"It was only a matter of time before my day came." -Admiral Darryl Mansel, Jr. |
Synopsis: December 7, 2215: On the eve of his eight year commanding the Stealthlon-C, a contingent of mercenaries attacks UNSF installations galaxy-wide and declares war on the government. As the leader is revealed, Mansel and crew must race against time to find the people responsible and sort out the internal agents that are helping them. |
Excerpt from "The Forces of Evil" Setup- The leader of the mercenary attacks has just devastaed the Stealthlon-C in its first encounter. Using a smokescreen, the UNSF flagship barely escapes. Mansel sat with Brungess, Hayes, and DaNastie in his office. It was one of the few places that still had running lights. Mansel was grateful that Faith was with her mom at the moment. The damage report was so extensive that the Ensign had to carry it to Mansel on three infopads. Lieutenant Commander Sternowski had a lot of work to do. In the meantime, Mansel and his inner circle had work of thier own. "He hit us bad," Mansel said, sitting down in his chair at the head of the table. "There has to be some sort of explanation as to how he knew exactly where to find us and where to hurt us." Brungess leaned forward, putting his elbows on the table. "The schematics of the Stealthlon-C are in our database and our database alone," he said, leaving the comment open for the rest at the table to interpret how they wanted. "Admiral Little also has a copy," Captain Hayes reminded Brungess. "It's not possible that..." "No, it's not," Mansel interrupted. "The idea to not put the Stealthlon's blueprint in every ship's database was hers to begin with. For her to leak that info out would shine the spotlight right on her." "Well that can leave only one option," Commander DaNastie offered. The table looked at him "They have an informant on our ship." |
