Chapter 2 Dakota explained everything to Mia on the way to the airport. She, in turn, spent the whole flight wondering how her usually sharp friend got suckered into believing that they had been given the best story. "Oh well, it’s a job.", Mia thought to herself as she dozed off in her seat. They checked into their hotel in Fayetteville which was only a short drive from the Hardy’s hometown of Cameron. Mia jotted down a few notes and Dakota got all of her equipment ready before calling it a night. They didn’t want to have to mess with those details in the morning as they were meeting the boys for breakfast. The next morning, they were off to Cameron. "Geesh this place is small.", Dakota commented as they pulled into the town. "Yeah, kinda makes our hometown look like a metropolis, huh?", Mia chuckled as they parked in front of the restaurant. "Ya’ll must be those girls from New York here to interview Matt and Jeff.", the waitress stated s they sat down at the table. "Yes. We’re a little early thought.", Mia said. "That’s okay.", the waitress said, ‘Matt just called to see if you were here yet. He should be here any minute." "Thanks.", Dakota returned. The waitress took their order and returned with two cups of coffee, "You ladies sure that’s all you want?" "Yeah, thanks.", Mia answered. "Well, if you need anything else just holler.", she said with a smile. The girls smiled at each other. They had become so use to living in New York that they had forgotten about good old southern hospitality. "Hey, Matt.", they heard the waitress say as they looked up at the tall, dark headed man that had just walked through the door. "Hey Jess.", he returned with a smile. "The usual?", she asked. "Of course.", he answered as he made his way over to the girls. "Mia?", he asked staring at Dakota. "I’m Mia.", Mia said extending her hand to shake Matt’s, "This is my photographer, Koty." "Nice to meet you, Koty.", he said as he shook her hand then sat in the chair next to her, "Did you two have a good trip down here?" "It was fine.", Mia answered, "Isn’t your brother going to be here too?" Matt laughed as he said, "He’s always late, but he’ll be here. You just gotta know Jeff to understand him." "Well, that’s what we’re here for - to learn all about the two of you.", Mia said with a smile. "Good.", he replied glancing over at Dakota. Something about him rubbed Dakota the wrong way, although she didn’t know what it was. Maybe it was that he came across, to her, as being a little full of himself. He was dressed very neatly and his hair just so, not one hair out of place. He was very aware of the way he sat and moved. He just seemed to be very appearance conscience, not that it was a bad thing. They made small talk for about fifteen minutes. "There he is.", the waitress said as she placed a large plate of food on the table in front of Matt. "Sorry I’m late.", Jeff said plopping himself down in the chair next to Mia and grabbing a piece of bacon off of Matt’s plate. "Get your own.", Matt scolded. Jeff smiled slyly as he shoved the strip of bacon into his mouth. He wasn’t dressed as neatly as his brother and he had his multi-colored hair pulled back into a ponytail. He seemed to Dakota to be a little more down to earth. "I’m sorry. I’m Jeff.", he said extending his hand to Mia. "That’s okay. I’m Mia.", she answered with a smile. Dakota could tell that her friend was immediately attracted to the younger Hardy brother. "Dakota.", Dakota said as she reached out to shake his hand. The waitress came back to the table with another plate of food and placed it in front of Jeff. "You two not gonna eat?", he asked digging into his meal. "No thanks. How did she know what you wanted? I never saw her take your order.", Dakota pointed out. "He always gets the same thing.", Matt responded smirking at his brother. "Not always.", Jeff rebutted, "There was that one time I got something different." "Oh yeah, one time in 23 years.", Matt teased his brother. Jeff didn’t pay him any attention as he inhaled his breakfast. The girls smiled at each other. They acted so much like the two of them that it made them laugh. "I thought you two were from New York.", Matt said, "but then I thought I heard a little southern accent come out for a minute." "Well, we’re originally from Georgia.", Mia revealed. "Okay, who’s interviewing who here?", Dakota asked dryly. Jeff chuckled, but Matt didn’t seem amused. He wasn’t very fond of Dakota either, as it seemed. They finished their meals and answered a few questions for Mia. Dakota got a couple of shots of them sitting at the table. Then, they were all off for a tour of the hometown the boys had made famous. Jeff road with Mia, leaving his car at the restaurant and Dakota road with Matt. Last Chapter ..*.. Next Chapter ..*.. Chapter Index ..*.. Home |
