I wasn't actually called tonight! They were practicing "inquisitor stuff" such as the trunk being brought down and Jeannie's being taken away. Since I was there anyways, we practiced Sue hitting and throwing me...

Tonight was our costume parade. It certainly was neat to see everyone in their costumes (or at least in most of their costumes in some cases!). All in all I like my costume. I think it's very much the character. I have a few misgivings about the bag that I stuff my belly with, which I think will radically change the character that I have been working on for the past few weeks. I hope that it does add to the character rather than detract. Well, I suppose I have a week before we have an audience to find out...! Also, tonight I overheard the orchestra practicing in the choral room (which was near the men's makeshift dressing room. They sounded good from the little bit that I heard. I sure am looking forward to the sitz-probe on Saturday...
Our first Tech rehearsal. As usual, tech rehearsal is very slow, tedious work as we try to bring all the elements of theatre (lights, sound, set changes, etc) into play. I had a bit of trouble with seeing DQ's helmet and broken lance as it's thrown from the wings since the "windmill light" is right in my eyes. We tried a few different ways of tossing the items to no avail. We moved on with the promise that the light will be refocused which hopefully will help.... I'm sure the next few days will be more of the same

Finished tech this afternoon... This evening we had our Sitz-Probe. This is the first time that the cast gets to rehearse with the full orchestra, when we rehearse our tempos, where to find our pitches etc. Being a fan of classical/orchestral music, this also happens to be one of my favorite parts of the reharsal process. After having to listen to the music on a piano for the past couple months, it is simply a GLORIOUS experience to finally revel in the music in the way it was meant to be heard. From the resounding timpani's to the sweet and plaintive sounds of the oboe, the thrilling sounds of the trumpets and trombones, to the tittilating trills (can I say titillating?) of the xylophone (I would have said trills of the flute and piccolo, but alas, they were not there this night), the orchestra was sounding simply superb!
