'"Who are those with thee?' And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.'" - Genesis 33: 5
My wife was introduced to me when I was still serving as a full-time minister for the Jehovah's Witnesses and at the same time attending college education. At the time, it was still possible for the class schedules were still light enough to get accomodated.
With a love story whose telling is the staple of Mills and Boons stuff, we finally ended up a conflict-ridden, several kiss-and-makeups, into a vow to love and cherish each other for better or worse on February 15, 1986.
The date is peculiar one for Filipinos. The then dictator Marcos is facing mutiny from a small band of army men from a unit who called themselves the RAM (Reformed Armed Forces Movement). A revolution was in the offing. In the height of the revolution, we got married and moved out of Manila to the south - Batangas. On the day where we spent our overnight, Marcos fell to the revolution.
We decided not to have children so we can enjoy the evangelizing work. I later stepped down from the work while my wife continued on. One year later, we decided to have our first child. Two years later, we were joined by our second child. Both girls. Five years later, the third baby would die in her mother's womb.
So, the complete family is my wife - Isabel; my eldest daughter - Catherine Beatrice; and the youngest daughter - Michelle Anne.
Meet some friends. Meet my family. |
