Today we had our first read through! We also had most - if not all - of the cast here today, including Paul Myrvold, our Don Quixote.

It felt really good to be doing a role that I feel I do well. When Paul and I sang the first number "I AM I DON QUIXOTE," I felt that same electric feeling of a performance! Definitely one of those very magical theatre moments for me!  A few cast members approached me afterwards and told me how much they enjoyed the read-through and how they, as I, look forward to this entire process!
I also very much liked seeing everybody and even understanding a little bit of how everybody is cast.

I can't wait!!!

What a great company the Western Stage is!

The day started with a full company meeting in the mainstage. Everyone involved with the Western stage (including the production teams and ensembles for all of their shows: Of Mice and Men, Man of La Mancha, The Crucible, Some Enchanted Evening, Tommy, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, The Philadelphia Story, The Diary of Anne Frank, Come Back Little Sheba and A Christmas Carol). They started with a video compilation of different scenes from movies of the plays and musicals from the season, they even had some hilarious clips of Sid Ceasar from "Show of shows". They also presented some comical skits explaining company member benefits. Each executive company staff member also introduced themselves and talked about their respective department and introduced their staff. Afterwards was bagels, fruits and juice on the patio area!
Among other people, I met a very passionate and energetic Ron Cacas, Marketing and Public Relations Manager, who spoke to me about his plans for the Man of La Mancha T.V. commercial and possible interviews with the local Filipino papers.

The afternoon was spent blocking/staging the first scene of the show, while the evening was spent going over vocal harmony parts with the ensemble.

I met with the Donnie the music Director and Paul to go over our songs. Donnie just wanted to check tempos and to review our songs with him, knowing we both were probably more familiar with our songs than he was.
Since we were done early (7:58), Donnie and I snuck in to watch "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" for free -- apparently one of the perks of being a Western Stage company member!
