Chapter 7 Kari called Adam and found out where their show was at.  She swore him to secrecy because she wanted to surprise Jeff.  Adam picked her up at the airport and took her to the hotel where they were all staying.  He pulled the car up  to the front door and handed her a room key. "Go on up.  I’ll park and bring your bags up to you in a bit.  Jeff and I are sharing a room so here’s the key.  I’ll just get another room." She took the key and smiled as she thanked him and kissed him on the cheek. "Have fun!", he called with a sly grin as he pulled away.   She hurried up to the room and very quietly slid the key in the door.  She was in no way prepared for the sight that she stumbled upon.  There, right in front of her disbelieving eyes, was Jeff with some girl in the bed.  She stood there in shock - neither of them noticing her as they both moaned with pleasure. "I guess surprise is putting it mildly.", Kari said as anger filled her every word. Jeff jerked his head around to see her standing there.  All the color had drained from his face and he was speechless.  There were no words for what she was feeling, so she turned in disgust and stormed out.  Jeff climbed off of his partner and scrambled for his clothes.   "Jeff?…..", the girl called after him.  "Get dressed and get out.", he yelled buttoning his pants and running for the elevator. The elevator doors closed just as he reached it.  "Damnit!!", he yelled slamming his hand on the door. Kari was in tears by the time she made it to the lobby.  She looked around and saw Adam at the check in desk.   "Don’t bother.  Take me back to the airport.", she said grabbing his hand and pulling him away from the desk. "What’s wrong?", he asked grabbing her bags. "Just take me to the airport.", she stated. He did as he was told and they walked silently to his car.  They passed Matt in the parking lot and he stopped her. "Kari what are you doing here?", he asked noticing that she was crying, "What’s wrong?" "Ask your brother!", she snapped at him and climbed into Adam’s car.   Matt stood there confused.  Adam backed the car up and noticed a shirtless, shoeless Jeff running towards the car in the rear view mirror.  Kari turned and saw him too.  Adam looked at her as if to ask what he should do. "Just go.", she replied.  So he did. "FUCK!!", Jeff yelled.  He stopped running when he realized that they weren’t going to stop.  He bent over and tried to catch his breath.  He then stood up and turned around to see Matt staring at him.   "You wanna tell me what all that was about?", Matt asked concerned. "I fucked up……as usual!", Jeff spouted as he stormed past his brother, back towards the hotel. The first few minutes of the ride to the airport were silent.  The only sounds were that of the sobs that Kari was trying to choke back as she stared out the window. Finally, Adam spoke up, "You want to talk about it?"   She didn’t turn around as she shook her head ‘no’.  He put his hand on her shoulder.  She turned around and forced a smile at him, "thanks."  Then she turned back to the passing scenery.  Silent again.   "Does he do this all the time?", she asked. "Do what?", he asked still clueless to what had happened. "Cheat on me.  Does he do it a lot?", she asked again.  He looked at her like she had lost her mind, "Are you sure?  That just doesn’t sound like Jeff.  He would never cheat on you.  He loves you."   "Yeah. That’s what I thought too.  But I saw it.  Adam, I walked in on them and caught them.  They were going at it right in front of me.", she said causing herself to cry harder. He didn’t know what to say, "I’m sorry Kar."  He wiped away some tears from her face. The rest of the ride was silent.  They reached the airport and Adam stayed with her until her flight left. He hugged her tight, "I’m here if you need me."
