The production priority of Me.410 was given initially to the fast bomber variant, but as the pressure from Allied raids increased, priority was shifted to the Zerstorer heavy-fighter variant. But due the losses it suffered in the late war by increasing Allied escort fighters, it was eventually withdrawn from combat in heavy fighter roles in late 1944.
