Logtown Climbing Guide Route Descriptions

Big Cliff Camping Cliff Middle Cliff O.A. Crags

The Tower
The Tower is a sandstone block structure, quarried from the Logtown Quarry. It used to be one of the bridge buttresses for the old Route 30 bridge. It is currently 50 feet tall and 30 feet by 15 feet wide. Climbing here has been banned by the Lisbon City Council! If you climb here your equipment may be confiscated by the Lisbon Police and you could also be cited, fined or even jailed.

To locate The Tower Walk from the pull off parking on Logtown Road down the dirt road for 1/4 mile past the Lions Club in Willow Grove Park until you get to the base of the Route 30 bridge. The Tower is locater directly below the bridge. Don't park near The Tower to avoid drawing attention to yourself If you plan to climb here. Leading The Tower is a must to get to the summit. Small stoppers and cam's are needed. The ORIGINAL ROUTE on the Northeast corner is a good choice for obtaining the summit. On the summit there are old makeshift anchors, consisting of, iron stakes and a hardware bolt which are used to set toprope anchors and rappel anchors. Long slings may have to be left to retrieve to rope after rappelling. For additional information on The Tower visit the Logtown Alpine Club Press 1986 publication of
A Climbers Guide To the Cliffs Of Logtown, Ohio 1986.

Many cautions exist here:
1. Climbing Here has been banned, Lisbon Police do in-force the ban!
2. Bees have totally taken over all sides of
The Tower and aggressively protect their hive, The Tower, from climbers!
3. Some of the stone is brittle, so the stone may break!
4. The anchors on top are unreliable, these anchors are the only way down!
5. Don't have any contact with the creek, The Middle Fork of the Little Beaver Creek, it was contaminated with the chemical mirex in the early 1970's and has never been cleaned up.

Don't climb on The Tower you will be cited!
