Well this is a surprise, so pleased that you have come to visit me. Everyone has been talking about you, and I have been waiting for you come so that we can have a long talk. I have heard that you wish to know all about each of us. Well I would like to introduce myself, I am Owl, spelt "WOL." I am quite a large owl, I am of a magnificent height, and my wing span is stupendous (rather wonderful). I have a wonderful brain, I use it quite often for solving problems and the such. I can spell TUESDAY, and that is very handy if it is a Tuesday. I live here in the Wood with the others. My original address was The Chestnuts, I now live in the Wolery, .(This was originally Piglet's house)...I must tell you how I got it - I might leave that till later. |

You know that Pooh asked me to write a ("Very Happy Birthday with love from Pooh.") so I did and it looked like this : "HIPY PAPY BTHUTHDTH THUTHDA BTHUTHDY." marvellous writing, don't you agree? I have heard that a few think that I can be quite a bore, I do love to talk to any one who will listen, and I am sure you will have the time for me to chat a while. I have been quoted as saying: "This is a surprise" "Well, I say now." "This situation calls for an expert." "Now as I was saying." Now as I was saying, I have a story to tell about how I got my new house...but before I do have a look at a few pictures of me and my poor house the day that a very blustery wind blew it down. Then perhaps Mr Milne will tell the rest. |

From Chapter Nine: The House At Pooh Corner In which Eeyore finds the Wolery and Owl moves into it ......I AM SCERCHING FOR A NEW HOUSE FOR OWL SO HAD YOU RABBIT "What's all this?" said Eeyore. Rabbit explained. "What's the matter with his old house?" Rabbit explained. "Nobody tells me," said Eeyore. "Nobody keeps me informed. I make it seventeen days come Friday since anybody spoke to me."........ "And what about the new house?" asked Pooh. "Have you found it, Owl?" "He's found a name for it." said Christopher Robin... "I am calling it this," said Owl importantly, and he showed them what he had been making. It was a square piece of board with the name of the house painted on it: THE WOLERY So, in a little while, they came to the house which Eeyore had found, and just before they came to it, Piglet was nudging Pooh, and Pooh was nudging Piglet, and they were saying "It is!" and "It can't be!" and "It is, really!" to each other. And when they got there it really was. "There!" said Eeyore proudly, stopping them outside Piglet's house. "And the name on it, and everything!" "Oh, " cried Christopher Robin, wondering whether to laugh or what. "Just the house for Owl. Don't you think so Piglet?" And then Piglet did a Noble Thing, and he did it in a sort of dream, while he was thinking of all the wonderful words Pooh had hummed about him. "Yes, it's just the house for Owl," he said grandly. "And I hope he'll be very happy in it."........ "Well," he said at last, "it's a very nice house, and if your own house is blown down, you must go somewhere else, mustn't you, Piglet? What would you do, if your house was blown down?" Before Piglet could think, Pooh answered for him. "He'd come and live with me," said Pooh, "wouldn't you, Piglet?" Piglet squeezed his paw. "Thank you, Pooh," he said, "I should love to." |
