Walt Disney's daughters loved reading about Winnie-the-Pooh. On June 16th, 1961, Walt Disney purchased the film rights to the Pooh stories from Mrs Daphne Milne.(A.A.Milne's wife). The first film 'Winnie-the-Pooh and The Hunny Tree', was released on February 4th, 1966, a twenty six minute short film. The same year, month unknown, 'Winnie-the-Pooh Shorts Program' was released in Sweden. December of 1966 Walter Elias Disney passed way he was 65. In 1968, 'Winnie-the-Pooh and Blustery Day' won an Academy Award, a well derserved recognition for a wonderful adventure of fun with Pooh and his friends. The list is endless of videos, films, C.Ds etc., the most recent being the 'Tigger' movie released February, 2000. We all have our favorite 'style' of Winnie-the-Pooh, whether it be the Classic Pooh or the Disney Pooh. The one thing that remains is that he brings so much joy, laughter and fun to all those who happen to get hooked on him. He and his wonderful 'gang' of friends will always be around for that we must thank A.A.Milne, his son Christopher, for having the wonderful nursery toys, Winnie the Canadian brown bear, Lt. Colebourn, E.H. Shepard for the most wonderful illustrations and of course Disney for bringing Pooh to life on the screen, and modern medium. With this he will always remain the world's , most loved bear. And thats's not bad for 'a bear with very little brain' |
