Chapter 10 She sat on the sofa chair next to her bed and she began to cry. Her bedroom door creaked slightly as it opened. "Kari?", Jeff said walking into her room. He sat down beside her. She began to sob uncontrollably when she turned to look at him. "Why? Why did he do this to me?", she asked. The tears began to fall from his green eyes as he took her into his arms. "I don’t know, I just don’t know.", he said as he stoked her hair, "But I promise that I’ll never let him do it again." "Explain to me how people that I don’t even know can adore me, but the two men in my life that are SUPPOSE to love me, my father and my husband, can hate me so much.", she said still crying. "I can’t, because I don’t know how anyone could hate you.", he said, "They just don’t know what they’ve missed." "You hated me once.", she said. "No I didn’t. I could never hate you.", he said, "I’ve loved you almost my whole life." Kari sat up and looked him in the eyes. She didn’t say a word. She didn’t know what to say. The flow of her tears almost ceased as they sat staring at each other. He ran his hand down the side of her face. She placed her hand on his and pressed it against her face, closing her eyes. When she opened them, she slowly moved her lips towards his until they met in a sweet and tender kiss. The more she kissed him, the more she poured her heart into it. All of the feelings that were built up inside of her flowed into her every motion. Maybe it wasn’t right, but it felt right to her. She needed so badly to feel loved and he was the one person that could make her feel that way. Because she knew in her heart that he truly loved her. Jeff was hesitant at first. He also knew it wasn’t right. He had a girlfriend back home. But the more that she kissed him, the easier it was for him to forget. This was what he had waited for all of his life. He had dreamed about this moment so many times. Sure it wasn’t the way that he had wanted it to happen. And maybe she was doing it for all of the wrong reasons. But he didn’t care why, the fact remained that she was there kissing him. She was the one person that he had ever honestly loved. He was determined to show her just how deep his love ran. The next morning Kari’s eyes popped open. Had it all been a dream? She hoped that it had been, but at the same time she hoped that it hadn’t. She felt his arm slide over her. She smiled knowing that he was there. She slid her hand into his, locking their fingers together. "How’s your head this morning?", he whispered kissing the back of her neck. "Very sore."’, she answered. Everything in her life was about to change and that scared the hell out of her. Should she play it off as a one night deal, or should she pursue a relationship? She wasn’t really sure what to do. All she was sure of was that she felt so very safe lying there in his arms. "We have to get up, you know.", he said. "I don’t want to.", she said rolling over to look at him, "Maybe if we just stay here long enough, the rest of the world will go away." He smiled sweetly at her. "What do we do now?", he asked. He hoped that she would tell him that she loved him - that all she wanted was to be with him. But she didn’t. "I don’t know.", she answered, "I guess that ball is in your court." "What do you mean.", he asked. "I’m not the one with the girlfriend.", she stated, "And we live on completely different sides of the country. How can that work?" He looked a little sad then said, "I don’t know. But we can try. I’m willing to if you are. Are you?" He hoped so badly that she would agree. "I don’t know, Jeff. Just let me think about it.", she said and then kissed him. "If it makes a difference, the only place that I want to be is right here.", he said pointing to her heart. "On my boob?", she asked with a sudden attack of silliness. "No.", he said and they both busted out laughing. She loved that he could make her laugh. Last Chapter ..*.. Next Chapter..*..
