Chapter 11 The phone rang.  "Don’t answer it.", Jeff said kissing her neck.  "Hello?", Kari said laughing as she told Jeff to stop.  "Ms. Knight?", the voice asked.  "Yes", she answered.  "This is officer Jones.  We have your ex-husband in custody.  He admitted to the whole incident."  She was shocked that he had.  "Thank you, officer.", she said thinking that would be the end of that.  "Ma’am…he’s asking for you.  He says that he feels really bad about what happened and he wants you to come down here so that he can apologize to you."  Jeff looked on as the anger built in Kari’s eyes.  "Ill be there.", she said and hung up the phone.  "What is it?", Jeff asked.  "They’ve arrested Tommy.", she said.  "Well, that’s good.  Why do you look mad?", he asked.  "He wants to see me.", she said getting out of the bed.  "Like you would go.", Jeff said dismissing the idea.  "I’m going.", she said stepping into the bathroom and shutting the door.  She turned on the shower.  Jeff followed her oblivious to the fact that he still had no clothes on.  "What do you mean, you’re going?", he demanded.  "I’m not going for him.  I’m going for me.  I have to let him know that he’s not going to get out of it this time. - that he’s done hurting me."  Jeff stood there for a minute and then said, "I understand.  But I just don’t think it’s a good idea."  She was not going to discuss it with him, her mind was made up.  "You know, you’re really cute when you’re mad…….and naked.", she said with an inviting smile as she stepped into the shower.  Jeff watched her beautiful form through the frosted glass of the shower.  Then, much to her delight, he joined her.  They had just finished dressing and primping when there was a knock at the door.  "Come in.", she called.  It was Matt.  "How are you feeling this morning?", he asked.  He couldn’t help but notice the sheepish grin on his brother’s face.  "Much better, Matty.", she answered, then kissed him on the cheek as she exited the room.  The two brothers followed her out the door and down the stairs into the living room.  Along the way, Jeff told Matt about her plans to go see Tommy in jail.  "You’re not going by yourself.", Matt insisted.  "I’ll go with her.", Jeff said.  "I don’t think that’s a good idea either.", Matt said, "I’m going.  You’ll lose it and end up in jail yourself."  So it was decided.  Jeff and Amy would stay at the house and wait for them.  Shea and Jason were at work.  "Remember, I’ll handle this.  Not a peep.", Kari instructed Matt as they reached the holding cell.  Tommy was sitting on the bench looking pitiful.  "I’m here.  What do you want?", Kari said firmly.  Matt’s muscles grew tense as Tommy walked up to the bars.  "Kari, honey, I’m so sorry.  You know I’d never mean to hurt you.  Please forgive me.  Come on.  Drop the charges, so I can go home.  I promise, I’ll never touch you again."  Kari’s stomach sickened as she heard his words.  "You’re not getting out of it that easy.", she stated, "You need to realize what you’ve done."  "I do realize it and I’m so sorry.  Now just get me out of here, please.", he said getting agitated.  "Sorry.  I can’t do that.", she calmly replied.  "You know that if you don’t drop the charges, I could spend six months in jail.  I can’t do that.  It will ruin me.", he pleaded.  "Just like you ruined me.", she said glaring at him.  "You’ll pay for this Kari.  I’ll get out one day and I’ll find you.", he yelled at her as she walked off.  Matt walked over to him and very calmly told him, "If you come near her again, I’ll kill you.  That’s a promise."  He walked out, Tommy yelling profanities at him the whole time.  "Thank you.", she said as they got into the car.  "No problem.", he returned with a smile.  They went back to the house and filled Jeff and Amy in on what had happened.  "Well, as much as I hate to say it, we need to be going.  We’ve got a two hour drive to the next show.", Amy informed the others.  "I don’t want to leave you.", Jeff whispered in Kari’s ear.  "Then, I’ll just go with you.", she said smiling, "If that’s okay.", she asked looking at them.  "That’d be great.", Amy said and Matt agreed.  They packed up their things and headed out for the next arena.  Kari called Shea and told her the plan.  She talked to Jason and decided that they would go too, they would just meet them there.          Last Chapter ..*..
