TO ALL INTERESTED IN MANCHESTER LAMB CLUB MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to 20 students entering 5th thru 11th grade, in the fall of the current year. Application deadline is Dec. 1st. New Membership is open first to previous year members.
New membership will be determined by a lottery drawing. The first numbers drawn will fill in the remaining openings .
A $25.00 deposit is due in January  with the signed application/contract [viewable below.] This fee is non-refundable if the student is accepted for membership. This fee will be applied toward the purchase of their lambs in the spring.                
Once there are 20 members, the remaining students will be assigned numbers in the order drawn and be placed on a waiting list for available openings. This list will carry forward to the following year assuring these students priority for the next year.     The $25.00 will be refunded in January to those on the waiting list.
All members will be notified for the first lamb club meeting, which will be held in January.
Time and location to be announced.
               The first l meeting will consist of " group brain storming" (sharing ideas for coming year) Also: the election of  new officers.

MANCHESTER LAMB CLUB APPLICATION/CONTRACT
I hereby agree that I will:
                        Participate in set-up, clean-up and daily tent maintenance for the fair.                      
If I can not be there, a family member will fulfill my responsibilities.
Treat members & lambs as I would like to be treated.
( No hitting, kicking or abuse will be tolerated).
Properly feed and care for any lambs allotted to me.
In case of sickness of the lamb, I will notify a veterinarian and /or notify a lamb club leader.
Agree to show at the Manchester Community Fair, (on dates set by the Fair Board for the current year) in order to market my lambs at the fair

NOTE: A "Review Committee" consisting of 2 adults and 1 member will have authority to approach youth members with their parents regarding violation of any of the above. If the situation warrants, this committee has the sole authority to remove animals from the fair &/or deny membership for the following year.

Manchester Lamb Club Bylaws 2001
1. Club name will be
Manchester Lamb Club.                                
2. Membership Eligibility: Any person entering the 5th thru 11th grade
Any person with-in the area that covers the Manchester School District.
3.   The number of members shall be limited to a total of 20 people.                              
Membership is open first to previous year members.
New membership will be determined by a lottery drawing. The first numbers drawn will fill the remaining openings. Once there are 20 members the remaining people will be assigned numbers in the order drawn, and be placed on a waiting list for available openings. This list will carry forward to the following year(s) assuring priority for the next year.
Each year a $25 deposit is due with a signed application/contract.
     This fee is non-refundable if the person is accepted for membership.
This fee will be applied to the purchase of their lambs in the spring.
               The $25
will be refunded to those on the waiting list.
4.  Purchase date of the lambs will be approximately 90 days prior to the Manchester Fair.
These lambs will be treated for overeating, tetanus, wormed, tagged, weighed, etc.. by the club.
5.The members will draw two lambs, by numbers, on the day of pick-up.                                    
   6. Lambs shown at the Fair must be the same lambs drawn and purchased the current year.    
7. Lambs will be shorn approximately 2 weeks before fair, at an agreed upon sight & date.     
8. Members will show each lamb and each lamb will be judged, in one of the following weight classes:
Light-weight,  Light-middle-weight,   Middle-weight,  Heavy-weight.
(The class the lambs are in is based on the lambs ending weight determined at fair)
If both lambs are in the same weight class, members must ask another club member to show one.
9. Members will be judged for showmanship. Showmanship will be in two- classes.
         Junior: First three years in the Club                                                                                                          Senior: All other members (Senior showmanship - judged 1st  )                                               
  10. Club advisors can check any members housing and management facilities &                               
reserves the right to refuse membership.
11. Purchase of the "Club lambs" will be to the discretion of the Club advisors. The "club lambs" will be sold separately at the auction for the purpose to pay for Club expenses.
12.    A lamb that is underweight ( gained less than 20lbs from starting weight), prolapsed, sick (ie soremouth) or injured (i.e. broken leg) will not be allowed to be shown or sold at the Manchester Fair.
Club Advisors: and /or Manchester Fair Board President will consult with a Veterinarian if needed about sick or injured lambs. Any lamb that becomes sick, prolapsed, or injured after being brought to the fair, must be removed with-in 24 hours after being instructed by an Advisor or Manchester Fair Board President.
13. A "Review Committee" consisting of 2 appointed adults and 1 member, will have the authority to approach members with their parents regarding violation of any of the rules in the application/contract signed by the members.
a. Members participate in set-up, clean-up, daily tent & and pen maintenance throughout the duration of the fair.
     If not able to attend any of the above, a family member or guardian must fulfill your responsibilities.Treat members & lambs as you would like to be treated.

14.  Violence toward another club member or club advisors, either verbal or physical will not be tolerated, and will result in immediate removal from the club and showing at the fair.
All members must turn in a "set of records" to appointed person/advisor, before showing their lambs.
The following options will be available for all members if their lamb prolapses:
Sell the Lamb at your choice of livestocks.
Have the lamb butchered and sold as processed meat at the end of the auction after the club lambs are sold.  One half of the butchering cost will be paid by member, the other half by the lamb club.
Members finds a buyer for lamb and buyers' name will be published and announced with other buyers at the fair.
NOTE: Member MUST contact a Club Advisor with notification of lams prolapse, and members decision before they will take action.
