Chapter 20 Sky sat down in the chair next to Jeff.  A tear ran down her cheek.  She couldn't believe that he was there.  Had he come to be there for his brother or for her? She decided that it didn't really matter why he was there, only that he WAS there.  She sat back in the chair and leaned her head against the wall.  Just as she closed her eyes, she felt him grab her hand.  She smiled as she lifted her head to look at him.  "How you holding up?", he asked sincerely.  "I’m okay.", she said softly.  "You look like you’re worn out.", he said smiling.  He was glad that he had come with his brother.  Although he wished it would have been under different circumstances, he was glad just to see her face.  "Gee, thanks.", she responded with a chuckle.  "I didn’t mean it like that.", he said as he too began to laugh, "Why don’t you go home and get some rest.  We’re here now and we’ll call you if anything happens."  "Thanks, but I’m not leaving until she wakes up.", she stated.  "What good are you to her if you’re exhausted?  You need some rest.", he insisted.  "Well, I could use a shower and some clean close.", she said.  "Good.  We’ll be here and I’ll call you if she wakes up.", he said.  She squeezed his hand, "Thanks………..for being here."  "I wouldn’t be anywhere else.", he said with a smile.   The bond that they had formed due to the tragedies that they had had in their lives was ever present.  She knew that  he understood the pain that she was feeling.  She stood up and started to leave the waiting room.  She turned around and said, "Um, Jeff?"  "Yeah?", he said looking up at her.  "Do you want to go with me?", she asked.  "Yeah, I’d like that.", he said as a big grin spread across his face.  She went to where Matt was and told him what they were doing.  He promised to call her if anything happened.  "She’ll be happy to know that you’re here.", she said, hugging him as she exited the room.  Sky and Jeff left the hospital and headed to the house.  When they got to the house, Sky checked the messages on the answering machine.  She began to cry as she heard Josie’s voice:  "Hey sis, I just wanted you to know that I got off early. I’m gonna go over to…..OH SHIT!", she could hear tires squealing and then the phone went dead.  Sky stood there sobbing uncontrollably.  Jeff walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her.  She turned herself around and buried her head in his chest crying.  "That’s it sweetie….let it all out.", he said as he stroked her hair.  They stood there like that for a few minutes.  Sky somewhat gathered her emotions and began to kiss him.  She then started to walk to her room and motioned for him to follow.  "Are you sure?", he asked as he kissed her.  "I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.", she answered staring into his eyes.  She needed him and he needed her.  As their bodies became one, so did their hearts…….their souls.  Sky was stepping out of the shower when Jeff entered the bathroom.  "She’s awake.", he said with a smile, "Matt just called.  She’s asking for you."  Sky smiled and threw her clothes on.  They headed back to the hospital.             Last Chapter ..*..
