The Burning Times
I know what you're expecting. Another 'we were persecuted' 'over 9 million witches were burnt' page. First off, that 9 million death count is entirely unrealistic. Second, I am not going to rant on and on and on about the witches who may or may not have actually been witches who were tortured, killed, blah blah blah and how awful that was.

Yes, I agree, it was irrational and stupid of people to cause such incredible harm to others. But get over it. No one is being burnt now. What really irks me is the fact that 99% of the witches that complain about this dire persecution live in the United States of America. We have no right. We live in one of the most freedom-rich nations in the world, and are complaining about witches who again, may not even have BEEN witches, that were burnt and tortured over four hundred years ago. If you want to complain about persecution, live it first.

Sure, if you can PROVE that your great-great-great (etc.) whatever was burnt, feel free to mention it, but don't jam it down our throats with rants on how terrble witches have been treated throughout history. Which, by the way, was not always awful, and not always the same way by everyone. Even during the Trials, there were many witches in many places who were adored and respected and often consulted by their communities on all sorts of things.

And please, please, PLEASE don't whine about how witches are still being persecuted. There is no one, not a single person, who doesn't face persecution in one form or another. This includes Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheists, Satanists, the geeky kids at school, the jocks, the bibliophiles, gays and lesbians, and yes, witches. It includes people of all races, religions, backgrounds and occupations. And yes, this is sad, but I am not going to waste time going 'oh, poor me, poor them, poor everyone.' What I'm going to do is finish this article and move on. Move on to something constructive.
The past is gone; what we must do now is learn from it and then continue on our way. Yes, it has sucked, yes, it has been wonderful, yes, it had been sort of bland, but all it does is influence the here and now, and only if we learn. You cannot go back and save all those 'witches', or all those Jews, or all those Christians and Muslims. They are gone. But WE are still here. Christians, Jews, witches, Muslims, Buddhists; we're all still here. So quit the whining.
