to protect Moorgate from attacks runs all the way around town, except the south side adjacent to the ocean. Let's continue where we are and walk north along the western part of it. We will always have the wall on our left, so keep your eyes on the right side.
The city wall in all its splendour.
The first thing we will see is the gaol. This is where they bring the socially undesirable, but if you ask me they are real bad at jailing people for murder. Apart from that this is a fairly respectable living area. As we approach Copper Walk we have to pass through a tunnel, rather scary late at night. Further up you will see Forgrim's famous weapon emporium on your right. I dare to say this is the most popular weapon shop in town.  Just south of Broadside Walk is the Clan of the Dragons hall, but you can't enter if you aren't a member. As we approach Paul-Jean's Clothes shoppe, a rather strange tailor if you ask me, you can see a live-size statue with no pants. It is believed to depict the immortal Ica, but noone has managed to explain why he has his behind on display like that. North of that is the small shrine to the creators cat, a very popular place for the citizens to put flowers. It is believed to bring good fortune to your own pets if you do so. After the shrine only the small garden is of much interest before we get to the corner and the road takes a sharp right turn, or left turn, depending on which way you come from...

As we start heading east on the north part of City Wall Walk you will notice that the houses are rather large here, and in good repair. Especially this huge house that is guarded by what looks to be a small army. If I was a betting sprite I'd bet some important fighter lives there. The wedding shop sits in the west part of the walk, and outside it is a beautiful fountain. As we cross Brent Street and pass the massive north gate leading out of town there is a rather steep slope at the top of which can be found a set of stairs leading up on the wall. The view up there is worth the climb, but I think we should walk on and have a look at the wall right here...it must be thirty feet thick. Impressive, isn't it? A little further east it is rather low though, so low one can see over it if flying up a little bit into the air...umm, or just stand still if one is a half-giant or so. You can see the fields on the other side where much of the food delivered to town is grown. We will also pass some large warehouses and the elegant Red Rose Café before arriving in the easternmost corner of town. What must be the largest of the guard towers stands here, just where the north and east parts of City Wall Walk meet.
The northeast corner of town is pretty much neglected. Not many people are seen, the housing is poor, and even the wall is in a rather sad state of repair. As we approach the most fashionable street in town, Laurel Lane, the City Wall Walk is in its saddest state. The road is full of holes and I am sure anyone more than a few feet tall could climb the wall. Right at the corner of Laurel Lane it starts getting better though, and there is a big glass window inserted in the wall so you can look out. When we cross Broadside Walk we once again see the east gate, and further south, near Copper Walk, a section of the wall is cut into the shape of a face. At the corner of Copper is the entrance to the graveyard. Now that's one scary place, don't go there without someone to hold your hand. Many people live at the southern part, for instance in the pair houses built so that one cannot be sure which house one lives in. They all look exactly the same.
Not all parts of the city wall are in good repair.
Mind your feet here, the road is bulging and that large tree there has forced them dwarves to make it rather curvey. Even the houses are built with dents and things to make place for the tree. And here the road ends. When we walk through that rather large gate-house there we will be back on the docklands.

That was the City Wall Walk. If you care to join me a while longer we will take a look at the streets we have left. If I count correctly there should be six more to find, and we will start with the ones that run
south to north through Moorgate.
Umm...as we now have seen the borders of town I think it is time to once again return inwards and explore some of the streets that run from the docklands in the south to the north wall. Let us begin with...

MOONSTONE STREET

The street we are now about to investigate is said to be one of the oldest in town. It runs from the south to the north, as well as from the north to the south, parallell to East City Wall Walk and Immigrant Street.
A street in Moorgate.
The first thing we see as we leave the docks and start heading north is the gargantuan observatory with its telescope. Right behind it we see a narrow alley leading slightly southeast on our right. The alley leads all the way around the coven house and returns to Moonstone just a little north of here. The coven house must be one of the tallest buildings in town, and it seems as if them ravens have nothing better to do than circle around it all day. Knowing that this is the training grounds for dark witches and warlocks, and this part of the street always being rather lonely, it is not very hard to start trembling a bit every time one has to pass. And the strange thing is that there is no entrance to the tower.

Continuing north we will find another tower, only...this one is in a heap of shattered glass on the ground. I havent seen it myself, but those who have say that the glass tower this used to be was very pretty. By the crossing at Copper Walk I generally fly a few yards as it is still partly closed off, but I think we will get through. Heading toward Broadside we will pass two famous inns, The Merchant's Purse on our left and the Woo Hoo Tavern on our right. Both are rather popular with the locals. Right at the corner here is the public speaking zone. It is open to anyone who wish to state their views, but sadly it isnt used very much.

North of Broadside you will witness something impressive. Look! The road glitters as if it was made of gold...oh, umm...it isn't gold though, which is probably good. If it was it wouldn't be around very long I gather. This part of Moorgate is what some call Gnometown. Most of the people who live in the small cottages here are either halflings or gnomes. If you look to your right here you will see an archway in the wall. If you walk through there you get to the most fashionable district in town...Laurel Lane and Winner Circle Way. I will take you there later on. The street keeps glittering as it continues north here, and it is rather elegant don't you say? Crossing Autumn Walk you can see a house looking like it has a face. The rest of the buildings aren't very noticeable. Simple one storey housing with wooden roofs. At the very end of the street though is the pretty five storey brick building of the Red Rose Cafe. Oh, the food in there is a delight for the palate...a mecca to good taste. And here we are, back at the north wall.
One of the busiest streets in town run in the same direction as Moonstone. It is home to no less than two of the famous guilds and it is called...

BRENT STREET

Once again starting from the south end, turning our backs on the ocean we notice as we pass the warehouse that the road is made of bright red rock. Only place in town where such a surface can be seen. Buildings in this area are mostly large ten storey sets of flats, erected quite recently.
Elegant cobblestones on one of the Moorgate walks.
This is also one of the few parts of town where the streetlights actually work. Crossing Copper we have the Rough Riders clan hall behind us on our left and the elegant armoury ahead of us on our right. The street gets busier and busier as we near the massive towers of the Fighters Guild, largest guild in town. Get your hat ready now... we are near the intersection with Broadside Walk, and you do remember what to do there, don't you? There isn't much to see north of Broadside until we spot the famous blue jaguar flag on the wall on the right. That's the Trapped Hand Inn...eatery for the rich and famous. But to tell you the truth, it is the atmosphere you pay for, not the food...

North of Autumn Walk the street is lined by willow trees that give the air a fresh scent. Right up ahead on the left is the entrance to the Mages Guild, which would be the second largest guild in town. As we continue north it isn't hard to guess that the mages have their halls nearby. The houses here are built with the use of spells. In my mind it makes them look almost too perfect. If you stop looking at the street and instead turn your vision straight ahead you will notice that we have now come to the north gate...beyond it lies wilderness.

If you are tired of just heading north and south, all you have to do is come with me when I take you west to east and back as we...
