Shame, Sancho. Multiple, multiple, MULTIPLE shame!!! And that's all I'm going to say about the beginning of rehearsal this afternoon. That and damn the Bay Area weekend traffic!!! (Can one say Multiple Damn??!!!)
ANYWAYS.
This afternoon, we rehearsed the musical numbers with the orchestra mic'd in the pit below the stage. The stage completely covers the orchestral pit so miking them was a necessity.
Tonight was our first dress rehearsal, unfortunately sans orchestra! Also my first rehearsal with my belly padding.
I still have my misgiving about it, but am willing to trust Lorenzo and his vision. My goal tonight is to allow the padding to add to my character, not detract, and find ways to make it my own- so to speak. I was afraid that the padding might detract from the character that I've been working on for the past few months. Tonight my goal was to find a new center of gravity, a new way of walking, running, standing, how I hold myself, where to put my hands etc. so that the padding doesn't look too out of place.
Also this afternoon, Lorenzo gave me a note for the death scene. He said to try exploring the naivete of Sancho's character. It sounds intriguing and I enjoyed exploring that avenue. It seemed more fulfilling. I'll have to wait until Tuesday, though, for notes, since Jen excused us after we got out of costume.... |
